  1. Nice! That puts you at number 2 on the scoreboard: https://neshsc.neocities.org/Games/1943.html.
  2. Some good looking scores here! This is one of my favorites and I didn't get a chance to get a score in this round. I'm glad you all enjoyed it though. 3. This is the last round of Season 20! Here is another game that had not made it into the HSC until today. Game Rules: No Continues Manual Score Post Deadline: Sunday August 7 at 11:59 PM CDT. AtariAge High Score: None Scores as of 8/2: Razzie.P 728,100 wongojack 346,100 fakecortex 180,300 mbd39 158,000 Frozone212 131,800 Season Standings: General HSC Season Rules: To participate, just post a score to the thread. Anyone can join in at any time. A picture or screenshot is encouraged when posting a score but not required. The season is 15 rounds long. Games will be posted on Sundays and run two weeks through Sunday at 11:59 PM CST. Do not exploit game glitches, take advantage of 1-up loops or intentionally die in order to replay a level. If "point pressing" is not specified in the game rules you should be moving forward in an attempt to complete/loop the game and not "camping" for points. No emulator save states, slow-mo, rewind, etc. No cheats, e.g. Konami code, Game Genie, etc. Turbo controllers are allowed. Season points are awarded according to the following chart:
  4. I can't accept this score. You've used some kind of cheat like a game genie code or something similar. The continue passcode in the screenshot indicates you made it to level 9. However, it also indicates the plane stats are fully maxed out. That's not possible without cheating. So there's no question, here is the documentation the explains this code: https://strategywiki.org/wiki/1943:_The_Battle_of_Midway/Password_system.
  5. In my opinion there are a handful of games that are tedious without turbo and this is one of them. If not having to button mash for hours increases your level of appreciation (and/or comfort, looking at you carpal tunnel) for a game then by all means, turn on the turbo. Dodging enemy fire isn't any easier no matter how fast your cannon is firing.

  7. 1943 hasn't been selected for the HSC since September 2006. Interestingly the 1942/3 NES game manuals mark the first appearances of Capcom's Captain Commando character as a "fictional spokesman" for Capcom USA touting the NES "Challenge Series." Here are the other games in the Challenge Series (1986-1989): https://fictionalcrossover.fandom.com/wiki/Captain_Commando. 8. Sorry guys, I'm going to extend this one the rest of the week until Sunday. I just don't have the time right now to pick something proper and get it posted.
  9. I figured as much. Just didn't want to throw out scores and change rules without running it by everyone. Rules have been updated. Game on!
  10. Well these are the pitfalls with posting a game you're not familiar with. Hmmm. We only have three scores posted so far. I feel like it makes the most sense to change the difficulty to Hard so the game can be completed. I don't know if it affects the score or not and I'd prefer everyone use the same setting. Is anyone who's posted a score so far against changing the difficultly rule to Hard and reposting their score?

  12. Sorry this is a little late. This one was a suggestion for Season 19. It looks like it could be fun. Hopefully this isn't too off-the-wall. Surprisingly this isn't the first time this has made an appearance in the HSC. A quick tip for those of you, like myself, who are going to jump in without reading the manual: jump and then hold down to to smash through a ledge. It took me more time than I'd like to admit to figure that out. You can access your score at any time by pausing the game. The score sticks around for about 10-15 seconds after game over. 13. Mesen is to my knowledge considered to be the gold standard for NES emulation. I recommend trying that first. If you're still having issues then the rom file is probably bad. You can use Mesen to verify whether you have a good rom file. To do so, start the game in the emulator. Next, open the Tools menu and click "Log Window". At the top of the window you'll see "File CRC32:" followed by a hexadecimal number. This number should be 0xBD0E29B3. If it's not, the rom file is bad.
  14. I agree. We played the strange setting just 18 months ago, which is pretty recent in HSC time, so it's not going to come back any time soon. However, feel free to post a score to the game thread if you want to and I'll put it on the scoreboard. AtariAge Ms Pac-Man Thread Ms. Pac-Man High Scores

  24. I'm with you on both points. The mechanics involved in riding the various dinosaurs is really cool. The rest of the game, ::shrug::? It's not that great. I want to like it, but there's something missing. A great NES game compels you to come back and play no matter the difficulty.
