The vintage game shops around here don't repair systems.

The voltage regulator is fine. It puts out 4.8 volts. I can barely see the outline of pacman on the screen. Here is what the screen looks like. IMG_29121.MOV

Replacing Voltage Regulator & Chicklet Cap - Any Tricks?
bradhig replied to DrVenkman's topic in Atari 2600
I just tested the voltage regulator and it's fine. Don't have a clue what else could be wrong. -
It changed cause no one responded. After the voltage regulator was replaced there was a wobby outline of the pacman screen and then it died. Nothing happens when I turn it on nothing appears on screen. I am not a kid I am 42 years old. I came here for help and no one wants to help me anymore. No one got into my account but me. Look I suffer from Asperger's syndrome ,anxiety ,and depression thats why I act the way I do. It's soo easy for you normal people to say some kid got on my account ,but you don't know what it's like when you brain is a mental trainwreck.

Replacing Voltage Regulator & Chicklet Cap - Any Tricks?
bradhig replied to DrVenkman's topic in Atari 2600
Maybe thats why it failed. The metal with the screw hole was on the heat sink but it wasn't rescued very well cause we couldn't find a nut to hold the screw down. I don't wanna put another voltage regulator in until I know it won't blow. I have a bag of them and don't want to use them all up. -

I just replaced a voltage regulator on my heavy sixer and it blew. It got hot and lasted maybe an hour. -
The new voltage regulator blew while it was running Why? What is wrong with this community? I need help and no one cares. I can't solder at all cause my hands shake too much from anxiety or fear of getting burnt. Mom soldered it in and now after it died no picture at all. I CANNNT FIX THIS THING I DON"T KNIOW HOW AND NO ONE WILL TELL ME HOW!!! bunch of losers just want me to suffer with a broken atari cause I broke it frying pacman and don't want me to fix it. I don't have a workshop and lot of the equipment needed to fix it. I am crying right now. We didn't even have the right size nut to screw down the regulator and don't know what size to get. Why don't one of you take this thing from me and fix it!!!

could solder between the center pin of the voltage regulator and the pin holding the heat sink be causing a problem?
-
Voltage regulator replaced. Still no picture. What else could be wrong.
-
Is this game endless? I can't stop playing it at at times.
-
Got the part in the mail. The solder won't come off with solider wick and a solidering iron. What gives? I posted a photo of the type of soldiering iron I am using.

This makes me wonder if Super Pacman is possible on the 2600.

Years ago Our Burgertime cartridge died and a friends astroblast died. Those M network carts are a pain to open.

Doesn't the new voltage regulator need the heat sink or will it overheat?
-
The heat sink is attached to the board. I need to get a new voltage regulator first.
-
I don't have a drill or any other way to get that thing off.
-
I reached the anchor level and got killed by the purple crab. Is that the last bacher level? What happens after the bacher levels? Manual says there are only nine levels.
-
I heard on a video featuring atari programmers at the 2015 Portland Retrogaming Expo n Portland, Oregon that featured Tod Frye saying that he couldn't use a black background because it would cause screen burn.
-
I don't see any screw on the bottom.
-
That doesn't look like a screw.
-
Looks like it would be hard to get that thing off the heat sink cause it's held down.
-
Where do I find another voltage regulator with a heat sink?
-
What is the metal thing the voltage regulator sits on? A heatsink?
-
I noticed on the Atariage store there is no longer the option to upgrade 2600 games to Melody boards. Are they no longer being made?
