  1. You might want to post on the Build Your Own Arcade forums or KLOV forums. Lots of crotchety pricks floating around those places, but good sources of knowledge nonetheless.
  2. This. I can't imagine it being too long before we're able to accurately emulate CRT's. Sure, there's differences between CRT and LCD/LED/OLED/etc right now. But as time goes on, and tech gets better, the ability to emulate the qualities of a CRT will also get better. And yes, the article is click-baitey in my opinion. After looking through the other articles on the site, it looks like the same generic, boring, vague journalism you can find on 10,000 other websites. Yawn.
  3. Report him and let him get wrecked. It's not physically possible to "accidentally" bid on something. Even though it's only $10, it's the principle of the matter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. RadioShack got killed for many of the same reasons other stores, not just electronics retailers, have gone the way of the Dodo: bad business. A few wrong decisions here, a different direction over there, and after a decade or two the damage is done. The internet is a thing. Buying from China is cheaper. Tough sob story, but it's the way the cookie crumbles. Also... What the fuck dude.
  5. I can't even imagine the apocalyptic pain in the ass it would be to sort through all that stuff.
  6. This is how you do a Kickstarter. By actually having a functional, working product. Now, whether they can deliver all those orders remains to be seen. I'd be all over this if it wasn't so pricey. Not that I doubt it's worth it, but I just can't justify that kind of cash.
  7. Floppy emulators and IDE to CF adapters work a charm on old PC's, and I would highly recommend them. Building out a 90's PC is a great time, definitely something that's entertaining to do. Even though we have GOG and DosBox, there's just something fun about 'real iron' with all its quirks and frustrations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Boy, I missed this thread somehow. And I didn't feel like reading 23 pages of stuff. I'll just say that if it does everything they say it will do, I'd buy it. If it doesn't do it, I wouldn't buy it.
  9. Wow, nice collection! I love looking at huge cart collections. I've never gotten into the Famicom, but this post makes me want to. Unreal you got them at such a good price, and hell even if you didn't, buy what makes you happy right? Certainly looking at these photos made me happy, really nice collection.
  10. Man, that footage of the McDonalds hit me with a nostalgia stick something fierce. Makes me miss those days actually, before I was an adult. And had to do adult things. C'est la vie. Great video though, it was a fun watch!
  11. I've never thought E.T was that bad actually. Was it good? No. But to me, there are far worse games than that. I think lazy gaming journalists perpetuated the idea that E.T was the "worst game ever" by cranking out shit articles when they had no other ideas for the day. Which, to be fair is most journalism.
  12. This thread is awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I like Nintendo, but only they could bungle not one but two products that could have filled-out their pocketbooks for the holiday season. By all accounts, the $99 3DS launch took a dump and died in the hallway as well.

  15. Haha yeah, I can honestly say I haven't the foggiest clue! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Eh, I play games to have fun and relax. If that means I'm not the greatest, I will survive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I'll grant you that, it is a handicap. I still don't care, though. Next time I almost avoid a death I'll.... continue to not care. It's a game. It won't drastically alter the course of my life.
  18. I know you're a pretty big evangelist for CRT TV's, but I'm not. Digital TV's (i.e. LCD/LED TV's) are crisp, clear, and oh-so-nice looking. They're also sexy and thin and fit on my wall. CRT's are none of these things really. Besides, you yourself just said that it "isn't necessarily something you're going to consciously notice". Well if I won't notice it, why even make the argument in the first place? We know you love CRT's and think modern TV's are from the devil, but the plain fact is most people who buy a NES Mini will never notice "display lag" enough to ever even slightly diminish their enjoyment of the console. Fact is I think Nintendo made the obvious, intelligent choice by putting HDMI on the NES Mini. Why on earth would any device released in 2016 use RCA? It's a dead technology designed for dead TV's.
  19. Could not have said it better myself. If someone out there has such finely honed reflexes, they should consider a lucrative career as an NHL goalie because they must be in the top percentile of humanity. Otherwise, it's not going to make a spit of difference. And that's the kind of quality post these threads so desperately need.
