  1. I would like to know what set up you are using to surf with your STe, would love to try it with my TT030 or falcon Ron
  2. you have TOS 1.6 in your STe, Mega STe's have TOS 2.05 for ones with 720K DSDD drive and TOS 2.06 for the ones with the 1.44Mb DSHD disk drive. As far as the upgrade you have 2 choices, you can buy the ROMS, there are 2 of them, and replace the TOS 1.6, with the TOS 2.06, or you can get a switchable ROM board with the TOS 2.06, with those you pull out the TOS 1.6 roms, insert the board into the ROM sockets on the motherboard, and then insert your TOS 1.6 ROMS into the empty sockets on the board, this gives you the option of switching between the two operating systems. check online for atari vendors to locate someone that has the parts you need. For future reference here is the TOS versions 1.0 - originally on disk, then on ROMS, found in Atari ST's made in 1985/86 1.2 - First revison found in ST's and Mega ST's made from 87-89 1.4 - Second revision, called rainbow TOS for the multicolor atari logo under the "DESK" menu - note TOS 1.6 for STe's is essentially the same version with additional code for blitter chip and extended pallette and stereo sound 1.6 - Atari STe version of TOS 1.4 2.05 - Mega STe version of TOS 1.6 2.06 - revised version of 2.05 with support for high density disk drives 3.05 - for Atari TT030's with DSDD disk drives 3.06 - revised version for TT030's with 1.44Mb floppys 4.00 - prototype for Atari Falcon030 4.04 - general release for Atari Falcon030 hope this answers some questions, feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any tech questions about your atari computers, I used to repair them back in the day
  3. Hi all I would just like to mention cause I was reading some info at the Atari historical society site, that items like the STylus writing tablet and CDAR504 CD ROM did exsist and must have been somewhat available. I know this because years ago my local Atari dealer had the items in his store and frequently let me use them or borrow them over the weekend. This is in Canada, and the dealership was called the Digital Centre, and the proprietor, Tony Cerecca always got in the latest gadgets from Atari Canada. In fact the only things I really did not see that were advertised were things like the Abaq transputer, presumably because it was extremely expensive and a few peripherals like the VR helmet for the Jag, etc. I just wish at the time I had the money to purchase some of the items, I do not know what became of them, Tony still operates his business, but sells PC's and Mac's from his home now instead of running a store, wether he returned the unsold merchandice to Atari Canada before it folded or still has items tucked away is unknown to me.
