  1. I've just about had it with the way Apple does things and for the first time in years I'm considering dumping my iPhone. Unfortunately my only other options is the dreaded Android OS. Yuck! I can't win either way.

It was years ago, but I used iSyncr once to bring over a bunch of Christmas music from an iTunes playlist for an event. I love Apple/iOS phones, but it's a bummer they don't have an MicroSD card slot & removable battery. I had an iPhone 4S which I loved, but it was getting too slow to use. I impulsively bought a refurbished Galaxy S5 thought a slickdeals post a few years back. It's a pretty old phone now, but it's been rooted & without all the bloatware & an extend...

  2. Hey AtariAge I need your help. Can someone please measure their original Intellivision console and give me with measurements? If you also own the voice module could you insert it and give me a second measurement for the width? Thank you very much.

  6. Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2018 will soon be upon us. This thread is an invitation to all you website authors, bloggers, YouTube creators, and Instagram users to post your content in this topic, for the benefit of those of us who can't attend the show this year. It will be great to see your content! Please help out your fellow Atari Age members who can't make it to the show this year. Have fun at PRGE!
  7. I'm really looking forward to getting Mappy, Space Game and Dungeon II! I hope boxed versions of these games will be made available online.
  8. That's funny. He didn't seem nearly as shady as I expected.
  9. Beans are a perfect food. All you bean haters are heretics! You shut your dirty mouths! And contrary to any childhood limericks, I have never experienced any musical side effects from eating them. Back on topic, did any other backers receive an email from Nutari today? Basically asking you to share your support for the VCS on social media? Very strange.
  10. Purchase has been made! Very excited to receive the final product. Now if only some kind soul would list every game that benefits from these new controllers. I know a few but I'm not sure I have the complete list. Thanks very much to all the people who helped make this happen! You have my sincere and most heartfelt thanks!
  11. Placed an order with GameReproductions.com over four months ago. Still have not received my game. Thinking I got ripped off.

Still 4 months is a hefty wait...I waited over 3 months once on AtariAge, ...Turned out to be a mistake, but Albert totally took care of it.

Depends on what it is. If it's something their out of, they may never tell you they are out.

  12. I think I'm going to back this project at some point. I really want this console to succeed. It's a great value for $200. Games, hardware upgrades, etc, you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. I also respect the team behind this project. To put it bluntly I think they've really got their stuff together. I trust them to make a great product. My only reservation is that I wish this unit also supported AV out. There's some of us who would still like to play this console on our CRT monitors.
  13. Let me tell you, there's a big part of me that still thinks these folks are going to run off with my money and I won't get anything in return. It's a risk I have to take. It definitely feels like gambling.
  14. Eating a nice breakfast and reading Atari Age. It's a great way to start the day!

  15. I'm getting a vision. PS5 at E3 2019. A new Nintendo handheld. A tiny version of the Switch. Two year console cycles for Xbox and Sony hardware. Both PlayStation and Xbox will eventually evolve into Netflix style game streaming services. Once they overcome some serious technological hurdles. As for now. I'm very pleased with both my PS4 Pro and my Xbox One X. I'm really enjoying the new Spider-Man game on PS4, and I can't wait to play Red Dead Redemption II on my Xbox One X. I understand that the demands of life, work, kids, family, etc drive a lot of older gamers out of the modern console market. The cost can also be prohibitively high. At this point in my life I feel pretty lucky to still be hanging in their and having a great time as well.
  16. Awful click bait.. All accompanied by the most cringe worthy YouTube video I've seen in a while. YouTube talking heads were definitely a mistake. If I hear one more armchair expert tell me stuff like "EPIC FAIL" I'm literally going to puke. Then I'm going to film the act of me puking, and then put in on YouTube. That will certainly be a video more worthy of your time than this one. TBH, he isn't saying anything we haven't heard a million times before. "Not my Atari." "Hey you kids, get off my lawn." "Lack of proper updates." While some of this stuff should be concerning to those of us who took the risk of investing, it's still nothing that's going to dissuade my support. I get it. Nutari is a shady company. Even most of the investors in this forum have admitted this is true. I get it. This isn't "your Atari" or the "real Atari" which is based upon some arbitrary criteria all relevant to the individual making the statement. At the end of the day, it is what it is. We're still in wait and see mode.
  17. Why is the Intellivision 2 less popular than the original model? What shortcomings does it have?

@DZ: Thanks for proving my point. :P

The fire buttons aren't actually buttons. Think of them like the D-pads on those goofy Turbo Touch 360 controllers for SNES/Gen.

The keypad on the I/III Intellivisions is plasticky too, and its buttons don't have any "clickity" feedback, either. They're actually harder to press than the II's, which are really just (quite sensitive) touch pads.

      Ugly? Pff.

I like the inty 2. Nice and compact and so 80's!

  18. A few weeks ago I had received an email saying I was finally chosen to purchase a copy of this game. All I needed to do was answer a few questions. I hit replay and I've never heard anything since. I've been checking my mail and my spam folder daily.
  19. I'm on the fence about this one. I'd like to back the project but I also don't want a first batch console, bugs included.
  20. Same here. I would even back a Kickstarter campaign to get a small batch of these carts made for the AA community.
  21. I received a $10 credit. Thinking about using it towards another 2600 style joystick. As for the survey itself, at least it's nice to see Nutari breaking the radio silence. It also gives us something to talk about aside from tacos.
  22. The Universe will die a slow heat death.
  23. Has the category of "Best Technical Achievement" for a specific platform been mentioned yet? I think that's an important one. There are some HB games on the 2600 that just don't seem physically possible, but they exist and it's amazing. I like this category idea because it will encourage talented devs to swing for the fences, to milk every bit of power out of our classic consoles, and be rewarded for their technical brilliance in the process.
  24. I feel this pain. I went three years in a row and it got better every time.
  25. Opcode's Omni has a very talented designer and a good company behind it. Unfortunately, all we have right now all we have is a prototype image, so hopefully we will get to see more in the very near future. The CollectorVision console seems pretty far into development, plus you've got another great team working on the project. They seem to have a viable prototype. I'd bet it comes to market long before Opcode. With all that said, I still have the most confidence in the Intellivision project, and that's only bolstered by their participation with PRGE. It's the best retro gaming expo in the country. The people behind it, particularly Rick Weiss, are really decent folks with a lot of integrity. Their name is also on the line here, and I'm sure it will be shared in all the announcement press. As soon as I knew they were going to partner with PRGE for the reveal I knew they had something good. Rick has probably even seen that product in advance. tl:dr Tommy Tallarico has shit together and Rick Weis is a smart fellow. That animated gif is hypnotizing. TA-DA! It's like a magic wand. I also think a good "booooiiiiinnnnnngggg" joke would have worked here. Fun fact: Aside from tacos, drinking through straws is a leading cause of gas. At least one third of those straws have been used to snort cocaine.
