  1. I can't wait for PRGE! Woo hoo!

  2. Remember when I said that I was hoping to purchase a Neo Geo console by the end of the year? Well I finally got one! Ok, maybe not a real one, but this mini Neo Geo Gashapon toy is really neat! It actually comes with a tiny Metal Slug cartridge and a super tiny memory card. The attention to detail is amazing! You can even plug in the controller cord and insert the cartridge and the memory card. I've been a collector of the History Collection consoles for some time. Although this console isn't part of that line, it fits in well with my collection. The other 3 carts are also titles in the Metal Slug series. Each cartridge came with a different Metal Slug vehicle and figure. I'll upload pictures of those toys sometime soon.
  3. I just bought an Invisible Man action figure. I put him down somewhere and now I can't find him because he's invisible.

  4. I'll be there with bells on. Ok, not literal bells, but I am going and I'm really excited about it. PRGE has quickly become the best retro gaming convention on the West Coast.
  5. After years of waiting I finally got to see Dawn of the Dead 3D! Ken Foree was in the audience along with several original zombies. Best 3D conversion ever!

Sounds fun! They have a Zombie-Fest each year here in town where people dress as Zombies and I think they try to get lesser known actors from Zombie flicks to visit and watch the movies on a screen set up in a historic theatre building...

  15. To play them, and really, for no other reason. The Atari 2600 is probably my all time favorite console. It's games still have incredible play value. Also nothing beats a box full of carts and your 2600.
  16. This whole topic gave me a terrible case of Pac-Man fever. For the record I loved Pac-Man back in the day. Of course Ms. Pac-Man was a million times better. But who can forget that classic audio from the original Atari 2600 Pac-Man? It's burned into my brain forever. I can hear that chomping sound, and the classic death music even as I type this post.
  17. While I agree with the general idea that poor quality homebrew is bad for the market, and bad for us as a community, I'm going to stay positive. I'm more interested in homebrew gaming than ever before. There are just so many games I have yet to play, and so many that I want to play, that I'm almost more interested in homebrew than I am in modern gaming. There are new homebrew titles that are equal to, or better than, many of the games that were released back in the day. And while I won't mention anything specific because I don't want to blow up any egos, there are certain games that really amaze me. When I see them I find it hard to believe that the developers actually created this stuff for vintage hardware. These are real technological marvels that just don't seem possible on hardware made in the 1970's.
  18. Man, I am really going to get in trouble for this one.... Before I say anything, let me put on my running shoes. Ok....Here goes... I don't like the Heavy Sixer. I think it's ugly as sin. I think the Light Sixer is a sexy little beast that's looks a million times better than the heavy model. *runs away as fast as I can*
  19. I think Analogue Interactive makes some very nice products. However I have a question about this one. If it's using similar FPGA hardware to the AVS, what justifies the $450 price tag? This is a serious and totally respectful question. Their NT was just oozing with style, truly beautiful design, but is that reason enough to justify the higher price tag? In regards to the competition, I have to say that the guy behind the AVS is the most dedicated and obsessive NES fan I have ever met in my life. I only met him briefly at PRGE last year, but I've been following his posts on another forum for almost a year now. I can definitely say that his dedication lends a great deal of credibility to his product. This is definitely the guy I want making my next gen NES hardware. So I'm just trying to figure out how Analogue Interactive is going to position their new hardware against the cheaper AVS and the NES Mini. Again, I have tremendous respect for the folks at Analogue Interactive. They make fantastic products, but in this case I think they're facing an uphill battle. Also this is a question you purists might be able to answer. Wasn't there a reason why the folks at RetroUSB limited their AVS console to 720p? I'm certain there was no limitations to their technology. I have been discussing the AVS on this forum and elsewhere on the web, so I might be losing track of where I'm hearing all this info. Can anyone answer these questions for me?
