  1. Did you try replacing the 74xx00 chip yet? This thing has a very minimal current draw from the SIO port...
  2. This is my revised and working diagram of the SIO2WiFi board.
  3. I'll use this diagram to build a programmer using a spare sparkfun FT232 board. Will post results afterwards...
  4. I don't have a Mega-STe, but have most of the rest A8's and ST's
  5. Thanks for the info, also been reading up on changing the baud rate and it seems that if you use the wrong AT command to set the baud rate, it can brick the ESP-01, but only needs to be reflashed with the current AT Firmware to use AT+DEFBAUD=9600,8,1,0,0..... :Lots of info on this bugger on the web.
  6. To configure or program / flash? From reading about these, you need to add a jumper between 2 pins plus add a switch to GPIO to enable programming.
  7. From what I've read, the ESP-01 is initially set to 57,600 baud and you need an Arduino or Sparkfun board to configure / re-program it. At the moment I have BobTerm set to 19.2k and it doesn't return "OK" when AT<return> is sent. Even tried slower baud rates too. When powered up, the Red LED comes on and the Blue LED flashes when it sends the initial "ready" message...
  8. So how do you configure the ESP-01 for 9600 baud? I now have mine wired up and can see data and it responds to keystrokes too. Had TX and RX backwards
  9. The 74LS00 is used in the R-Verter circuits and the driver is on those ATR's. I plan on making another board to use in the XLE / XLD too It will have a 5 pin header on that and just use a cable to plug it in...
  10. Yrs, the IC is a 74LS00. The Adapter board provides the 5v to 3.3v ;level shift by the use of Q1 and Q2 as sown in this schematic: ESP-01 Adapter module Schenmatic.pdf
  11. This is the layout I'll be building today.
  12. So, if you get a response from the ESP8266 when you pull / reset the GND Leg, but no response when sent any keystrokes, then it sounds like the TXD line is being kept in a low state somewhere in that path?
  13. Do you have the Sio2pc-usb module connected to a PC's USB port?
  14. The Macrotonics M800 is an hardware kit for the trs-80. Will have to look for it I've been talking to other old ham operators an no one so far hasn't heard of the RM-1000. The joy port connection is what I have coded so far, but looks like I need to replace some op-amps and a few other IC's to get mine fully working again. An RTTY decoder is the first program I made using the Assembler Editor cart in 1984 Edit: found a copy of that issue and it describes what the m800 is...

  18. After you boot into SDX, type RS232 and hit return. This will load the 850 code, a good load will be indicated by a long beeeeeep...
  19. Will do... My mom's boyfriend had his done a few months ago. It's a really simple procedure these days. They give you a light anesthesia that keeps you immobile so your eyes don't roll back inside your head and also stops you from blinking. They make a small incision, remove the cataract(s) ( I have 3 in each eye ), then insert the new lens and stitch it up. You are in the recovery room for an hour, then let you go home. You have to use special eye drops before and after the operation for a few days (I get mine tomorrow).. The only part that I won't like is wearing a protective cover over the eye as it'll remind me of my first eye surgery at 1 year old. They do 1 eye at a time... And thank you
  20. Think I'll hold off on building my 2nd XEL in favor of this new cool project I'll get New Eyes next month (cataract surgery) so I'll be able to see a whole lot better. It will allow me to stop using magnifying glasses to see. If it wasn't for my VA benefits, I'd be screwed...
  21. That's why I use the qualifier "Might" It would be very hard to part with...
  22. Since the incognito's are going for $200 - $250 on ebay, I might have to sell my spare as my motorcycle needs new tires soon...
  23. Yep, same here. bought many 600xl's, 800xl's and 800's for just the cartridge(s)
