  1. Eckhard,

Thank you very much for your explanations

I played on my SECAM system (This is the only system I own). Regarding the Stella manual it seems normal it works like a PAL VCS because if i'm not wrong the SECAM version is a kinda hacked PAL VCS.

That's exactly what happens with my system... The same thing occurs with Fishing Derby depending the position of the shark/fishes.

    It seems you may

    BTW

Regarding the SECAM palette color, I noticed other strange things using some of the new games I received (PAL and NTSC). I have to compile these infos... I'll posted my remarks when it's done.

I think the Stella Manual is incomplete about the SECAM specifications.

I wondering if more than 8 levels of luminance aren't used to produce the SECAM palette (in fact, maybe a combination between the 16 color values and the 8 luminance values used by the Color Luminance Registers).

If not, an other factor must modify this 8 colors palette.

I'll let you know my observations...

    Thanks again

  2. Strange thing happens with the 32 in 1 cartridge I've just received.

All the games work perfectly except 4 ones :

    - Space Jockey

    - Fishing Derby (Crabs version)

    - Boxing

    - Fishing Derby (Normal version)

These games are displayed with the normal colors as long as I don't start the game but they turn to black and white mode when I activate the "Game Reset" Button (or the fire button for Space Jockey).

    What's that ?

Did Anyone encouter a such problem ?

    Any help/info is welcome.

(I have no problems with my other cartridges).

    Thanks

  3. Hello Albert,

It seems my last email passed through...

    Anyway,

I've build the interface (2 joysticks support).

I made some tests and It works great :

I played Combat and Raiders of the lost ark using my 2 old good Atari joysticks with WinPCAE

I just have to give the final touch to the circuit and perform more tests and it should be ready for shipping whithin 2-3 days.

If you can dig out my email with my trade list please let me know if it's ok...

If not, let me know and I'll send it back to you.

    Take Care ,

    Chris

  6. Albert,

Which company produced this French catalog? Atari?

Yep it's an Atari Catalog with only first common games. Pretty rare I think (I sent one of the 2 catalogs I owned to twit )

Out of topic but Have you received my mail about the joystick adapter and the trade list I sent you yesterday?

  8. I agree with Albert about the honor system.

I don't want to be pessimistic but cheating is a part of the human nature.

We trust in all the long time Atari Age members but what about new-comers ?

So, Taking screenshots with an emulator will be a good way to validate a score.

But not just a common screenshot, because as Albert said :

    quote
And even screenshots can be faked extremely easily

What we need is an Encoded Screenshot.

    What is it.... ?

In fact, it's a concept I will include in my next VCS Simulator game (I plan to make a Highscore contest for this incoming game).

This system will allow to secure screenshots so it will be easy to detect a modified screenshot files.

Maybe it will be interresting to include this feature in Z26.

There's many way to program such a thing, but nobody has includes a such feature so far... It seems Nobody thought about that.... till now

  9. Dutchman,

I'am happy to see that an other programmer is looking to complete the swordquest series.

I've planned to released Airworld for my VCS Simulator too.

But I had suspended the project for lack of infos.

Anyway I wrote my own storyline.

I haven't create the puzzles / game mechanismes so far... I've just throw some ideas on a paper.

    This is my storyline :

Torr must find and capture the pegasus.

So, using the pegasus he will be able to reach a new zone of the game where the Knowledge Stone (or Philospher's Stone) as been hidden.

Then, he will have to find and use this magic stone to find and deliver is twin sister.

    Thats all folks !

Im looking at the asteroids cartridge (8k) and theres only 1 chip on the card.

    Oh Oh

Seems the infos I get reffering to the bankswitching are wrong... or imcomplete.

Anyone has informations about that ?

  11. It's an auction I found at Ebay.

It's a 32 in 1 prototype cart. The description says it's not THE Atari 32 in 1 cartridge prototype but it's not a homebrew cart neither.

    The seller says :

    quote:

I got it from a company that was to licence the rights to produce A2600 carts but at the end they produced only few prototype copies

I just want to let you know... may be interresting...

  12. I've just win the 32 in 1 cartridge at an auction site (I'll receive it within 10 day )

How does the selection of the differents games work ? I tried to test the ROM image with Z26 but I can't reach the 2nd game.

Is there a dipswitch included in the real cartridge ?

  13. 2716 2k

    2732 4k

    2732 * 2 8k

    2764 8k

8k (and above) cartridges use extra chip for bankswitching.

On the Atari chips, the chip select line is active high, so you'll have to use a 74LS04 inverter with Eproms.

    hope this help
