  1. I've never played this before and know nothing about it. If there are any special rules you think we need for this round please let us all know. Game Rules: Manual Score Post Deadline: Sunday July 4 at 11:59 PM CST. AtariAge High Score: 1,099,100 by bubufubu posted on 9/21/2020 Scores as of 6/21: None NES Arcade: Below are 10 arcade ports we're playing alongside the regular games. You may post a score for any title, during the current regular season round. Score improvements are always accepted as well. Points for these games will be awarded at the end of the season. Each game will be scored like a regular season round, e.g. first place will receive 25 points, second 20 points, etc. All points earned here will be added to your season total. Anyone can join in at any time. A picture or screenshot is encouraged when posting a score but not required. The season is 15 rounds long. Games will be posted on Sundays and run two weeks through Sunday at 11:59 PM CST. Do not exploit game glitches, take advantage of 1-up loops or intentionally die in order to replay a level. If "point pressing" is not specified in the game rules you should be moving forward in an attempt to complete/loop the game and not "camping" for points. No emulator save states, slow-mo, rewind, etc. No cheats, e.g. Konami code, Game Genie, etc. Turbo controllers are allowed. Round points are awarded according to the following chart:
  2. Thanks for your patience. I'll have the next round up shortly. Points Awarded: bubufubu 184,140 +25 mbd39 174,800 +20 Razzie.P 103,100 +17 Lauren Tyler 35,790 +14 RuySan 34,620 +12 roadrunner 31,030 +10 jblenkle 22,160 +8 fakecortex 19,650 +7
  3. I'm going to be off the grid for the next week so I'm going to let the run through the 20th.
  4. That's good enough for me. I'll update the rules. @fakecortex Put me down for a bumper sticker.
  5. I wasn't ignoring you. I just haven't been on here in a while which is why I was late posting this round. You beat me to the punch. We're all up to date now. Thanks for the reminder though.
  6. How come? I really just wanted to simply the list. It occurred to me the other day that having the separate lists was a dumb idea. We have rounds with deadlines for players to post scores for season points. There is no season context with regard to the top scores list. The timeframe for when games are posted for a season is arbitrary. Arbitrary scores posted outside of a round should therefore be treated the same as those posted during a round. If a new game were posted each round that no one had ever played before then I could see the reason for having separate lists. Each player would be starting at zero every round and the length of the round would have a influence on the top score a player could achieve. A lot of us have been playing some of these games for 30+ years and we all bring different levels of experience to each round therefore the time length of a round isn't terribly important. It follows then because the round itself doesn't have much bearing on the posted scores that they shouldn't be separate. Frankly, at the end of the day having a single list just feels better. I was never really satisfied with the split list. Hopefully this answers your question and wasn't too much rambling.
  7. Game glitch exploits are definitely off limits. For simplicity I think we should avoid replaying any area whether that be reentering it to reset the timer or intentionally losing a life to start a section over. However I also understand that it's a risk/reward scenario to spend a life to try and grab more points. Does anyone else have an opinion on whether we want to allow this?
  8. Time to move on to Double Dragon... Points Awarded: bubufubu 191,700 +25 Razzie.P 137,600 +20 mbd39 124,600 +17 asponge 34,300 +14 fakecortex 11,800 +12 Lauren Tyler 11,200 +10 roadrunner 8,900 +8 RuySan 6,200 +7 jblenkle 3,200 +6
  9. Sorry this is a bit late. Since there's a timer on this one, go ahead and point press whichever way you'd like including sacrificing a life to replay a section of the game. 10. I just updated the all-time high scores site. I've done away with the separate competition/exhibition lists and merged all of the scores together. Some additional stats have been added to the home page for fun. If you've recently visited the site you may need to refresh to see the updates. As always, suggestions are welcome. 12. BreakThru - 34,300 Bump 'n' Jump - 77,370 BurgerTime - 7,700 Is it just me or are there more enemies in this BurgerTime than the arcade version?
  13. We looping this or is it a one and done, like the others? It doesn't appear that the difficulty increases. Let's just do one playthrough.
  14. Not sure how I missed that. Thanks for the catch. Maybe we can make that a regular thing for seasons going forward. I'm thinking a different theme each season could be fun. Some examples might be puzzle games, obscure games, anything published in 1988, etc.
  15. It's a bit tricky to capture your score with this one. After you've used up your last life the score disappears quickly and never returns. Screenshots aren't required so you if want to just jot down the score that's fine. If you want a screenshot, the best way is to quickly pause the game as the vehicle explodes while your life count is 1.
