Always good to see new Vectrex developers around, tanuki. Controlling the game with a sort of cap on the finger looks very interesting and I'm curious how this works. Looks like some sort of lightpen but from what I can see there is no cable to the controller port?!

Since the last news about the Dark Tower project months have passed. In the background, things were progressing a bit, but in small steps. The steps were too small and not satisfying, so that Nico and I finally decided to leave the project in good hands. And they are good hands: Only recently Sean Kelly has taken over the Dark Tower project and will complete it. Thank you for your understanding and patience - the wait should be over soon and will be worth it. To you, Sean, many thanks for taking over the Dark Tower project. Nico and I wish you every success in completing it!

A good decision. Please let us know at some stage what you think about the black, upright shoe box, nd2003grad.

The vector graphics of the Vectrex are really something unique. There are some effects like glowing, wobbling, and bright start/end points which make the graphics look even more interesting. The graphic overlay are surprising to those who don't know about them but again their effect is cool. If you don't mind playing comparatively simple games (compared to games of todays), then I'd also say: Go for it!
Some things to consider/take into account:
- Make sure that the Vectrex comes with a fully functional controller, i.e. joystick recenters automatically (otherwise a spring might be broken) and all buttons of the controller should work precisely. Single controllers are pretty expensive.
- A permanent buzz is very typical for the Vectrex console. Newer Vectrex models with serial 31xxxxx or 4xxxxxx don't have this typical buzz. Some people think that the buzz is part of the Vectrex experience, some people buy and apply a debuz kit to their Vectrex console. Decide yourself.
- Image of the Vectrex console should be sharp and clear and there should be little or no wobbling of the size of drawn objects.
Good luck and have fun, nd2003grad!

In summer I had contacted @Hotgames and asked him for support for the Dark Tower repro project but all I got was an offer with a too steep price which I had rejected. Does anybody know what happened to this copy of Dark Tower and the Dark Tower overlay?

Right, VecFever is great for 50 (or probably even less) chosen people. And for all those people posting here and wanting one it's just a dissappointment which could have been avoided. So I'm very happy and thankful that Brett develops the VEXTREME.
@playvectrex: Perhaps a good idea to start a new topic for the VEXTREME, Brett.

I didn't know that there were issues on some Vectrex consoles. VecMulti works fine on all my MB Vectrex consoles (buzz & non-buzz).

Really great that you're back in the Vectrex scene, Richard. As written before, the VecMulti is a very important piece in the Vectrex puzzle.

Thank you, Mat, for explaining the process. My only addition is that the goal is Dark Tower repro of high quality which requires quite some time and effort. We do all graphics pretty much from scratch and do reviews and checks on the graphics.
Your Dark Tower overlay could help us to achieve best quality for our Dark Tower project. I've just sent you a PM.
Su superposición de su Dark Tower podría ayudarnos a lograr la mejor calidad para nuestro proyecto de Dark Tower. Acabo de enviarte un PM.

Nico and I want to give you a brief update on the Dark Tower project. During the past weeks Nico and I clarified production details and cared for graphics of box, overlay, manual, and cartridge sticker which are almost finished. Tony, Mat, Jim, Chris P., Ian, and Dave kindly support us with their information, feedback, or work which is much appreciated!
Here's a picture of the original scan of the Dark Tower manual and what we did out of it:

It's still some few months (not years) to go. Just to make sure: Preordering hasn't started, yet.

This topic's title makes me remember a topic in the Vectorgaming Forum: http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/thread/576/gce-thrust-ebay

By now I could complete 21 out of 29 Vectrex manual²s. Tony H. did most of the logos - thank you very much for this excellent effort!
-
The Dark Tower project is progressing slowly (basically because of me). But we will get there - that's for sure.

Yes there is. Please see here in the Vectorgaming Forum.... BTW, Is there somewhere I can find the software for the old VecFlash Serial version? I recently came across my old cart, but I'm not sure where I put a copy of the loader software.
-
Interesting. I would have thought that prices were higher. Did you offer international shipping, Chris?Hi, I replied by PM but for wider reference these are the prices in UK Pounds I got on eBay in June 2018 (not including postage): ...

Fonts used in the Vectrex manual²s are Helvetica, Avalon, Golden Old Style, and Gill Sans in various weights.Do you happen to have the list of fonts that you used? I find that the ones I downloaded are named differently, so I have to manually go through every page

-
In the meantime 17 out of 29 Vectrex manual²s are created.
I am progressing more slowly than expected - from today it will still take about 2 years until all manuals are ready.
