  1. This HSC has been stagnating for years. It's pretty much dead at this point. If anyone wants to pick up the torch to keep this running I'd appreciate it. I personally don't have the time. I hope someone picks this up and keeps it running because I'd love to stick around as a participant. Sorry guys. It it what it is...

  3. This round has both a high score and a low score competition. The high score challenge is business as usual. Maximize your score and record it either when you're out of lives or you've completed the game. Point pressing and burning lives for points are allowed this round. Do not, however, collect the same 1up mushroom more than once. The object of the low score competition is to complete the game with the lowest score possible. Players are not required to complete every level in the game and may use warp zones to jump ahead. The game, however, must be completed in order to post a score. Season points will be awarded to both competitions separately so this round is essentially two in one. If there are ties in the posted low scores, the awarded points will be added together then divided equally amongst the players. For example, if two players have the lowest score for the round they'll take spots 1 and 2. The points for these positions will be added together (25 + 20 = 45) and then divided between the players (45 / 2 = 23) so they'll each receive 23 points. Finally, because this is a two for one round the deadline to post is in 4 weeks instead of the usual 2. High Score Rules: No continuesNo turtle trick for extra lives. Do not collect the same 1up mushroom more than once. Point pressing and burning lives for points is allowed this round. Low Score Rules: Must complete the game to submit a score. 5. What a coincidence you're playing Snake, Rattle n Roll. I was considering posting it this week. The only reason I didn't is because the last time we played this it turned into you and I going back and forth trying to get to the end of the game, posting our progress, and no one else was too into it. That was four years ago but I still remember it was pretty fun. Threads like that are the reason I want to try to keep this HSC alive.
  6. Next up is Kirby's Adventure. It's been nearly 13 years since this has made an appearance in the HSC. I'm posting this a bit early because I have a busy day tomorrow and frankly Magic Jewelry doesn't appear to pique anyone's interest. Please take note of the special rules. Most importantly, there is no timer in this game. Consequently, you should always be moving forward to complete levels and not camping for points. 8. Here's a different puzzle game we haven't played in a few years. The object is to match the colors of the falling jewel block. Points are scored by matching three or more jewelry pieces horizontally, vertically or diagonally. An "XXX" block will remove all jewels of the same color and advance the player to the next stage. Pressing A or B will rotate the position of the jewels within the falling block. Because the board is not hidden while the game is paused, no pauses are allowed. 10. Here's a basic game to ease back into the season. Thanks for your support and patience during the hiatus. I'll be on schedule again every two weeks going forward. 11. Just wanted to check in. I haven't forgotten about this. The whole family caught covid recently and we've been working through it for the last couple of weeks. I personally just started feeling better over the weekend. Anyway, I have a boatload of things both personally and professionally to catch up on over the next few weeks. I don't think I'm going to have time to get the HSC back on track until February. Seems like everyone is busy and/or taking a break anyway so I'm guessing this isn't much of a problem. Again, just wanted to check in. Thanks for your patience.
  12. Would you mind posting this in this Life Force thread? Without going into too much detail, the scoreboard site is generated from a spreadsheet I keep and I don't have a good way to log this because it doesn't match the posted game.
  13. I had forgotten that we took a break around this time last year since folks tend to be busy. Let's do that again this year. I'm going to extend this one until January if anyone wants to get a score in before then. The king of the hill thread seems like a failed experiment. Is anyone interested in continuing that or should it be swept under the rug and we'll move on? Otherwise, I'll see if there's a fun one-off to post within the next month.
  14. That's why I figured it was fair. You can either grind out a good score on easy (maybe) or score some bonus points due to a greater challenge.
  15. Round 5 is complete. Someday I'll finish this one. Points Awarded: mbd39 397,520 +25 asponge 146,180 +20 Razzie.P 134,820 +17 Asaki 99,720 +14 fakecortex 60,940 +12
  16. Here's a different Pac-Man like arcade port. Unless there are objections I think it's fair to pick your own difficulty for this one. Easy feels a bit too easy, but I don't want to force a higher difficulty if folks would rather keep it laid back. 19. Yup, I normally copy and paste the previous round to create the new one. Thanks for the heads up.
  20. Normally no but that's a great idea. I personally don't have a problem with this. I know there are other games where a code like that would have been useful.
