I have good and bad news: First the good news - congratulations on identifying all of the games correctly. You guys are good. The bad news - but you're not that good (yet). Even though the letters can be arranged to spell Atari Video Cube, that is not the answer You didn't really think the solution to this one was going to be a duplicate of the Frankenstein contest did you? It's just coincidence that the first letters spell out another game *wink wink nudge nudge* Identifying the games is an important step though. Keep trying. Everyone is free to answer again.

Amazingly I've discovered that I have two extras of the prize cart! Therefore, I'll give them both away. The first person to answer correctly will win one of the carts. I will then randomly select someone else from all of the later remaining correct answers and they will win also. This way, even if someone beats you to the answer, you still get a shot to win. Because of this, you can only submit one answer until I reset the guesses and allow you to try again.

The children that live in my neighborhood are undoubtedly the best kids in the world. Every single one of them dressed as an Atari 2600 character! I made a list of everyone who stopped by. Like Sniderman's contest, see if you can figure out which Atari 2600 game they combined to represent. If you're the first to figure it out and explain how you did it, you win the contest and the mystery cart! 6:04 P.M. My first treater! Look at you. I know that game I cried out in joy. As he left I could see the Atari symbol on his back. 6:12 P.M. Doorbell rings. Look at this little guy! What a cute costume! 6:18 P.M. Whack, whack, whack. I opened my door just in time to catch a stick in the head from this kid. "Take some candy and get the puck outta here!!" I yelled 6:25 P.M. This time they came as a pair. Nice kids and cute costumes I thought. 6:37 P.M. I didn't recognize this kid so I asked, "Do you live around here?" "Yes, I'm one of the Zellers" he replied. 6:43 P.M. Ding-dong. I answered the door but no one was there. 6:48 P.M. What in the world is this I ask myself. I don't know but it looks like pure chaos I respond. 6:56 Instead of ding-dong, I hear ding, ding, ding, ding. I nearly flipped out when I saw this costume. 7:01 P.M. Thump, thump, thump. Sounds like arrows hitting my door. No wonder. "Why do you look so sad on Halloween?" I ask. "Because I have to trick or treat alone tonight" was the reply. 7:08 P.M. I heard the faint cry "HELP!" and there she was. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I'm afraid of heights both the smelly ape and man keep taking me higher" she replied. I gave her some airheads seeing how her name was already on the wrapper. 7:13 P.M. Knock, knock, knock. Greedy pig took a whole handful before I could say "just one". 7:21 P.M. Ding-dong. I answered the door but again no one was there. 7:25 P.M. I think to myself "Weren't these guys here earlier tonight?" but give them more candy anyhow. The one on the right really seems to like those Reeces Pieces. 7:30 P.M. Last beggar of the night. I gave him the rest of the candy. END OF TRICK OR TREAT Now, just like Snider-man's contest, you need to figure out the cart that these treaters collectively make. Good Luck!

Tim, I can't seem to send you a PM. I've tried to send a few but they're stuck in my Outbox along with another PM I tried to send on September 8th Has anyone else had this problem?
-
I know it but I already have it!

You could be right if you're looking at a short period of time. I do think the cart prices have some seasonality. However, over the past few years I think most of the common - rare games have actually decreased in price. I can remember when even Chase the Chuckwagon, Waterworld, Tapper, Spy Hunter, and others went for more than they do today. The rarest of rare carts go for greater prices though. I think that's because they still rarely show up for sale but eBay has increased the number of buyers also.
-
There must be quite a few people who are dependent upon eBay for at least part of their income since I see tons of Power Sellers. I don't have a problem with people who want to make eBay their job. It should only increase the supply and ultimately bring down prices thus creating more 'bargains' for the rest of us.

I know you were just teasing but I'm much more hesitant to bid if the seller does not let me know how much the shipping will be or doesn't at least state that they will ship for the actual cost.

5200 Track ball new in box(still stapled closed): $177.50
cvga replied to kherman's topic in Auction Central
That box was in great condition. I would have been willing to pay much much more than the winning bid amount ... but I couldn't bid on this one because I'm allergic to cats -
Maybe it thought your name was SaTAN instead of Stan

BigPlayer, thanks for the tips. I tried to drive many times on the computer but the best thing that ever happened was that he sometimes fouled me. Usually I ended up just getting the ball stolen. I was able to grab some boards after boxing out and making sure to stay away from the end line. However, I have a tendency to move the joystick forward when I going for the rebound so I still went out of bounds quite a bit. I'm going to play some more tonight and try your tips!
-
It is a generic cart with no label. However, they did make a box for it. The box is a plain white box with a little red sticker that says something like Everything goes better with Coke.
-
Since you went to OSU and live in Cincinnati, hopefully you'll get to watch the Buckeyes crush UC On a more related note, I pulled out my Double Dunk cart and played a little. The computer is tough! I kept getting the ball stolen and when I pulled down a rebound I landed out of bounds much of the time. Any Double Dunk playing tips?
-
Then you need to play more Double Dunk. At the end of the game it shows the game stats and actually displays the names Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside on the screen. That was going to be the next clue "This character's name is displayed on the screen during part of the game." There can't be too many characters that this is true for.

Oh yeah, one more thing... oesii - PM me your address and I'll get your prize in the mail. scooterb23 - if you're collection's not too big, PM me a list of some of the less rare games you need and I'll send you one if I have it as a consolation prize. It can't be more rare than Front Line though Everyone else - thanks again!!
-
Congrats go out to oesii The last character was Mr. Inside Choosing someone from Double Dunk made the contest more difficult than I imagined. Here is the reasoning behind some of my prior comments: One of the people on Atari Age reminds me of this character: That would be The Big Player. Even before I held the contest, I associated his name with Mr. Inside. I believe he also refers to himself as the Double Dunk Zen Master which I didn't know when I posted the clue. Later... Everyone is free to try again so throw out another guess. I was sure that someone would jump on "free throw". Interestingly, everytime I used "throw out", I didn't mean it to be a reference to which player (sorry scooterb23). Next day.. Everyone can now take another shot at the answer. Later... The guess that was closest yet was Mr. Mean. I should have been more specific as there were too many guesses between my posts for anyone to get much useful info from that 'clue'. Later... Everyone keeps putting up bricks. I knew someone would associate this with basketball but thought that it would also lead some people incorrectly back toward Oink, Squeeze Box, etc. Props to StanJr for immediately jumping all over the basketball reference. Jeers for not following up on it. Lastly... some say this game would have been truly super if things had just been a little different The original title of Double Dunk was "Super Basketball" Everyone: Thanks for participating. This was a heck of a lot of fun for me.
-
Still haven't gotten it yet but some say this game would have been truly super if things had just been a little different. Try again.
-
Everyone keeps putting up bricks. This has been fun but someone needs to win this game soon. The character's name is not part of the name of the game. You also control this character with a joystick. Everyone can guess again.
-
No one has it yet. Remember that the character has a name so it's not the boy (or girl) from Ghost Manor. FYI - it's not any of the monsters from Rampage either but that's a good guess. In fact, one of the guesses since my last post is the closest yet. One more clue - no one has even gotten the right game yet so you don't need to guess characters from games that have already been guessed from. Go ahead and take another shot. I don't think it will be long now (at least I hope not) Good luck!

There's a really cool homebrew portable 2600. I saw it live at PhillyClassic 2001. Someone probably has a link to a website for it.
-
Not yet. Here's another clue... - you can play as this character if you want but you don't have to Everyone can now take another shot at the answer Someone please win this game!!!
-
Nope, nope, nope. The missing character has an actual name so it's not "a paratrooper from M.A.D." or even the dolphin from Dolphin. I didn't want the game to be too hard so I picked characters that I thought would be guessed fairly quickly. Also, you may find an additional clue in my prior post if you reread it. Everyone may now guess again (including StanJr) Good luck
-
Aarggh! No one has it yet. Don't pay too much attention to the term 'memberlist' that I used before. It's someone who posts fairly frequently that reminds me of the missing character. Everyone is free to try again so throw out another guess
