Problems running Tandy/PCjr games with exclusive features
ventrra replied to youxia's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Oh I'm quite aware that games that use CGA, for example, will work just fine on my HX system. It's games that actually make use of the hardware that I've been trying to figure out. Also, the Moby games site is a useful resource, but I'm reasonably certain that some of the listing are incorrect, missing, or have other issues with the listings. -
Problems running Tandy/PCjr games with exclusive features

Not a help with your question, but I was looking for a list like that for games to run on my actual Tandy 1000 machines. Thanks for posting the link. -
I know little about electronics myself, but I would wonder if a more tactile key pad like this one would work as well. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832636919373.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allProduct.8148356.15.227349ecRa7wZo&pdp_npi=3%40dis!USD!US %241.75!US %241.57!US %241.57!!!!%402101e9d216836915524371744e9f4d!10000015762680130!sh!US!742887300&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

Also note that the difference between Tandy graphics and EGA isn't really all that big. Most common Tandy modes are: 160×200 with 16 colors, 320×200 with 16 colors, and 640×200 with 4 colors (from 16). While EGA uses: 640×350 w/16 colors, 640×200 w/16 colors and 320×200 w/16 colors. With a standard CGA monitor the differences are more difficult to discern than some screenshots found online would lead you to believe. Also, as Turbo-Torch commented, the 3-voice sound from a Tandy computer is quite a bit better sounding in general than the single "beeper" sound in most computers of that era.

The answer to which one is the all-in-one unit is: yes. I own two HX systems and the keyboards are reasonably good. (They're not bad on the RL line which has seperate keyboards, either.)

Intellivision Amico’s trademark changed to ‘abandoned’

I don't believe that the mouth was the part of that particular horse that was doing the talking. -
Oddly enough, the NDS version isn't anywhere near as bad. (It's not fantastic, though.)

Oddly enough, I don't actually own any rubber bands. I'll most likely just buy the proper belt for it when I get some time to work on it.
-
I used DeskMate 3 for years on my 1000HX. It worked well enough for the things that I wanted to do with it.
-
I knew I had mine put away somewhere. Unfortunately it has both a dead timekeeper and belt issues now.

Modern Day PET a Legit Possibility?

Has it? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1782606924.html?spm=a2g0o.home.15002.581.3c0f21454zMJsM&gps-id=pcJustForYou&scm=1007.13562.168240.0&scm_id=1007.13562.168240.0&scm-url=1007.13562.168240.0&pvid=27637224-8e86-4f12-9bf9-11b5c4bdab9d&_t=gps-id:pcJustForYou,scm-url:1007.13562.168240.0,pvid:27637224-8e86-4f12-9bf9-11b5c4bdab9d,tpp_buckets:668%230%23131923%2348_668%23888%233325%2310_668%232846%238108%231977_668%232717%237560%23267__668%233374%2315176%23480 -
It means that I still need to get something to play the several MVS carts that I own on.

Honestly, I would go so far as to say that even many of Data Age's games really aren't that bad.

It's most likely a famiclone gun. https://thefamicloneshelf.blogspot.com/2014/06/famiclone-light-guns.html

Your mileage may vary with them. I've bought a couple that worked just as good as the original wiimote and I have one that just doesn't work correctly.
-
Oh, I don't know about that. I think the "cash register" one has a kind of interesting retro-futuristic look to it. I've certainly seen and used worse keyboards in my time.
-
I was thinking along the lines of the 2600 save key, but this is a good notion, too. (For that matter: Why not both?)
-
This does make me wonder, though, how difficult it might be to make a pass through cart of some sort to add save functionality to it.
-
I have problems with most CRT filters as they really don't look much like most of the TVs I grew up with. Instead of scan lines, several of them had a sort-of pincushion look to them (aperture-grille perhaps?).

It interesting that no one has mentioned UltraVision who made Karate.

I have to admit that it's an interesting suggestion.
