I'd still ask for a $20 to $30 partial refund, couldn't hurt to try...
-
Hee hee I guess it is. But I prefer a euphemistically-legitimized term such as "leverage."

I find the listing was a dishonest representation, to take pics of smashed up broken stuff, and not show those parts.
Well, that's what ebay will tell you if the seller reports it, trust me I know, I found out the hard way
I agree, that was dishonest representation by leaving out details of the actual condition. Very misleading...

I'd tell him this stuff is junk and that you either want a partial refund because of that, or or a full refund + he pays shipping, or you're going to BOTH leave a NEG and open a claim for "significantly not as described." He damn well could have taken pictures of those cracks and breaks, and he deliberately chose not to, and misrepresent the items by not fully disclosing the condition, via those tactics.
But in his feedback, he got a neg from some COMPLETE IDIOT who was trying to leave him positive feedback. That's one thing about Ebay that sucks is they don't let you screen out newbies....this bozo only had feedback of 2!
You can't tell a seller that you will leave NEG feedback if he won't issue a refund, that's extortion!
You have to word your message to a seller with a round about way instead...

There's also the 810 with "The Chip" ...
I have an 810 Archiver. Is that the same as "The Chip"? I opened it up and looks like it's just a ROM upgrade.
I have to say that I prefer the 810. It doesn't have the performance of the other drives, but it looks so cool and retro sitting next to my 400. I really need to get another to stack on top of it and complete the look.

Perry
Yep, that is one in the same :-)
I use mine to recover bad floppies, besides making back-ups...

Also, if the seller is one of those who stands behind the general "AS-IS" (passing the buck, not my problem anymore) statement, it could be like pulling teeth

I got this recently:
1040ST's: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 160552859508p
One turned out to be a 1040STE

Just need to see what's wrong with it...

Considering the average Atari 800 user started in 1979 at age 15, that would leave most die-hard 6502 guys in their 40's...
Wow! How many 15 y/o's did you know who could afford an Atari 800 in 1979?
I bought my first Atari 800 (16k) in 1981 for $699 and a 32k ram board for another $100.
Back then I was only making $350 per month in the USAF...

Looking for the Hamsoft and/or Hamtext Carts by Kantronics for the Atari...

Heh heh. I'm not sure my dongle, like so many things, still works.
But I did open it up many years ago. Here's some pics.
Paperclip probably been cracked. But I don't think it would be easy to make a fake dongle, it is a printed circuit board and a chip.
I have one of these too, it was a freebie in an ebay auction. Seller thought it was a port tester?

Attached is the schematics for you. The write protect switch goes through a latch and not through the CPU, so that's why it's working - doesn't tell us anything about the state of the CPU. Maybe check to make sure both 5v regulators are working. Do you have another GT you can try swapping parts from?
I would check the voltages first before swapping parts, could end up frying a good part if a regulator is out of specs...
-
Have you checked any capacitors inline with pins 24-28 (A14-15, and D5-D7) from the CPU to ground? maybe a dry cap or a cold solder connection?
-
Yes, for single stage exe's it's pretty easy to do...
Back in 83-84, I made a program that could convert cassettes, carts and disk to one another. It's probably on one of those PD ATR's.

I was bidding on it, i had a bid for 255, but someone kept bidding it higher and higher and once they out bid me they retracted their bid. I suspected the auction poster is bidding from a couple different accounts. So I retracted all my bids. Now its back to where it was yesterday. I am purchasing one from metal guy, since it will already be updated with the latest and greatest, 1mb and will be tested and working. The one listed on ebay is listed as untested and no one even knows if its a 256 or 1mb version.
Best regards
Venom4728a
That could have been me bidding on that listing, one of the things I really wanted, but after checking my current eBay Bill and what's in the checking account, I would have been way over drawn and my credit card couldn't take any more

Sorry for any problems...
Best Regards,
Jay

I can't seem to get one of these damn things, they keep going for over $200 on Ebay!
Anyone have one to sell?
Yep, I was bidding on that one too. Had my bid ready to send at $180, then it jumped to $200...
Got the previous 830 though

Next time I'll have to have a bid of $250 ready I guess.
