Hi, I'am curious : what mod are you using for your VCS(s) ? Some years ago, I remember reading about 5-6 different techniques about modding the VCS with various quality results. What are your advices about modding? (I've got both a darth vader and a woodgrain models. I'am thinking about modding the Darth Vader model only and keeping my woodgrain as this). Thanks in advance, Cheers, Chris

It's been an eternity since the last time I came here and wooohaooow such a surprise. awesome! Thanks for the bin file!!! -
Well, not the kind of thing that makes the situation easier to analyse. Maybe a rare print error ? Anyway, my question concerns the text cart top labels. Like this one : Thanks

Hi, I'd like to know if the text label carts having a "P" after the model number (e.g : CX2604 - P) are always Pal Games ? I know that some games which don't have the letter "P" written after the model number may be Pal ones, but what about when the "P" is printed ? Thanks

Weird title screen display using Centipede (2600) with my 7800
khryssun posted a topic in Atari 7800
Hi, I've got a Pal 7800 and I noticed that the centipede 2600 cart (PAL too) didn't work properly when displaying the title screen : The 7800 displays a black background with instable and weird moving white patterns on the TV. This problem affect only the title screen.... when I start a game, the display is perfect. The carts I tested work fine using my 2600. I'am just curious to know if somehone else has noticed the same thing ? -

Does a NTSC cart / PAL system compatibility list exist ?

Thanks a lot for these fast answers ! About the missing pics, I found only one (the 1st of the 1st link) surfing on the web, but without the other ones, it's hard to go further. Anyway, I'll search again upcoming Week end. About the 2nd mod, did someone test it and may give feedback in comparison with benheck mod ? Better, equals or worst signal, parasites, colour balance, etc.. Thanks again. -
Does a NTSC cart / PAL system compatibility list exist ?

Thanks, it's very kind of you but don't loose your time, I decided to buy an NTSC one and to mod it. Thank all for your help & comments. buy 2 , mod them and sell me one at a cheap price Well I'am looking for the best composite mod to build. Ben Heckendorn's mod looks like fine regarding a comparison site I read : http://www.cheeptech.com/2600mods/2600mods.shtml But the link to his page is dead : http://www.cheeptech.com/2600mods/2600mods.shtml Does anyone know where to find the instructions for his mod concerning a standard 4 or 6 switches model ? Thanks in advance. -

Does a NTSC cart / PAL system compatibility list exist ?
khryssun replied to khryssun's topic in Atari 2600
Thanks a lot Spirantho, The Stella tip will be very useful by now. But indeed buying an NTSC console is a good suggestion. I'am thinking about it for a while, and I'am searching an easy way to connect it on a PAL TV. I'll have a look at the Video Composite mod and how hard it is to do it. And I agree, Pitfall's blue trees are awful... psychedelic... but definitely awful. Thanks again -
Does a NTSC cart / PAL system compatibility list exist ?

So it was you I always bid over... Honestly, how a die hard 2600 collector can admit such a thing ? Nice try anyway... Well, someone has *no joke* info please ? Albert ?, Eckhard ?, other old good fellows members still here for serious help please ? -
Red 'P' on the end label indicates PAL. But not always. Some PAL Obelix's do not have the "P" which drives NTSC collectors nuts. Yep ! And some PAL carts have a different front label too. About the 2 Obelix PAL carts I've got I noticed : - The cart without the "P" on the end label has the title written on a thin horizontal red bar on the front label. - The cart with the "P" on the end label has the title written on a wide horizontal red bar on the front label.

Do you still have your original collection from childhood?
khryssun replied to godzillajoe's topic in Atari 2600
I got my woodgrain VCS in 1981 and sold it some years after to buy the colecovision (I made a big mistake because I never felt the fun I had with my 2600). Anyway, the buyer didn't bought the whole bunch of games I had and some ones I own actually are from my original collection : - Haunted House - E.T. - Adventure - Berzerk - Basketball - Superman (box & manual only, I broke the cart ) - Othello Many years later I reveived a New Darth Vader Model as gift and when I decided to collect the games I started to buy the games I had had first to have my original collection : - Combat - Space Invaders - Swordquest Earthworld - Star Raiders - Raiders of the lost Ark - Star Wars : The Empire Strikes Back - Yar's Revenge - Defender - Superman (cart only) - Breakout - Vanguard - Pac-Man -
Hi all, I'am glad to come back to AA... it's been a long time since my last post, but who can live without his VCS for monthes... hmmm.... years ? Well, I decided to complete my cartridges collection and some games can be found (or are easier to find) in NTSC format. I've got VCS 2600 SECAM models (Which are PAL compatible) and a PAL Atari 7800. I know about the problems related to the frequency and scanlines characteristics, and as I've got many NTSC games I know that some work great with a PAL system and unfortunately other not. The main problems I encouter are : - Screen Roll (I can correct this using the V-Hold button of my TV, so it's a minor problem to me). - Black and White pictures (which is a consequence of the number of the game's scanlines if I'am not wrong) and can't be corrected because of a hardware "incompatibility". So rather than to try the "Buy and Test" option which can be expensive and very frustrating, I'd like to know if a game compatibility list exist regarding the use of NTCS carts with PAL systems (reporting some informations as screen roll, color alteration (occasionally / permanently), B&W colors... e.g.) ? This will be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Chris

Colours difference is related to the consoles hardware. SECAM ones Display only 8 colours (linked to luminance if I'am not wrong). The Rom is a PAL one as we can see on the 7800 screenshot.
