Nice edit on your first post! Great info and lots of pics, just what people love to see. Clean looking 800 as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Photosynth is kind of buggery to use, but very cool room. I love the small office/gaming rooms, seems so cozy. It's laid out quite neatly for such a small space though, kudos!

FS: Massive Lot of Various Things (Atari, INTV, PS2, etc.)
TPA5 replied to ViviLasVegas's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
This is a bad situation, but it's a good reminder to never send payments as gifts unless you explicitly trust whoever you are sending it to. I hope everything works out for the folks who have sent money and they are able to get it back! -
Far be it from me to self-promote, but I always recommend giving this a read before selling items here on this fine community: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222489-tips-for-selling-on-atariage-and-beyond/

You the man! Seriously that would be awesome. I've been using my 400 more recently and a video upgrade was something I have been considering, but many of the other solutions out there require some pretty heavy modifications and that just makes me nervous on a 36 year old machine.
-
Pardon my ignorance but 19 pages is a little hard to sift through when so many devices are being talked about. Did anyone try this on a 400 and have success getting audio-out? I am debating grabbing one of these when they become available again, but I'm nervous enough to be poking around inside my 400 much less trying to modify it to get audio-out.

Atari 400 Aftermarket Replacement Keyboard Thread
TPA5 replied to wood_jl's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I have the "B" key version installed on my Atari 400. It doesn't feel too shabby, though the keystrokes aren't as nice as they could be it's quite an improvement over the membrane keyboard. -
I am typing this post on my Atari 400 via Bank Street Writer, which I transferred via my DIY SIO2PC cable. It's pretty hack right now, held on by electrical tape with wires that have just been twisted around the ports on the FTDI chip. I am waiting for header pins to come in the mail so I can solder them to the FTDI and do it proper, however I was too impatient to wait on testing it out! In all I am really happy with it, being able to send programs to my 400 and save output from it is absolutely fantastic, as I no longer have to fear degrading physical media. So yeah, typed that up on my Atari 400 and sent it to my PC via the printer emulation in the RespeQt software. Really happy with how my little test turned out, worked flawlessly. I just need to solder up some actual header pins when they come in and put it in a tidy enclosure to make it complete. I've already started to use it to do some writing, it's a great way to write distraction-free! Just wanted to share my little success with you all.

Wii U will reportedly cease production this year
TPA5 replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Plot thickens: http://www.cnet.com/news/nintendo-no-were-not-killing-off-the-wii-u/ Apparently the console shall live on with no plans to kill it off. Bullshit misinformation spread by bullshit, lazy-ass 'journalists'. And I fell for it! I hate feeling duped. Duped I tell you! -
Eh, I'll wait for official photos before making any kind of determinations. The propensity for people to spend inordinate amounts of their free-time to bullshit other people never ceases to take my breath away.

Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?
TPA5 replied to phoenixdownita's topic in Modern Console Discussion
So now with the project officially deceased the only question is how many more pages of pointless, circular arguments will this topic sustain? -
I've said it before, but I'll say it again; the GameCube is my all-time favourite console, period. I loved the form factor, the controllers, the games, the memory cards, the startup sound, everything about it. The Wii was great and all, and I had fun with it, but I always ended up going back to the 'Cube. The flawless Metroid Prime 1+2, Wind Waker, Paper Mario 1000 Year Door, Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, Vexx, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Chibi Robo, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Mario Kart Double Dash, Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Golf, and so on. I am completely biased when it comes to this kind of showdown, but the GC wins for me hands-down every time.

I would personally be fascinated by some pictures of the worlds smallest games console you have made. Any chance of seeing those?

Years ago I connected a Wiimote to my PC via Bluetooth and GlovePie. As far as I remember, it was just a cheap Chinese adapter from eBay and it worked fine. That being said, unless you specifically need it to be wireless this might be a better solution: http://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Wii-Classic-Controller-Adapter/dp/B0089O4EB0 It just turns 2 Wii Classic Controllers into USB-gamepads, nice and simple.
-
They do indeed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812196223(just searched and found that, I haven't used it) That one supposedly works with keyboards and mice, though I have never tried it myself. But Windows 98SE has built-in support for USB keyboards and mice so it should be okay. The only place one might find trouble is navigating the BIOS, I do know some older motherboards did not support USB keyboards in BIOS.

Anyone Want to donate to help get my game on steam greenlight
TPA5 replied to superskyphoenix03's topic in Microsoft Xbox One
To be fair, you wander into this forum and beg for money for a game without giving any information on what the game is, what it does, or why we should care. Beyond that you have no screenshots, no concept art, not even the faintest whiff of anything about the game at all. Your other topic is telling us to buy an Xbox that's listed for way more than it's actually worth. So really why should we support you? What have you contributed to this community that would make us apt to help you out? I get that you may not have tons of money laying around, so do what other people do: save up until you have that money. I'm not rolling in cash, but you don't see me going around begging for money on forums. Hell, one of your other topics even directs people to another (now removed) GoFundMe page. It's insulting if anything that you think we're stupid enough to piss away our hard-earned money and receive absolutely nothing in return for it. If you had a demo, a video, even a freaking screenshot it might be different but you literally have zilch to show us. Like I said, that's just insulting to me. *ahem* on another note, I'm starting a GoFundMe soon for my new game "Super Awesome Mega Mario Zelda Halo Sony Adventure". I have the whole game written down on a dirty napkin, I'll need a meagre $100,000 for development costs then another $250,000 for marketing, but I promise it's gonna be a hit! Make sure to donate, like, comment, and subscribe! -
Windows 98 should work with modern Internet no problem, though you may need a network adapter if the machine doesn't have it on-board. Heck, even if it does have it on board you will possibly need to go hunting for the drivers if you are doing a reinstall of Windows 98. Even if it doesn't have it on the motherboard Ethernet should be simple with the appropriate adapters. I found a couple internal ones new in box with drivers at my local thrift for cheap. Wifi is not as simple, one option would be to try and find an old wifi card that has Windows 98 drivers. I have seen them once or twice before. Whether or not it will actually connect to your router I am not sure, as wifi has changed quite abit since then. Another option could be an Ethernet bridge, a box that takes your Ethernet connection and turns it into a wifi one. Not the cheapest option by any means however. A good question is why do you want to get online? Web browsing on 98 is sucky, most websites don't work or display incorrectly as standards have changed and everyone wants trendy websites with a bunch of swooshy garbage everywhere. I put my Win98 box online partially because I was curious, and also because I wanted to access my file server. Also you may not need PS2 keyboards/move depending on the machine. If it has USB ports Windows 98SE can use USB keyboards and mice natively. At least, I haven't had issue with it. So you should be good-to-go there. I was just unsure if a wireless keyboard/mouse combo would work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wii U will reportedly cease production this year
TPA5 replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Makes sense to me, it can't be cheap to keep dumping money into production of a struggling console. I'm sure Nintendo has learned from this mis-step and the NX will hopefully revive the brand as a console manufacturer. I'm definitely looking forward to the NX in any case, I'm hoping it actually makes current-gen gaming something I'm interested in. -
Just make sure whatever hardware that's in the PC you want to buy is supported by Windows 98, it would be a bummer to buy a machine only to find there's no drivers for the graphics card or sound chip. If it's been awhile since you last used Win98, it's easy to forget that a lot of the things we take for granted (like plugging in a wireless mouse and just having it work) might not always go so easily on an older machine. Not that I am discouraging you from getting a machine like that, I am personally a huge proponent of using "real iron" instead of virtual machines or emulation. Just letting you know some things will definitely work differently than modern versions. Once you have your PC up and running, you should check out FileHippo.com. They host older versions of software which can be hugely useful when finding things to run on OS's like Windows 98. For instance I needed to find a version of WinAmp that would run on 98, thankfully they had one. I also found a version of Opera and Avast antivirus that would work so I could access my personal file server.

I've always enjoyed the high-frequency noises the Pokey was able to generate, it's nice to hear some of them in these songs! I'm digging the album.

Glad it's going to a good home, was getting worried no one had love for these anymore!

Has anyone ever bought games from Frank Polosky?
TPA5 replied to birdie3's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
A new topic would probably work better instead of bumping a topic that last had a post 8(!) years ago. I understand that it's somewhat related as it was posted in Video magic but you'll do better with a new topic and better thread title. -
Not to thread-jack, but I thought instead of starting a new topic I would ask here. Is there a way to setup the C64 to connect to a PC like the Atari 8-bits can with RespeQt?
