Just wondering how everyone is (planning on) displaying their cart(s) from the dig? Let's see those ideas!
-
Can't wait to purchase this! Looks like an awesome project. What timeframe are you thinking for the release of this first volume? And the subsequent volumes?

I did have one more curiosity on this particular unit: does anyone know what would be up with the silver paddle knobs instead of black? This is the only unit I've seen with these. Did some of these come this way, or are these more probably replacements?

I talked to the guy on the phone and it did not get as far as me seeing it, considering the great disparity between what he thinks it is (rarity) / what it's worth and possible reality. It supposedly is completely functional, which is the main thing, and as far as what the pictures show it seems to look in good condition. I would believe it is probably a great example, but it's not as rare as what he is under the belief of, and because of that I don't think it is as valuable as he thinks. But I digress.
-
So, to talk about the Video Game Selection Center specifically, does anyone have an estimate of how many are known in existence? I know they're rare, but I'm pretty sure there is more than 3 known.
-
Yeah, I was in the cities and talked to the guy yesterday (hopeing to maybe grab it for about $200). The guy said he had an offer for $1800 and that he was talking with someone from Texas that was giving him the 'lowdown' on these things and apparently is on the belief that only 3 of these exists in the world. I proceeded to tell him to take the $1800 on it because that was pretty good (high). He said he is still doing research. It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. But I think it is probably worth more in the $500 - $600 range max.

Anyone have the dimensions of the Sears Video Game Selection Center kiosk?

*sold out! Atari 2600 E.T. CNC machined aluminum signs

I'm in for one of these as well. PM sent. -
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 221666826088 I believe this is the most I've seen asked for a humble 2600. Just a plain Vader model described simply as "Excellent condition". He also has an RCA tube tv for the low-low sum of $200 as well! I would chalk this up to some newbie not knowing what they're doing, but he has been a member on ebay since 2003.

What computer did you learn to program BASIC language on?
rasch_C replied to deadmeow's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My first BASIC experience came in the form of an IBM PS/1 consultant I got in 1993 (about 7th or 8th grade). I tight myself qBASIC from the DOS help files. I programmed flashcards for school and some simple games like slots which I later started to develop into a casino. That was my first PC. My first computer, and only computer before that, was an Apple ][e in about 1989 that a family friend at the time gave me (or we bought from her). Unfortunately, I didn't really do much with it. I didn't know anything, and didn't have anyone for guidance (no one in my family knew anything about computers and I didn't really have much of a friend network) -

Atari's Landfill Adventures, I now have the proof it's true.
rasch_C replied to Spud's topic in Atari 2600
Regardless of what this actually is our isn't, this person knows what they are doing and that's too utilize current popular events to prey on the otherwise uninformed. They rate, in my book, no better than the email scams from Nigeria preying on unsuspecting grandmas and grandpas! -

I don't trust it. Sounds like they had that place heavily monitored. I don't think any carts got out of there "unofficially". It would be very easy, especially if you're from New Mexico, to say that some cart you had laying around for 20 years was from the dump. I call swindling b.s. -
This is normal. My heavy six was manufactured the same way: hole for the switch, but switch not present. I believe mine outputs on channel 3 if memory serves. Also, do take the time to add yours to the heavy 6 list! (http://atariage.com/forums/topic/186498-the-official-atari-2600-heavy-6-switch-list/?fromsearch=1)
-
You could also try turning the VCS on first, then change the TV channel to channel 4 (or some other non-VCS channel), then back down to channel 3 (or whatever output your VCS is). This is what I had to do with my Video Arcade II when I had it hooked up to my plasma.

That was the Warner era. -
Hopefully, I can be added to the pre-order list for a limited cib of this as well. Looks great!

I'm gonna keep mum on this.....at least until my severance is in the bank (should be late next week). For now, I'll simply say yep -
Just figured a post a follow-up status to this. I ultimately decided to update to fedora 20 (will hopefully go to 21 when they release the final on the 9th of December) and just jump into using Android Studio instead of Eclipse for programming my android stuff -seeing as how I'm just starting android programming, and this will be the official way to do it in the future.
-
Does anyone have experience ruining Eclipse on Fedora?I decided that I was going to get back into programming since my store closed and I want to freshen up my skills to re-enter the workforce. I tried prepping my Eclipse to start doing some Android development, and now I can't start a new project -all my perspectives have disappeared! I am on Fedora 18 and running Eclipse 4.2.2 and did have a bunch of perspectives on there; anything from java, c/c++, php, etc. I installed the Android SDK and ADT, and sometime when I updated I lost every perspective. The only thing I list when I try to start a new project is "general" and "cvs". I am pretty confident that the Android stuff is installed correctly, and all the other plugins that I had as well. But,I have not been able to figure out how to get the perspectives to reappear. I feel I've been bashing my head for hours -no fun. TIA, Allen

~100 unique here, including half-dozen homebrews. I have about 50 dupes ontop of that. Can't recall an accurate count - they're all packed away at the moment pending a move.
-
First thought would be: yes. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Next thought would be: why put yourself through the headache of those particular ones? The IR style wireless controllers suck. You have to hold them just right to work.

I get in the zone with a techno soundtrack - Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Praga Kahn, Prodigy, Orbital, Aphex Twin, etc. And then switch it up sometimes to some Celtic, or whatever else I stumble upon the internet while testing code at 3am - think The Brodingnagian Bards lol
