I have a pretty average PC, it plays pretty well. A patch or two will help that I feel. I did install two mods already, one to remove those irritating scanlines and vignetting, and another to correct the warm colour-cast to something more natural. Other than that, I'm digging the game so far. Everything the game promised it has delivered. Shawn promised a universe to explore, and I have a universe to explore. Any features they add from here on out are gravy, because I know I'll get my 40+ hours into the game in its current form. A very chilled-out experience, zipping from planet to planet and exploring cool stuff alongside an excellent soundtrack, I dig it.

Looks pretty good, I'd be interested in having one for my GOG library. Nothing like being able to play Roller Coaster Tycoon on a hand-held size device.

There is so much to like about this. I want one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Media stands for the space conscious classic gamer
TPA5 replied to DracIsBack's topic in Classic Console Discussion
+1 for this suggestion. Wire shelving is awesome, and if you get the silver/chrome finish it looks pretty good too in my opinion. Cable management ends up being ultra easy because you can bundle cables then zip-tie them right to the metal bars running across the back, then tie them to the main legs going down. Everything ends up being very clean that way. If you worry about it looking too utilitarian, you can get covers for them to try and dress them up: https://www.amazon.com/Renew-Shelving/b/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&node=9130356011&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Renew+Shelving&linkCode=ll2&tag=atariage&linkId=b2124bc869323f3103ef8353ffe740ab or http://helpmyshelf.com/ have interesting-looking options. You can also make them yourself: http://fakeitfrugal.blogspot.ca/2013/01/diy-wire-shelf-liner.html or http://thefrugalhomemaker.com/2015/02/19/how-to-change-up-wire-shelves-for-less-than-10/ look like good tutorials. Personally, I don't mind the modern/industrial aesthetic of plain chrome wire shelves. The current issue I face is I share an office with the wife because we only live in a 2 bedroom place (no kids mercifully). I have a beautiful Compaq P110 CRT monitor I want to hook up to my PC, but the things 78lbs and the size of an ocean liner so it's sitting in the closet until I figure out where the heck to put it. -
Let's talk LucasArts BIG BOX PC Games Collecting
TPA5 replied to Metal Jesus's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Awesome, awesome video. I would love more PC videos from you. I drooled over The Dig's box, easily one of the best looking boxes for a fantastic game. I want to get into big box collecting, but they're impossible to find where I live. Plus space is at a premium in my current house, so not much room for that. Someday, when we move into a house with an extra bedroom and I have a gameroom, I want to start collecting more PC stuff. -
I remember a time when there were no bad games.
TPA5 replied to Dripfree's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah, when I was a kid I never really made the distinction between "bad" or "good" games. To me it was all just games, and it came down to whether I liked them or not. Even if I didn't like it that much I still played it, because when I was a kid games were limited. It wasn't until I hit my teen years that I started to realize some games were different than others in terms of quality. -
I'll have to second the DS library. So many games came out for it, and there were a bunch of really quirky games.

Well, glad someone reposted the images as I missed the drama in the other thread. Neat find, all that matters is that it gives you warm fuzzies when you look at it man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

At the very least they should have the decency to get rid of the thrift store sticker so it isn't so obvious they're opportunistic rats. But yes, sellers that won't answer questions don't deserve the business. If you can't be assed to take 60 seconds to hammer out an answer to a simple question, I can't be assed to give you my hard earned money.

I should clarify, I meant eBay sellers getting butthurt, not you as the buyer. By the way, Nightmare on Elm Street ain't worth $200. Not even close. $40 might have been a little low to offer, but that seller is out to lunch with that price. The magical inclusion of a box does not equal $170 more value than buying a loose copy. No way in hell.
-
To be fair, seller could've blocked him without the pretentious message. If you get so easily butthurt, the internet is not for you. Bit of a low offer? Yeah probably. But if you're selling on eBay you best be prepared for those. Also, if there's a price you won't go below just put the auto-decline on, it ain't that hard.

Do you play more video games in the Summer or the Winter?
TPA5 replied to Shawn's topic in Poll Forum
Way more in Winter for me, too cold to be outside for most of it and it gets dark at 5pm so gotta do something to pass the time. -
That Gameboy is beautiful, I wish I had the scratch for it.

Holy Grail "I Can Die, Happy" Collecting Moment
TPA5 replied to MotoRacer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
When I got my hands on an Atari Portfolio with a bunch of memory cards, serial adapter, and printer adapter from a member here. I had been wanting one for awhile, so that was pretty cool. But I don't think I've ever had the euphoric "er mah gerd" moment yet. There isn't enough collecting where I live for that to happen. -
How good is your arm? Maybe you can just pitch it to me over the line

I do NOT understand the appeal of these Minecraft videos ...
TPA5 replied to jaybird3rd's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I like this post. -
To be fair, that game is called Dirt. This looks pretty neat, I'll have to see what the reviews say first though. My issue with indie-type racing games is so often they miss on the controls. One reason F-Zero was so awesome was because it really nailed the physics, not too slippery but not too grippy at the same time. It's tough to capture that balance, and most of the arcadey racers I've tried usually go too far in one direction.

I do NOT understand the appeal of these Minecraft videos ...
TPA5 replied to jaybird3rd's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I don't understand, and have never understood, what the appeal of these videos are. I could go into a huge rant about how utterly inane they are, but I won't bother. They are stupid, and have always been stupid. That being said, these things have been spreading like the plague for years already. And someday when they finally die, some other silly bullshit will take its place. Now what I really don't understand are vlogs. Why on earth do people watch other people live their boring, regular lives? It's not as if they're celebrities, they are just regular people doing lame regular people stuff. What the fresh hell is this? -
Wisdom Tree Plug and Play Kickstarter!
TPA5 replied to PikoInteractive's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That's because posters at NA are spazzes. I remember playing Spiritual Warfare as a kid, but on the PC since we didn't have a console. Neat idea for a PNP, although $30 US is a little too much for me. -
They have the first one, for what it's worth, and it's still really good. Agreed about Mega Man, even though I'm terrible at them. Certainly not a perfect lineup, but a pretty damn good one in any case. I'm guessing Nintendo probably had a goal in mind for the number of games they wanted, and they made the list based on that. Glad I wasn't in charge of figuring that out, can you imagine the arguments in those meetings?
