  1. Is it possible the paperwork was filed months ago, and it was only entered into the E3 database (automated) two weeks ago?

Mike, if you want an easy- to -bullshit crowd, E3 isn't the spot I'd choose...

That's an interesting theory. I wonder if we have any AA members on the company registry who could answer this question?

And you're right, if the Retro VGS shows up again at E3 it will be utter pandemonium.

E3 2016 is already going to be a very controversial show. The expo lost four major exhibitors this year. Activision, EA, War Gaming and Disney. EA is actually holding their own show, which is open to the public and will compete directly with E3. However, Take 2 / Rockstar, has said they're going to attend E3 in a "big way." There's also going to be the possible launch of the PS4K and the Xbox 1.1. Both of these consoles have the potential to be the 32X of this hardware generation. Throw another Retro VGS prototype in the mix and things will get really crazy.

Just checked the official exhibitor list and they don't have a booth. Doesn't mean much though as many companies will take meetings at the show in the conference rooms, without actually having booth space on the floor.

This will be my 17th trip to the Expo. Can't wait!!

  2. Today I was scheduling appointments with companies that will attend E3 Expo 2016. That's when I noticed this suspicious entry in the company database.

    Retro VGS, INC

    Registered on May 3rd, 2016.

They were addded to the company registry just a few days ago. Thoughts? Is Retro VGS, INC coming back from the dead?

I have included a screen shot from the Connect @ E3 App used by exhibitors and attendees.

  3. So what is the general consensus on the consolized MVS game systems? I'd love to hear any thoughts or opinions. My current goal to purchase a consolized MVS before the end of the year. I'm also going to buy a multi cart, as well as few original single game carts.

Do you have a favorite version of the consolized MVS? Do any of you own one? Any tips for a first time buyer?

Thanks in advance for your help. This is a great topic!

  4. Hey Guys,

So I'm in need of a little advice. I actually own two Neo Geo X systems. You see I reside on two coasts, spitting my time between NY for 1 month a year, and California for the rest of the year. A few years ago I was given a Neo Geo X at Christmas. I played it for a while, but never got the chance to bring it back from NY, so it's been sitting in a box ever since.

Well recently a friend of mine was moving out of town here in LA, and for helping him pack up and move, he gave me a number of retro gaming consoles and games. Among that lot was a brand new, unopened Neo Geo X along with Mega Pack Vol 1. Now the box is a little worn, but the system is not opened and is basically brand new.

Now my ultimate goal with Neo Geo gaming was to get a consolized system. That goal is not going to change. I just need to finish my research and decide which one I want to get. Right now I'm learning towards the Neo Geo Omega.

So with that said, what do I do with this Neo Geo X? Do I open it up? Should I upgrade the firmware? It's going to be a while before I buy my consolized MVS system. I'd love to get a cheap Neo Geo fix to hold me over. However I've heard nothing but bad things about the Neo Geo X.

I've heard the system is nothing more than Final Burn Alpha running on Android based hardware. Well I can always play FBA on my modded OG Xbox. I'm also wary of reports claiming there is significant input lag when you use the joystick / TV set up. This might be a deal breaker for me. I have a very fast TV with very low input lag. It's always a concern for me. I know CRT is always best when it comes to classic consoles. Unfortunately my house in LA is not set up for a second television.

So what do you think I should do? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Come by if you have any additional questions Dr. We look forward on see you on the thread! :)

    Anthony...

Thanks very much for having me! And also thank you for all that helpful information. I have loved the Neo Geo for years. The games on that system age like wine and they never seem to get old. Here in my city it seemed like there was always a 2 or 4 slot MVS machine within walking distance. Now I've noticed they're starting to dwindle. I've decided it's finally time for me to invest in my own hardware. Currently trying to decide between the AVS or the consolized MVS. I'm leaning towards the latter. Specifically a unit called the Neo Geo Omega. Honestly, if I had the cash I would just buy both. :D

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I'll keep you posted on my quest.

  6. Do any of you play your Neo Geo systems on modern HDTVs? If so how does it far with issues like input lag? I have a fairly decent TV with a very low input lag, but I know nothing beats a true CRT. Unfortunately space is at a premium here in Los Angeles, and I don't have the room for a second television.

Also, how do the graphics look on modern television? Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

  7.

So do you think there will be something more than the ability to play 4k video and games upscaled to 4k? Too soon for anything more than that unless there are peripherals where the USB 3 ports are usable...

I believe both systems will have more power under the hood. Xbox so it can escape the stigma of being the less powerful system and the PS4 so it can dedicate the extra horsepower to the PSVR. I also believe that new console games will run on a sliding scale based on specs, like with PC games.

  8. So do you think that people who currently own the Coleco brand will just give up on releasing a new Coleco branded console? Or do you think they might find someone else to make a new product, totally unrelated to the Chameleon, but having the Coleco brand?

What if they went with a company like Innex and made a "trio" style multiconsole that played games from various classic game systems? Or what if they just made a clone version of the classic ColecoVision? Something tells me they're not just going to walk away from the retro market.

  9. I'm thinking of getting this one. How is it? How does it run?

I was actually surprised at how well it works in the Vita. They clearly cut a few corners here and there, but its still a very solid port. It's a great deal of fun. I'm currently trying to beat it on all levels of difficulty. No easy task.

  10. Just when I thought this thread was cooling down. Just went I thought things had run their course. Another megaton hits. Wow, just wow.

I almost feel kinda sad for these people. In their attempt to create a new business they destroyed their old business and forever tarnished their personal reps. Sad indeed.

I'm also expecting AA server overload on day 7, aka "review day." I'll be here. My popcorn is ready.

  11. How close are we to the end of the 7 day deadline?

Has anyone visited the RetroVGS Facebook page lately? The page still has 19,864 fans. Do you think they were all legit or are some of these "fans" the kind you can buy in bulk on Black Hat sites and Fiverr? The average post on the RetroVGS Facebook receives around 250 likes. Their videos have received thousands of views. Coleco Holdings LLC has around 880 followers on Twitter.

How much legitimate interest was there really in this product? I mean the IG campaign failed spectacularly, would the Kickstarter have failed too? Even with a working prototype?
