I've never really put much time into this game until today. Good pick mbd30.
I have a couple of scoring tips that aren't in the manual for other newcomers:
- Jumping on that pickup that drops shrubbery and whatnot yields 500 points.
- On level 3, if you take out the pickup another one will immediately spawn so you can rack up some points by jumping on each spawned truck.
- If you happen to hit the screw that brings you to the repair shop, continually tap the A button to increase your Power in order to collect the extra as a bonus at the end of the level.
Does anyone know if there is a trigger to spawn the "repair shop screw" or does it just show up randomly? Also, I will sometimes get a 5,000 point bonus at the end of a level. I looked this up and what I found said that you can get a 5,000 bonus for jumping an obstacle at the last second. I'm unable to replicate this. Is what I read true, or I'm I scoring this bonus through some other means?

Here is a small site I created to log the scores posted to this HSC and maintain the top scores list. I had fun putting it together and I hope you all enjoy browsing. There are still new features coming, but let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see here.

im in pics to follow
We're on the honor system here so pictures/screenshots aren't normally required. If your score is insanely high it's appreciated. Otherwise, feel free to post your score without them.

It would be great if we play in future rounds:
Taito Chase HQ
Popeye
Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong / Jr
Pac-Man
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll add them to the mix.

only had 1 subscriber left on Thursday so I was breaking a lot of windows for points x)
Absolutely.
I looked up the manual earlier and here are the point targets:
Tossing a paper into a subscriber's paperbox: 750
Tossing a paper onto a subscriber's porch: 300
Breaking a non-subscriber's window: 300
Hitting a bush, tombstone, lamp or garbage can: 300
Hitting a round target in training course: 200
Hitting a box-shaped target in training course: 100
Picking up an extra bundle of papers: 50
After reviewing this list it looks like you could score more points by retaining a single subscriber and just wreaking havoc on the rest of the neighborhood. It's rare I hit the "paperbox" and breaking a window is worth the same as getting it on the porch. I've never played the game like that, but that might be an option.
Either way, you get a good bonus at the end of the training course. According to the manual you get 100 points for every second left on the timer when you complete it.

I like the music, but the controls are terrible. It's easy to misdrop because of how twitchy the controls are. This game has grown on me.
I didn't like the game much at first either. It's a bit rough around the edges. But, I agree, it's good once you play it a bit.

@asponge -- will the all-time records be recorded the same as Jibajabba did? meaning, you can post after the round is over and it still counts toward the all-time best?
This won't happen immediately, but ideally I'd like to split the all-time best scores into two lists. One would track just scores submitted during the weekly competitions. The other would track scores submitted anytime. I view the two as separate competitions so I think there's value in maintaining both lists. So yes, you can submit a score at anytime, but I'm planning to change how those scores get logged. If anyone has any feelings about this one way or another I'd appreciate your feedback.

The game for this round is Magic Jewelry. The object is to match the colors of the falling jewel block. Points are scored by matching three or more jewelry pieces horizontally, vertically or diagonally. An "XXX" block will remove all jewels of the same color and advance the player to the next stage. Pressing A or B will rotate the position of the jewels within the falling block. Because the board is not hidden while the game is paused, no pauses are allowed.

Game Rules:
No pausing.
