Oh, the locking down is OK. I'm just objecting to the posting (by others, not necessarily you), actively trolling and taunting the supposed "sockpuppets," when the rest of the thread seems interesting and on topic, and has contributions.

The accusations and taunts are stupid and just serve to pollute the place, even if the original poster was a sock puppet somewhere else.

Many of the users you're referring to already tried to "play nice" with the sockpuppets by treating the topics like ordinary discussions. They were inevitably and repeatedly lured into nitpicking arguments, so I don't blame them for getting annoyed.

I understand, but now that they know how it works, just report them and move on. This "vigilante justice" pre-emptive strikes are overblown and litter the forum to the point that, to a casual reader like myself that barely ventures outside some main topics, it just look like they are the problem.
