  1.

Part of what you want has already been done. :)

    Wooahoow, nice work! Congratz.

    Change the pits to bushes.

Or... change the pits to trees and shrubberies in the early levels, then replace them with the pits in higher levels...

    Brilliant!

The kind of idea i'd liked to had.

Sometimes, I'am thinking about what concept could be used for a remake of ET... this is definitely a very good one!

  2. Yup, up. :) And maybe it's only an illusion, but it seem's to me your man covers ground faster when running diagonally? Maybe not? I try to zig-zag as much as possible anyway.

    Up too...

It's not an illusion: the X and Y position of the character are both increased/decreased at the same time so you reach a destination twice faster diagonally than if you move in two steps: vertically then hoirzontally (or inversely). ;)

Though, the progression on each individual axis remains the same so zig-zag or not will take the same amount of time to go (bottom <---> top) or (left <----> right).

About the fire of the robots... I don't shoot them (unless to avoid to be killed): on the contrary I let them continue their way because there can be only one fire robot at the same time on the screen.... this means that as long as it is displayed on the screen, other robots can't shoot at you.

  3. Almost doubled my previous score : 30,600

My tip : intensive use of diagonals shooting... if this can help... ;)

It's interesting to see who dislikes which kind of game the most. Tastes vary so much that I'm seeing some of my favorite games listed as top hates, such as Stellar Track, Megamania, and the ever controversial E.T. :woozy:

Indeed... E.T is one of my favorites too.

  4. I received my Harmony cartridge yesterday (only 11 days to come to France... really fast!).

I changed the firmware to Pal and wooohaooow it works like a charm (both on my 2600 and my 7800 scart model).

Thanks to all the people who created this wonderful cart!

  5. Hi there,

It's been years since my last visit... and oh god, there are so many wonderful new things here.

Harmony looks realy fantastic and I can't wait to get one.

But I'd like to know if I'll be able to use the Harmony cart with my modified 7800 (Eckhard Stolberg DevOS 0.2) without problems?

(I lost the original 7800 BIOS ROM... I know I'am unforgivable).

I've got another question related to the Harmony's Paypal order page: it's undergoing maintenance for more than 24 hours now, any idea when it will be operative?

I visited this page for the first time yerterday, so maybe it lasts for longer? Anyways, I hope it will be back soon.

    Glad to be back.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  6. E.T. is one of my favorite 2600 games and I think it is very underated.

Of course it cannot be played without reading the manual!

Then, it just requires some practice to learn how to manage the pits to avoid to fall again and again (and again... :)).

Completing the adventure may be hard without a good timing for the final part. Anyway with some game experience it is very exciting.

    Cheers

  7.

Thanks, I think that I've made my decision, I'll probably mod it and keep it (even though I have 3 others).

    Hi,

I'am curious : what mod are you using for your VCS(s) ?

Some years ago, I remember reading about 5-6 different techniques about modding the VCS with various quality results.

What are your advices about modding?

(I've got both a darth vader and a woodgrain models. I'am thinking about modding the Darth Vader model only and keeping my woodgrain as this).

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers,

    Chris
