Here is some history, In Japan after WW2 we occupied it for years before we game the power back to them. So in that time period Japan got Power grids. Since we were influencing Japan they copied our standards. Thats why Japanese Consoles can work on our power gird. They have the same 120V at 60Hz as we do.
