Hi Eckhard, thanks for your improvements BTW That let me think about a programming question (related to the PC)... I'm wondering if you know a method of fast screen display without using the VSync signal ? [ 09-13-2001: Message edited by: khryssun ]

Except Telegames UK, do you know other shops to provide PAL shrink wrapped Atari games in United Kingdom or Germany ?

Anyone ever have a completely common game elude them???

quote: Originally posted by Blackjax ...has anyone else ever noticed a sudden shortage of a game the minute you are actually looking for it? well, for me it's often the inverse situation : I think ... oh I'd like to find this one and... hop I found it somewhere in the 1-2 weeks. Except for 3 games that I definitely can't find : - Superman (PAL) - Empire Strikes Back (PAL) (Complete in Box) - Raiders of the lost Ark (PAL) (Complete in Box) But usually I'm surprised to find some not so common games quickly. The last ones : H.E.R.O. + Box Obelix + Box Schtroumpfs + Box (French SECAM version of Smurfs) ....hmmm, I was searching this last one for some monthes. and I'm waiting to receive : Space Shuttle + Box ($3.25) Subteranea + Box ($3.25) Volleyball complete in fox ($3.25) [ 09-07-2001: Message edited by: khryssun ] -

I just saw this telefilm (1999 U.S.). A VCS appears in a scene after Steve Wozniak crashes with a plane. He's playing on a B/W TV with a woodgrain model. I couldn't identify the game he was playing at(a kinda plane game shooter with horizontal scroll). The graphics were very rough. I'm not sure the game displayed was a real VCS 2600 game. Someone else saw this telefilm ? What's this game ?

Yep you are right. It's a good thing to begin a collection

It was in 1983... According the number of games you had bought you might receive from 1 to 3 games among a choice of more than 10 titles (first Atari games releases only). We had to cut and send the screenshot that was at the back of each Atari games box as proof of purchase. We had to give the list from the more wanted game to the less wanted one (in case of breaking off of stock). If I'm not wrong they sent you : 1 game for 5 games bought 2 games for 8 3 games for 10 The only bad thing was to cut those beautiful boxes I received my 3 games 2 monthes later : - Superman - Adventure - Basketball Had you this kind of Atari's offer in your country ? What have you won ? [ 09-07-2001: Message edited by: khryssun ]

Was the cart originally sold with the controllers ? Does the Keypad (Star Raiders) is compatible with the cart ?

VCS 2600 carts use roms compatible with 2716 (2k), 2732 (4k), 2764 (8k)... chips. Anyway you have to know the cart won't work just putting the Eprom in the place of the ROM as the chip select line is inverted (high not Low). So, you'll have to use a 74LS04 hex inverter to correct this. There are more infos about how to make the modification at the Hozer web site. BTW Yes Eprom burner are very expensive !!! But if you buy one I'll may need your services Hope this help.

quote: Originaly posted by Tempest Does anyone know if this is a real variation or if his TV is just out of whack? It's real I have the two versions in PAL. quote: Originaly posted by Eckhard ...Christian mentioned to me how his personal copy of Space Invaders is just too dark on his PAL 7800. Yes, I have one of the same space invaders cart as the one I sent you. As I said you in my email, the display is darker for space invaders compare to the other cartridges, but it's not the only cart to produce this effect (I encounter the problem with 2 or 3 other carts...i'll have to test them again, I don't remember which they are) As I said above, I have the both versions but, I won't call them "the Darker and the Brighter version" because I noticed this fact is only related to the system used : - The display is exactly the same for the two versions when using my SECAM system. (same intensity, same palette) - The display is dark for the both carts using my PAL 7800 (SCART Model) but they have a different palette : The 2nd player's score colors are different (Green for cart 1 and Blue for cart 2). The ground colors are different too. - Regarding your experience, VCS 2600 PAL users have a dark and light display. (with different palette I assume) Hope this help in the investigations. What's the most you've ever seen a whole collection sell for
khryssun replied to cvga's topic in Atari 2600
I remember have seen an auction at ebay for a *BIG* collection of many systems. maybe 5 or 6 different systems with toms of games. It was a lot of monthes ago I can't remember the price neither if there was a buyer. BTW avec you the link of the auction you are talking about ? -

I just receiced these 2 games in box About Obelix : The Atariage game list reports 2 entries : - The NTSC (Silver) Version - The PAL (Silver) Version with "p" on end label. It seems I have an other (Silver) PAL variation (...or maybe the Atariage Pics were inverted ?) My cart has the same labels as the NTSC version but it has the little P sticker at its back. Anyone else has the same PAL cart variation as me ? - About H.E.R.O. I know this cartridge was produced by at least 2 manufacturers H.E.S and Salu. How can I distinguish the 2 versions as there is nothing noticed on my box ? It has a game's screenshot and 2 dynamite sticks crossed at the box's back.

I Need to turn my 7800 into a ROM dumper (the Eckhard's Devkit2). So... Anyone can burn the Eprom (2764) with the new OS for me ? Of course I'll pay the EPROM and the postage. Thanks
