  1. Like briwayjones I like my buttons somewhere in-between the two. Not hard-plastic clicky, but not mush either. The Gamecube and Xbox 360 controllers are good examples of pretty much perfect buttons to me.
  2. Never heard carts referred to as tapes, but my mom used to refer to any kind of gaming system as a Gameboy. Never really bothered me though. Besides, now I'm getting to the age where I have no idea what's hip and I didn't know what the hell 'dabbing' was until it was already considered "passe". So I have more of an appreciation for mis-characterizations these days.
  3. That book is pretty neat, maybe I'll pick it up some time. I agree with Tanooki though, $45 is a little bit much.
  4. My memories of the 64 revolve mostly around my friend who had the console along with, of course, Goldeneye. We spent a whole lot of hours playing that. I do think the bad rep the 64 gets for graphics is, as mentioned earlier in this thread, more down to the video connection than the hardware. If you play some of these games emulated, for example, they don't have the fuzzy, squinty quality of the console. Of course hardware mods are now solving this problem. Plus, F-Zero X is still one of the best racing games of all time for me personally.
  5. My figuring is if you have the time to bellyache about random strangers on a random website doing some random things... you should just turn off YouTube and play some retro games. After all, I don't think anyone is forcing you to watch 'em. (And if they are, blink three times so we can send help.)
  6. Didn't the NES Classic get an Amazon pre-order, but only for Prime members?
  7. Try living in rural Canada. Internet out here ain't the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Damn, I had something exactly like this. The form factor was a little different, and it didn't have the keyboard. But other than that, very similar to that "Pro 200". Plus, it had a backlight (oooooh). I actually ended up playing it a lot, but that was before I got into handheld gaming with a GBA SP in the early 2000's.

  10. Technically, dead pixels are a "given issue" on consumer screens. Unless it's clusters or lots of dead pixels, most manufacturers won't do much for a device with a dead pixel. Really, what is the point of these drop tests? I understand a drop-test from normal height, but 1000ft? All it proves is that you make too much money on YouTube and can afford to be a dickhead with your possessions.
  11. Looking for a PSP, preferably a Go since I like the form factor of it. Don't care about games, just going to softmod it to play emulators. I am located in Canada, just as an FYI. Shipping could be pricey if you're located in the US. Found one locally.
  12. If you got the money, why not spend it? I've never understood wealthy people who horde money. Can't take it with you when you go, so live it up. If video games are your thing, do it. I personally dig this room, easily the nicest one I've ever seen. It's clean, easy to browse, and super inviting. I could spend a few thousand hours in there.
  13. I saw the Flashback 6 here a long time ago, but the store it was in is gone now (independant game store, another one bites the dust). I've also seen the Flashback 7 on Amazon Canada, so if the Gold edition makes its way there I could grab it. I've never looked too carefully for the Flashbacks since they didn't have HDMI. But I wouldn't be surprised if they're hard to get, it's amazing the things we have trouble getting our hands on up here. If it makes sense to have you ship one to me I'd definitely be willing to work something out that's worth your time! Perhaps the gods will smile on us poor Canadians this year and let the Flashback be available here in-store (the dream) or Amazon (the last-ditch).
  14. Was the movie any good? The first one was quite clever and funny, the second one stumbled a little bit for me. Not sure about this 3rd one.
  15. I have no idea how I missed this topic, I should come into this area of the forums more often. Now that I know, I'm definitely going to see about picking up a Gold Edition 2600. The wireless controllers look great, and since everything in my home is a flat-screen the HDMI is appreciated. I'm assuming it will retail in Canada for $100?
  16. Not to mention netbooks can be had for a song these days. Although beyond the RAM and hard drive, you can't really replace much in a netbook can you?
  17. Unless they're time travelling scalpers.
  18. I make money on the side, but I actually work for it. I guess that isn't the capitalist way, though. That doesn't even make sense. You use the same arguments every one does when they don't want to take responsibility for something. "Other people do it", "It's their fault I did it", "It's the way society is". Just sack-up and admit you're greedy and want to make some easy money. At least then I'd have a shimmer of respect for your honesty. Just because something is legal doesn't make it a decent thing to do. Regardless of what the product/thing is, I have no respect for scalpers, and no respect for people that hide behind excuses to try and justify said greedy behaviour.
  19. Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night, mate. Just don't "blame Nintendo" because you're an opportunistic, greedy person. Someone else's shit behaviour doesn't suddenly make your shit behaviour on the level/acceptable.
  20. Guys, guys, guys. Don't blame me for being a flaming prick. Blame the company that enables me to be a flaming prick.
  21. On one hand, I'd be very surprised if Nintendo hadn't closed that loophole. On the other hand, hardware/software hackers are an unflappable bunch so I imagine it won't be long before this thing is hacked.
  22. Steam users also miss out on the joys of not being able to play their bleeding games because they aren't connected to the bleeding internet. Not that I'm bitter or anything. I really enjoy physical media. Even with an e-reader and a tablet, my favourite way to read books is with a physical copy. And there's something very satisfying about the "click" of a cartridge when you slap it in the console. Or the whirr of a disk-drive when you insert a CD game.
  23. Try being a PC gamer, developers and publishers beat you like a rented mule... then make you pay for it I've quit new-release games all-together and have gone back to playing older PC games, my DS, and my Gamecube. To keep this topic SNES-Mini-focused, I noticed there's already people scalping pre-orders on eBay. What do you suppose these scalpers do for money the rest of the year? Don't they have full-time jobs, or is this a welfare kind of situation and scalping is just an easy way to make beer and Whopper money?
  24. Dang, all 3 Siberia games for the Switch? I can get behind that, big time. Does an M rating make a mature game? I mostly enjoy games that aren't rated M, to be honest. I'm really hoping for games in the vein of Siberia. Exploration, puzzles, thinking, atmosphere. It doesn't have to be in-your-face all the time to be mature or adult. Sometimes it just takes a game that sucks you into a world that isn't intended to be understood by kids.
