Very true. I personally will work on original games, though. There are many games I would love to remake, but I also have many original ideas I would like to realize, and life is too short to do it all. -dZ.

Intellivision Autograph Book

How many people has it gotten to already? -
Revolutionika and Bea Arthur's funbags!

Yeah, ask Willy to bid for it at Christies to get a gate-fold production. LOL! -
I second that! Let's put up a Kickstarter campaign to fund research into cloning GroovyBee!

Well, you can--if you paid for it. As far as I know, nobody has ordered Hovver Bovver yet. But any way... it wasn't meant to sound like a threat or anything like that. I know that Mark is doing his best to finish all games, but it seems that he has a lot of things going on at the same time (and that's not counting a day job and personal life!). I think there should be some dedicated effort in getting out games that have already been paid by customers, I just think it's the right thing to do. It's not desperation or mistrust. I know all games will come out eventually. It's a matter of respect for the people who supported your efforts with money, at least how I see it. -dZ.
-
That's all fine, but keep in mind that, notwithstanding the agreement you made with Mark, people already pre-paid for two of his games. I'm looking forward to Hovver Bovver, but I think the other indie ones should come first. dZ.

I'm not looking to re-make old games that exist in other platforms. I think the Intellivision community would be served better with absolutely original titles. I know what Elektronite is trying to, and that's fine, but I rather see cheap cart-only productions of completely new and innovative game titles. -dZ.

Gotcha! Sorry, I missed that.

By the way, make sure to include access to the expansion bus, just like the original. That removable tab on top was intended to allow for expansion modules. I know that none were ever made, but I've seen old threads where using it for new hardware has been discussed. You don't want to cripple your design by missing out on compatibility. -dZ.

And so... Best germ of a game concept realized as a Star Wars look-alike with a glorious 3-D animation effect that was rather effective for its time, even though the game is sort of short and cheesy: Star Strike
-
I think so. I think there should be a bit more sophistication in the game play, but it was good for the time.
-
Aha! And so the true purpose of your evil machinations is revealed! I love Star Wars, but I personally prefer the Death Star trench battle (Battle of Yavin IV?). This is the reason why I liked Star Strike so much, even though everybody thinks its crap. dZ.

I personally find it a bad clone of Defender, with wonky and unresponsive controls, and cheesy gameplay--and that's before it was compared to my game!

Are you comparing Carol to The Empire Strikes Back game for the Intellivision?

Worst port of a highly anticipated arcade title on the Intellivision that caused deep-seated childhood trauma to those who received it for Christmas: Coleco's Donkey Kong Best port of a highly anticipated arcade title on the Intellivision that once engendered the worse port of the same highly anticipated arcade title on the Intellivision, and therefore fixed deep-seated childhood traumas: DK Arcade dZ.

Best Christmas-Themed game... Anyone?

what is a good high score On Christmas Carol?

Honestly, it hasn't happened, but it will... Someday. Now, don't hold your breath. -

If you zig-zag, sometimes the Snowman turns the wrong way and gives you a respite. Also, keep in mind that each level is designed to require its own specific strategy to complete. 986 points in about 10 games is really good! By then you must have gotten 2 extra lives. A good way to rack up points is to get all items in a level (snowflakes and candy). This will give you a "Perfect Level" bonus that increases on every stage. It starts at 10 points in Stage #1. However, it is harder to do that than to just aim at picking all presents. By the way, level 13 is stage #7, so you're almost there! One more stage and you save Christmas! dZ. -
Older Intelligentvision titles becoming available soon

Do you have the Intellivision Lives! CD? You can play it on emulation as well. -dZ.

By the way, one technique that Liduario recommended during the championship is to play until game over, then go to the practice menu and practice the last level you reached until you get a good technique to pass it. Then play again and go further. Good luck! -dZ. -

If you saw Liduario's video, don't freak out. He is one of the best players and broke a couple of records playing the game during the Christmas Championship. 654 points is a very good score, especially if you just started playing recently! Also considering that you get 1, 2, or 5 points at a time. If you want to compare your ranking, check out the official leaderboard of the Carol vs. The World! Championship. Consider that all those scores are very good. A great score is one when you pass Stage #8 (Level 16) and save Christmas. You also get a little movie treat. -dZ. -
Hmm... I thought we were having fun. -dZ.
