Looks like the classic controller will be sold separately.

So the game is on. I never thought they'd actually do it. Two things that concerned me from the recent announcement. One, Indiegogo. The site that doesn't require you to have a functional prototype before you start a funding campaign. Two, the controllers are being made by Power A and their stuff is usually crap. They basically want people to pay up front for an empty box that might come out sometime in 2019. It all feels like a long con. I don't know Indiegogo's refund policy but I fear there might be a chance that investors will never see a return on their money. With that said, this thing is going to cause so much drama over the next year or so. It's definitely going to be a fun time for me. Come and take my money you ridiculous con men.

Game.com, oh come on. There were two systems?
Dr Manhattan replied to towmater's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I actually like this system. I own two models, the original and the back-lit model and an almost complete collection of games. Op is right about the motion blur. It makes most games unplayable, but there are still a few gems in the bunch, including Lights Out and Resident Evil. The Game.com also proved the viability of touch screen gaming long before the Nintendo DS hit the market. The system was even planed to have it's own touch screen virtual pet game, similar to Nintendogs, but it never saw the light of day. I'm still in the market for a colored shell version of the system, and any games I might not already have in my collection. -
Hopes and dreams.

New Style Jag Hats, Jaguar shirt, and Activision patches!
Dr Manhattan replied to Machine's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I'll take the gray hat. Sending you a PM now. -
I truly hope someone sees this idea and decides to produce a new Atari 5200 controller. If the Atari Jaguar can get new pro-controllers in 2018, a new 5200 controller could be possible as well.

The weekend fast approaches and the end of the month falls on Tuesday. I can't see them announcing anything over the weekend. So if this is going to happen it's most likely we'll hear something in the next 48 hours, or on Monday. I'm thinking that at this point Atari SA is just going to pretend that they didn't set a late April deadline for their announcement, and we'll be met with total radio silence for the next couple of days.
-
So we're five days out before the reveal deadline. We should start a betting pool to see who thinks this is really going to happen or not. The problem is that I don't see anyone placing a bet in favor of Atari SA.

Honestly I don't see this thing ever seeing the light of day. I'm waiting for the inevitable "we've delayed things again" announcement that's sure to come at the end of this month. If the VCS scam does one thing it gets people talking about Atari. Hopefully that will bring new people, and lapsed gamers, back into the fold where they can be introduced, or reintroduced to the classic Atari catalog which is incredibly enduring and playable even after all these years. Edit: I had no idea Tempest 4000 was available on PS4. Will definitely check it out.

What were you gaming with in 1995?
Dr Manhattan replied to KWKBOX's topic in Classic Console Discussion
SNES, Saturn, Jaguar. Also driving around with a 19" color TV on the back seat of my car, covered in a blanket, and a 2600 and a bag full of games in the trunk. -
You know who ruined video games? Absolutely no one. The industry is thriving and retro gaming is better than ever before. I'm having more fun now than I did when i was a kid. Mainly because of the advancement of technology (retro flash carts, etc) and because I actually have the dough to buy the stuff I want. Gaming is great and I'm lucky to be part of such a fantastic hobby.

Every console rises and falls on its software library. This has got me thinking. What kind of software could Atari SA provide for this console? I thought that Warner Bros owns much of the classic Atari catalog. Is this true? Are there any games that would be compelling enough to make you purchase the Atari Box? I just can't believe that Atari SA thinks they're going to sell this thing with the same collection of games we have seen on the Flashback consoles and on various disc based compilations. Personally, I must admit that I am going to back the box, mostly for the lulz. I think it's kind of humorous how much people hate this thing. I mean people REALLY hate it. I feel like a wrestling heel just by giving it my support, and that cracks me up. Yes, it's probably a big waste of money. Yes, I shouldn't be supporting this scam or the criminals behind it. I know full well that this is a complete and total scam. I can't help it though. I'm a hardware junkie. I'm going to use the $500 I recently won on a scratch off ticket to fund my purchase. I guarantee you that I won't be the only person on this forum who buys one, and this includes people currently mocking the device. If this machine gives me a comfortable way to play the new Tempest 4000, then it will be worth it for me. Prepare the slings and arrows.

Skid row is only a few blocks away. They're not listed in the A-Z exhibitor listing either. Perhaps they'll pull an Ouya, and display their products in a parking lot across the street from the convention center.

Atari can afford to exhibit at E3? That's surprising. I expect the Atari Box shell will be displayed under glass, no software will be shown or announced, and the whole thing will be a hustle much like the Phantom Console I saw many years ago.

If you watch his official statement video it appears he's getting ready to launch a counter offense against TG and his accusers. I'm actually intrigued to see what he comes up with. I still believe his Pac-Man records should be allowed to stay. As for his Donkey Kong record the guy should just sit down at a machine and break a million points, if he still can. I'm wondering if that's an issue here. Can he still do it?

I gotta wonder if Billy is ever going to speak out on this matter.
