  1. quote: Originally posted by Marco I agree, but having respect for each other's opinions does not mean anything goes, i.e. any opinion is as good as any other... Sure, any opinion is as good as many other. By respect I mean to accept that other people may have a different opinion and to be okay with that. So, even if there's no issue things are easiest to live with that point of view. But I understand that you may have another opinion than mine
  2. originally posted by Marco quote: Ah, nihilist postmodern philosophy - you must be French It's not a nihilist postmodern philosophy... it's just to have respect for the point of view of other people.... just my way of thinking.... BTW, about philosophy Personnaly, I don't agree with nihilist schemes. Buddhist philosophy (I don't reffer to the religion) seems to be more comprehensive and positive to me. Yep, I am French, as said at the bottom of my post.
  3. In my humble opinion, there are no good or bad games... just because different people are looking for different things in games.... There are enough games in this world to make everybody happy !!! Preconception limits game pleasure... I don't appreciate people who need to argue the game they like is the best, just because it's the one they like... It's puerile... I think it's a general behaviour, a state of mind... it's the kind of persons who need to argue about everything (the best car, the most beautiful house...) I definitively hate proselytism So, I don't care about people like that because I don't like to waste my time... There's nothing to argue... let's everybody have is own opinion... and everybody will be happy I love to play Pong and Giants Citizen Kabuto and I'm proud of this !!!!!!!!

    SECAM 7800 ?

Eckhard, I confirm the 7800 came in France with a Peritel Cable. So you might think what I am thinking about... lol if the signal isn't coded in SECAM and the video output isn't modified, there are a lot of chances that the VCS 2600 part of the 7800 uses more colors than the 8 colors palette used by the SECAM VCS 2600. What do you think about that ?

    SECAM 7800 ?

I live in France and TV standard here is a weird thing called SECAM. So, the consoles using the TV connector (antenna) are SECAM (like the VCS 2600). As far as I know, the 7800 uses the Peritel connector instead of the regular antenna connector... so, I wondering if the 7800 sold in France weren't in PAL ? because using this type of connector, the signal doesn't need to be modified. Someone has informations about that ? [ 08-05-2001: Message edited by: khryssun ]

    Atari 3600

Reading an old magazine I found a small article about the "Atari 3600", the successor of the atari 2600. I think it was a temporary project name for the 5200 or the 7800... Someone may confirm this ? [ 08-05-2001: Message edited by: khryssun ]

  8. Lee, Always said that in a private email but thanks for playing Yars' Quest and for the review. BTW, please change my name in the review's header.... khryssun is a nickname Striker, These games are real projects... but as I have only 1 brain and 2 hands and few time, you'll have to be patient.... BTW I have another game in project I haven't made a fake label so far.... but It might be the first new game to be released. Regarding the threads, I think a lot of people will enjoy to play it. a "BIG" clue A.......e 2 [ 08-04-2001: Message edited by: khryssun ]
  9. GazP, I had a quick look a the code... I don't know the TIA so well... so... I had too much projects to go further with it. I've just notice 2 or 3 lines of code that may be optimized to win some CPU Cycles. But the code I have is probably out of date, you might have optimized the code in next versions....

  12. Object : Z26 SECAM palette This is a copy of the email I send to Eckhard. I post it here for information. Any help will be appreciate to complete tech info about the SECAM palette. Informations I have collected using a SECAM VCS: Yars' Revenge : Make a score above 100000. When the score screen is displayed, wait until the score's color change. then it turns to Grey (Mid Tone). The Dark Green color I've noticed in the Space Invaders score (see previous post) may be this grey color altered with some image echo. It's hard to say because the VHF image is not a very high quality image. Space Invaders Power on the VCS, Start a new game and loose. Now whe have a double 0000 score at the top of the screen. Let the colors roll : The grey color appears clearly in some screens. In some time the score appears in dark red on red background then dark purple on purple background. I noticed the image echo factor is important and alter the visual perception of some colors. In the same way some sprite / background colors combinations make the perception of a same color darker or lighter. So I don't know if these dark red / dark purple colors are true ones or just an alteration of the grey color on regular red / purple colors backgrounds. Anyway, regarding the Stella manual or my tech knowledges I can't explain this 9th color. There's no sense for a number like 9. That corresponds to nothing ! any idea ?
