  1. Are you in Albany, NY? Are you going to the 6pm showing of Solo at Crossgates Mall? If so, hit me up in line. I've got a cool freebie for everyone who shows up.

Is it a SOLO cup? Because I have a whole sleeve of those already. I'm hoping they'll be worth a lot of money someday!

Too far away unfortunately ...Have fun!

  2. I hoped we could set up a betting pool on whether or not the AtariVCS would have a successful funding campaign. Unfortunately I think everyone would bet against it. Failure to launch seems most likely at this point. The only thing I can say in their favor is that enough people got suckered into funding the Game Band. I honestly feel sorry for them. That's a lot of money to lose on an obvious scam. Up until recently I have never regretted backing a crowd funding project. Unfortunately I backed on of those new Coleco table top machines and instantly regretted it.

  4. Any crowd funding scheme where NuTari gets to keep all the funds, even if the funding isn't successful, is a complete and total scam. I imagine even the most gullible potential investor wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. BTW, your subliminal taco advertising forced me to go out and eat some tacos yesterday. Unfortunately I just had my gallbladder removed and I forgot about my doctor's warning that I couldn't eat fatty or greasy foods for at least a few months. The results were definitely unpleasant. Damn you taco fiends!
  5. Do you ever think the folks from NuTari browse this topic and see all the taco posts? Do you think it makes them hungry? Are they humble enough to accept valid criticism, and wise enough to gage public opinion, and to use this input to shape their new product for the better? Or are they just doing what we've always thought they were doing, which is planning to fleece everyone in a nostalgia based cash run, scamming as much money as they can before the whole thing goes up in flames? I've gotta think the agents of NuTari have seen this thread at least once. Look at the Retron77 topic. At least the folks from Hyperkin are bold enough to represent themselves directly on the forum. What if someone from NuTari did the same? What would you say to them?
  6. Here's my idea for a new movie. Alien VS Predator VS Kool-Aid Man. Oh yeah! It's surprisingly refreshing.

      Kool-Aid Man could beat Thanos.

  7. I really want to purchase a new homebrew game but I'm having trouble choosing just one. Too much good stuff came out all at once.

I’m having the same delimma with the Atari 2600. I want to start buying homebrews from the AA store, but I can’t decide on which game to buy first. Should I start with Draconian or Star Castle? Assembloids or Scramble? My AA wishlist is enormous. Lol I want to buy every homebrew release for the 2600.

@ Keatah - I just read your response; good advice! But it still doesn’t make the decision process any easier (not for me at least).

that's the dilemma i faced with the 2600 homebrews. i finally took the Keatah strategy and bought Ladybug and Pacman 4k. :)

  8. You know the other kids on Atari Age are saying we are a containment thread. Give to to me straight folks. Are we really a containment thread?
  9. I actually backed the Dreamcade and I'm still trying to figure out why. Part of me was motived by my own pure laziness, knowing full well that I could build my own emulation station but being too lazy to do so. For many years I rocked the original Xbox and a tremendous emulator program called CoinOPS. I'm sure you've heard of it. That more than satisfied my emulation needs for years. Unfortunately my Xbox is getting old and noisy and in need of basic repairs. It's also HUGE and I need to make space in my entertainment center. I was hoping a mini PC emulation center would satisfy my needs. I'm still not sure I should have backed the Dreamcade. I guess I'll find out if my faith was well placed if / when the thing ships on May 22nd.
  10. About this Neo Mini. First I have to say that I really prefer the Japanese version. It just looks so much better. The International version just looks bland. Still, I'm a sucker and I'm buying this machine no matter what. I don't know how playable it will be because the width is so tiny, but it's just so darn cool looking.
  11. I can't be the only person who prefers the look of the Japanese version over the International version.
  12. Has anyone had gallbladder removal surgery? If so, how long did you remain in pain?

    1. Jess Ragan

      Jess Ragan

Yes. That was back in 2013. I had to have it out because I had pancreatitis and it was causing me intense pain. I was pretty messed up; stayed in the hospital for two months after that.

I did last year. Had pancreatitis and gall stones. Felt so much better after it was removed, only mild pain after for less than a week.

  13. I don't know why but I find Duck Attack extremely compelling. I'm also a huge fan of Super Cobra. Making us pick just two games is brutal. Some of these titles are like apples, oranges and bananas. Impossible to compare.
  14. I keep asking this question and no one wants to answer. Another vital question is what does NuTari have in the terms of software? What can they use to sell the box that will make people buy it? I'd love to see someone give this a serious answer, someone who knows their catalog, but I expect I will be met with gifs and pictures of delicious tacos instead. Maybe William Shatner will also make another appearance?
  15. All of the recent uodates aound great. I really appreciate that Hyperkin is being so open about the development of their new console. I am unconcerned with a price increase, as long as its a quality product. I do have to say that Trak-ball support is vital to me. I also wish this machine ran 7800 games. I know Stella doesnt support 7800 tittles, but it still seems like a missed opportunity. The additional compatibility would definitely be another strong selling point.
  16. I hate to say this but no Harmony cart = no sale. I have a massive library of original carts and hardware, but it's the convenience of the Harmony cart that makes its exclusion a deal breaker for me.
  17. There's a part of me that wants to pretend that NuTari wants to make a legitimate product and not just a nostalgia based cash-run scam. I say this knowing full well that the people making this product are borderline criminals. I think we should start a betting pool. Will the VCS crowd funding campaign succeed? Will the campaign be delayed again? Will the product ever see the light of day?
  18. Activision Ice Hockey and Tennis. I constantly played those games as a youth and they still hold up today. Enduro is also on my list if we're counting motor sports.
  19. If we're re-branding Atari SA my vote goes for NuTari. The name seems to best exemplify the counterfeit nature of the whole company. Back on topic, here's one thing I cannot wrap my brain around no matter how many times I crunch the numbers. How can NuTari make this console a success? I'd really like to see someone give this question an honest answer, because every time I consider all the possibilities I still can't come up with a winning hand. Say this machine runs every Atari console and Atari computer game in existence. Well that's certainly enticing but how is that any different from a Raspberry Pi machine, or the PC that I'm using to write this post? It could also be a fantastic media player, running every type of video file under the sun. That's always useful but I already have three devices in my home, including my smart TV, that will run my vast library of digital videos. So what about original gaming content? What IPs does NuTari have other than Roller Coaster Tycoon and Tempest? I was a backer of the Ouya, and I owned both models, the original and the 1.1 black version. To this day I still believe the micro console is a viable idea that no one has done correctly. The Asian market is flooded with Android media boxes. Most of them are hit or miss when it comes to gaming. There's also streaming game boxes like the Steam Box and PSTV, both of which offered streaming gaming and both of which basically failed. How is NuTari going to succeed with the Atari Box where others have faltered? It just seems that the more you think about this product, the more you realize that it has absolutely nothing going for it but a name.
  20. Well, after catching up on the past 20 pages of this topic my head is spinning. I also have a strange craving for tacos. With that said, here's my main concern. After reading some of your posts I'm worried the Retron 77 won't support the Harmony cart. When I first talked to the developer of this console at E3 he told me that he knew this is something many potential buyers would want from his product. However after reading some of your posts it seems like it's technically not feasible. Can anyone clarify this issue once and for all? Just spell it out for me because I'm honestly confused. Another reason I ask this question is because Hyperkin has usually been against the use of flash carts. I remember back in the day when the company was doing demos of the Retron 5 here in LA. Back then it was just an unfinished product in hidden inside a black box. I asked one of the devs if it would support flash carts like the Ever Drive. He actually seemed a bit offended and gave me a long spiel about how they would never support such devices because they were dedicated to the integrity of the retro gaming community. I understood his position even if I did not agree with it.
  21. I hate to say this but I'm worried this thing will have a high price tag. Like $300 range. Either way, I'll still buy it. The hardware looks amazing.
  22. Dear Hollywood, please put Elizabeth Debicki in more films. I'm in love with that golden haired giantess.

  24. I like the idea of companies doing repros of their classic games, but not at this price. $100 is ridiculous.
  25. This should be the box that unites the entire Atari legacy under one roof. Not just 2600 but all the Atari consoles and some of the computer stuff as well. If Atari SA understood this basic idea they might have a chance at capturing the nostalgia market. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to happen. Maybe someone will find a way to run emulators on this device. Even if they did the machine would still have few advantages over a Raspberry Pi rig.
