  1. Thanks for the suggestions. It is obviously a common problem between both sides of the system (2600 & 7800) as I have done tests with both carts and have the same results. I did not know how the reset worked, but as you describe the soft reset nature of it, it makes sense not to be tied to U10 - I'm still learning the 7800 layout. It makes good logical sense to test the power pins at each IC as a next step and I will do that. Probably won't be tonight as I have a long, busy workday ahead of me, but sometime this weekend. Thanks again for the direction! -Allen Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  2. I'm going down the rabbit hole of trying to get my 7800 resurrected. I bought it non-working some years ago and took an initial look at it w/ no luck. I now have it on my new bench after my move and am diving in. I have a good working power supply (9V 1.5A that I use in my home lab for testing), I have a couple of cleaned 7800 carts and my library of known working/clean 2600 carts. I have cleaned the cartridge slot. When I turn on the 7800 I get the power led on, but no video/audio signal from the RF. I have this hooked up to an old VCR (for demodulation) and then piped into my Sony PVM in my lab that I use for testing (this setup is known working for everything else including feeds from 2600s). I have tried both channel 2 and 3 as selected on the 7800. I do not know much about video signals as of yet, but am measuring ~50-52 ohms on the RF modulator output connection. So, that does not seem to be shorted. There is not even a flicker of signal or audio - nothing. 7805 voltage regulator output is 4.92V. Pin 1 of U10 (4013 IC) is 4.54V, pin 10 is 4.54V when power button is off and 0V when power button is on, and pin 13 is 0V when button off and 4.54V when button is on. So, it does not seem that this is getting stuck in a 'reset' state. The reset button itself does test out working well. However, I do not notice any impact on pins 10 or 13 of U10 when pressing reset. I also don't seem to get any sound result on rf or hooked up to composite when connecting direct to where a composite mod would tie into the audio (non-POKEY). I also read 4.92V at that connection point when the power button is on. I am still learning the architecture of the 7800 and still going through schematics. I have no usage familiarity at all with the 7800. These are the same symptoms and test results with either a 7800 cart or 2600 cart. Any assistance in getting this up and working would be most appreciated. I do not know where to go next, yet. Maybe there is a simple solution I have not found digging through the forums. Thanks, -Allen
  3. 500XJ was actually picked up a couple weeks ago. I initially thought it was the standard one (for Atari), but it's actually for the NES. I didn't realize they made a version for the NES, so I had to get it. -Allen
  4. You have to play Princess Rescue w/ a modded NES controller and Zippy w/ a 3-button Genesis controller. At least, that's how I do it -Allen
  5. Considering it's "Promotional Use Only - Not For Resale", I'll gladly take it off your hands for no charge. Just trying to save you from any legal entanglements -Allen
  6. There was a Blu-ray special edition release that had the original, unedited movies as bonus discs. This is the one to get. Looks beautiful! Now, I just have to get my copy back from a friend. On another note, I still have to get the first No More Heroes (I have the second one) -Allen
  7. It's a shame, but I'm sure it has to do with legalities and policies. I'm sure money changed hands from that poor soul that brought them in to Best Buy to recycle. -Allen
  8. Do you get the plastic bins themselves with the lot? And are they gold-lined?? -Allen
  9. That's nice in theory. But in actual reality, with regards to ebay specifically, it has been found to not work. eBay does not care, as long as they're raking in more profits. You would think they'd want to abide by their own ToS and not have so many blatant counterfeit goods being sold on their platform for example. You could flag everything that a seller stated is a "photocopied manual" or "reproduction cart", where obviously the seller is not the copyright holder. eBay does not do jack. If they do not care about the above stated example, they certainly would not care about the more insignificant example of "Launch Edition" in the title for virtually everything. -Allen
  10. I'm still trying to see if anyone has more info on it within the Commodore community (Denial forums and C64 Facebook group). I have not seen another. I initially thought it was just mounted above standard retail shelving, but I am now also wondering if it was part of a bigger kiosk. I just don't know. I haven't figured out how it mounts yet either. My guess is it mounted via the big lag bolts in each side. I would love to have one of the Atari VCS kiosks. You don't see them come up any more. -Allen
  11. Not to derail my own topic, but YES! Thia is so classic and also an annoyance. Too much damn boilerplate (wikipedia, and otherwise). So much about terms and conditions, payment expectations, Wikipedia quote about the item, etc. And MAYBE a single sentence about the specific item they are selling. Do you even know what your are selling? Put a little effort in if you want to have my interest to buy it. -Allen
  12. From the files of "what grinds my gears"..... I've been seeing a trend as of late, typically when advertising old game consoles for sale. Whether it be an NES, or a 4-switch Woody listed as "Launch Edition" in the for sale title. This term is a recent term within the gaming community stemming from the generations and limited editions of Xbox and Playstation consoles. I do not believe it really has any merit in retro. Just the resellers using the current buzzwords to market their wares. I may be OK with the term being used in the retro realm under specific guidelines (what are those when we are talking about speculators and resellers, right?). But when, as I saw today by me, a 4-switch Woody is listed as "Launch Edition" I have to laugh. That version is at least 2 or 3 years into the console's lifespan. If anything were to be considered "Launch Edition", it would have to be the Sunnyvale Heavy-sixer - the version that came out when that platform actually "launched". Discuss....... -Allen Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  13. The eagle has landed! I won this at auction a couple weeks ago and a good buddy down in Milwaukee graciously offered to go down to Chicago area and pick it up for me. I just got it into my possession now. It's bigger than I thought it was going to be. And it's a beautiful addition to my Commodore collection! -Allen
  14. Well, if something can be orchestrated so this gets a proper release, I would definitely be in for one. -Allen
  15. Found empty random boxes at moving sale 3 blocks from me. Saw the Wii box under a table. Then, grabbed the N64 box from under another table. Gal looked at me funny for asking "how much for the empty boxes?". Got them both for $3! -Allen
  16. That's a nice unit. I'm sad mine is still missing since my move last year (along with all my heavy sixer controllers). Hopefully it will show up one day. -Allen
  17. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/gms/d/garage-yard-sale/6669290106.html Not my add. Just thought it was interesting to see a Vectrex listed at a garage sale. If I saw this earlier and didn't have other things going on (and was maybe closer). Has anyone here grabbed this? What is the condition and how much $ ? -Allen
  18. That's pretty cool and interesting. -Allen
  19. Biggest Commodore pickup I've had about 1 week ago. One of the 1541s does not work. I'm going to, hopefully, fix the bad drive and keep one for the collection. I've sold the C64 and the CP/M cart already (broke even already). Keeping everything else! Now, on a related note, does anyone have a good solution for storing 5.25" floppies? I'm running out of storage space/containers for them. -Allen
  20. Yep, nice looking shelf there. I've been thinking about doing something similar, but dread the time something like this would take to make. Do you recall about how much time/effort was spent on making this? -Allen
  21. I've said it before, I don't hold TG in much high regard at all. I think it's just been a corrupt boys club for years. You're either one of them or your not. I truly believe that they are reluctantly acknowledging and removing these records for to being called out and high-peofile attention they have been recurving. Especially, all the attention that has finally been focused onto Billy Mitchell after the Todd Rodgers incident. I don't have a high opinion of Billy either. I've never met him personally. But, every time I see him in anything, he comes off as a totally self-absorbed ass. Yes, it's good to finally have all these unqualified scores brought to Justice. But, what is it going to really change and affect in all honesty? If there is going to be an overseeing, record-keeping organisation for game scores I think a new outfit needs to emerge. TG is just trying to save face at this point as they are all being called out. -Allen
  22. Yeah, I'll have to read Atarimania some more on this. My Googling for Atari "PC Speed" landed me here: http://wiki.newtosworld.de/index.php?title=PC-Speed which confirms visually what it is. Thank you, -Allen
  23. Pretty interesting. How commonly was this done back in the day? How do you switch it into PC/DOS mode (what disk?) -Allen
  24. My buddy received this Mega ST in where he works. It has this board in place of the CPU. I do not know much about Atari computers, but it appears to be maybe some sort of 8086 DOS conversion? Can someone identify? Thank you -Allen
