1. I can remember there being pins for Lynx games, but I can't remember what it was about or how you were supposed to obtain them. What did you do to get all these?

most of them were in the lynx game packs in france...

i think they were never sold in the US, now BEST Electronics is selling them via their online catalog:

    best!

(scroll down to see the pins; RoadBlasters and Football are already sold out... so my offer might be the last chance to get a complete set... ;-))

Perhaps one thing that might help our shoppers out there is what pins you have. Kinda hard to tell from the picture.

    Shanghai,California,Viking child,Electrocop,Cyberball,Vindicators,Scrapyard dog,Robo Squash,STUN runner,Gauntlet,Road Blasters,Ninja Ame,Gates of Zendocon,Block,Warbirds,NFL football,Rampage,APB,Turbo sub,Zarlor,PAC-LAND,Klax,Hockey,Ishido,Blue lightening,Bill and Ted's,Rygar,Slime world,Xenophobe

  4. So I'm guessing you just unplug the EPROM from the PCB and plug it in the burner when you want to reprogram it, right? Sounds easy enough, although I think the term "burner" is somewhat misleading for uninitiated guys like me. It sounds like a write-once device. :D

And what's this I see in the AtariAge store about PCB boards with "sockets"? What is this "socket" used for?

    1012331

not quite, if you want to reprogram an EPROM you have to unplug it from the PCB, put it into an UV-Device that will erase it, and then you can put it into the burner again...

You can use socketed PCB-devices if you want to be able to remove your programed EPROM from the PCB, otherwise you have to solder it to the PCB - making it quite difficult to be removed, erased and reprogramed.

  5. Hello all.  :)

When a homebrew author makes a console game and wants to test his game on the real hardware, he has to transfer the ROM file to a PCB, right?. Are such PCBs rewritable? If so, what kind of support hardware does one need to transfer ROM files, and where does one buy PCBs 100% compatible with the ColecoVision? Is all this stuff expensive?

    1011936

well you transfer the Rom file to an EPROM (an erasable and programmable chip) and then you put this EPROM into an PCB like these: http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?cPath=41_71

to program the Eprom you´ll need an EPROM-BURNER of course (they´ll cost you 60$+...)

  6. awesome! ladybug is looking great already, i´m really excited about this release.

at the moment control is a bit to tight, it should be easier to use the doors and move around corners...

but anyway: it really looks fantastic, keep up that good work!

  7. from Lik-Sang:

After weeks of rumor and speculation, Nintendo today finally revealed its expected redesign of the Nintendo DS handheld system. Called the DS Lite, this new design will be released in Japan on March 2, 2006 and cost 16,800 yen (about 140 bucks US.) The redesign retains all the functionality of the standard DS, but makes things smaller, lighter and brighter.

The modified dual screen handheld has been tweaked into a smaller chassis. The new unit measures up to 133 mm wide by 73.9 mm tall by 21.5 thick. (that's compared to 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.99 mm in the original.) DS Lite weighs 218g, compared to the 275 g of the original.

DS Lite's biggest new technical feature is its updated set of backlit LCD screens. The system is brighter overall, and will give the user the ability to select from four different levels of brightness for viewing and/or battery consumption. A few other cosmetic changes were made to the new DS Lite -- there's a new hinge design, the power light was put on the left side of the hinge and is visible while the clamshell is closed, the mic is moved to top/center while the speakers are more centered, the Select and Start buttons are set on the bottom instead of top, and the power button is no longer on the front, and all of the dark button colors are changed to whites and grays. The cute DS logo is also placed on the front. Basic functionality, otherwise, looks to be identical to the original DS.

  8. Wow. I had no idea Ladybug was so endeared. Having just looked at screenshots, I thought it was just another Pac-Man/Mousetrap/Lock 'n Chase variant. The reaction on this thread has encouraged me to take another look. :)

    1006078

Lady Bug is imho way better than Pac Man or Mousetrap.

For me it´s what classic arcade games are all about. It has a fast, intense and very polished gameplay.

Compared to "Lady Bug" "Pac Man" is plain boring...

can´t wait to see this game on the 2600! :lust:

  9. I really would recommend that people playing Strat-O-Gems at minimum get the memcard to enable the instant replay and the "Great Plays" saves.

    1003421

i just bought a memcard for Strat-O-Gems and i strongly recommend buying one to everyone! It really adds to the game and it´s awesome to have your Highscore saved.

"Instant replay" and "Great Plays" really make this game stand out and shine!

    Every time i play Strat-O-Gems i can´t believe it´s an 2600 game!

(maybe AA can start offering bundles: Strat-O-Gems including a MemCard or AtariVox. I would love to see these features integrated into more Homebrews)

Gibt´s da was Neues?

  11. So I must be the first one to spot the subliminal message in that screenshot?

    1003568

:D it´s just a new way of spelling "EXTRA"

anyway: i´d just love to see a complete version of Lady Bug on the 2600. It´s the best game for the Colecovision and maybe one of the best old arcade-games ever!

  12. 2. Possible high score screen

    1000900

Get an AtariVox or memcard. You'll not only get a records screen, but the attract mode will show the plays with the deepest combo, the highest-scoring combo, and the combo with the highest unmultiplied single-"event" score.

    1000959

i just ordered a MemCard to see these extras and to save my score...

    i love the game!

  13. as í love Strat-O-Gems, i´m thinking about getting an MemCard to save my scores.

Now i´m wondering which other games already use the MemCard and what you think about the future use of the product?

Will it be used in future homebrews?

(oh, and wy can´t i get it via Atariage...? Would help me to save on shipping costs from the US to germany)

  14.

Which of the above is/are NTSC?

    1002663

Oystron, Ixion, Edtris and Xevious are NTSC
