Chuck D. Head's Gameroom Finally
rasch_C replied to Chuck D. Head's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
I think those great barrel stands are just screaming for Donkey Kong themed room -
Oh yeah, my cartridges that weren't working before are now working! Extra bonus, and something to think about for anyone with carts not working . . . Thanks again all

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! It was the power supply. It works beautiful now. The girls say it even sounds better now, too! Now, all I have to do is adjust the color pot. Thanks again everyone for the help. It's been a good refresher in electronics, that's for sure.

Fully functional now -it was a bad power supply. Thanks iesposta!

Interesting... My issue is similar, but to a greater extreme. the band does roll vertically just like that, but it's the entire width and seems like a desaturation of color (green). I will try a different power supply tonight, hopefully (kids Dr. appt., soccor, etc.) It should be a 9v 500ma? I don't understand why having a higher rated (1000ma >) would affect it. It just would have more power "available", but the Atari is only gonna use what it uses, right? Thanks again
-
Yes, same power supply (so, another common denominator -hmmm). Power supply is after-market, vintage 80's (Spectra) unit rated at 9 volts and 1 amp. I have tested the voltage and it was at a little over 12 volts, if I recall. I know this is obviously not a fully valid test as it's not testing the output (milliamps). I have also tested the output at the regulator on the light six while it was (still is) on the bench, and I was reading 4.64 volts which seems fine on that one. Still, it gives me another thing to try. When you say vertical scrolling, do you mean the whole picture or just the colors? I have not been able to find that thread. I will definately try another power brick tomorrow, though!

OK, so this is old I know. But, I am still having issues. I have changed the +5v power reg. along with associated cap. I saw no change. Upon further observation, I have a more detailed description. It appears to be a band of green-desaturation that rolls vertically. The really odd thing is, I just acquired a light sixer and, after doing some cleaning and getting it to read a cart, this console is exhibiting the same issue?!?! This is on my Panasonic G20 Plasma. So, I thought maybe it was the "new" TV not liking the old Atari signals. I tested the heavy six on one of the kids' CRT tvs, and it displays the same issue. I have emailed Best, but do not know if my mail is getting through to them as I have not had a response from them yet. I am all ears I do have to replace the RF cable on the light sixer -it is nicked to the shielding and do notice a differnce in picture when moving the cable around. I couldn't possibly be bad RF cables causing the color-rolling, could it?? Thanks again!

Yeah, I realized that after I posted (lol). Didn't know that existed 'til after I posted. It was more of just a curiosity, or thought. I'm all set with consoles I have. I just seemed to notice this last year, when I got back into Atari, as being a quite regular type of auction. Just "smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave."
-
I have to wonder every time I see an auction listing for an 2600 console with an asking price of >$400. Yeah, it may be a heavy sixer, and may be complete with box, but is the box worth $700? My head spins everytime I see one of these auction. Most recently, I see a couple current listings with prices at $800 and $1000 (sorry, $999). What is sooo special about these? Am I missing something? Do they actually sell any at these prices? If not, why do they continue to try to get these astronomical prices?

How many "loose" Atari 2600 duplicate do you have?
rasch_C replied to Unbeliever's topic in Atari 2600
I have 6 loose carts in my small (22 so far) collection. No dupes. And, this will actually be reduced to 5 loose carts after Al gets back from Portland and provides a nice shiny new home for my Halo 2600 cart! -
what about preserving my omega race box? with the clear plastic window? how about reattaching said window? i think it is starting to come loose, if i recall
-
please, add me to the list of people that would like a box and manual for my cartridge
-
Cool, thanks for the tip. I'll take a look and try that next chance I get.

I got a great find on a heavy-6 earlier this year with 10 games all in boxes with manuals -including Omega Race- and original heavy-6 controllers and additional controllers and paddles for $30!! The system works, but the video is not right. The colors are off due to a vertical-scrolling color-band that slowly goes from bottom to top, then repeats. The picture/graphics themselves are not scrolling. Just the color. Sound is also fine. I have cleaned the ports, RF cable, etc. Is this a bad TIA? What would cause this? TIA

Found someone with an allotment of 5200 stuff locally. This is one of the items. Just wondering what it's worth. Thanks

How much would a never used new-in-box (console itself even in plastic) 5200 console (2-port) be worth? And what is the market currently for such a system? Thanks
