  1. Sorry for the long pause between my responses. I had to work past midnight for the second night in a row. I usually get to work around 8 a.m. and leave around 5 p.m. so I've put in a couple of long days. To make matters worse, our web monitoring software won't allow me to access AtariAge so I can only post from home Anyhow, no one has guessed the remaining character correctly yet. Thanks to Stan for listing all of the guesses so far. Let's see, a clue (although admittedly weak) is that one of the people on the memberlist to AtariAge reminds me of the last character. Good luck
  2. All good guesses (especially Jeffrey's pictures) but none are correct yet. I'll start providing some clues if no one gets it correctly soon. I don't think the missing one is much tougher than the 3 you've already identified. Also, I considered a character to be a representation of a living thing so it's not the asteroids ship or the space invaders cannon or anything like that (although they were good guesses). Everyone is now eligible to submit another guess
  3. The auction has been pulled. What was there
  4. When I've won multiple items from a seller who will not combine shipping, then I force them to mail all of the items separately. Once, a seller changed his mind and agreed to reduce shipping and another time the seller got very upset with me for requesting each auction to be shipped separately even though he wouldn't combine shipping charges.
  5. That's a good point but I think most of the people who purchase these older games are buying them as much for the packaging as the data on the diskettes. Someone pointed out that you can download Zork for free but that won't stop people from wanting to also have the original box and documentation. A bigger concern to me would be the number of duplicate titles you would be purchasing. There is a demand for this stuff today but the demand is still limited.
  6. Don't be sure that it won't sell. It appears that he's getting rid of it because he wants to sell the warehouse that is being used to store the games. At $1 per game, it's not a bad deal. The key will be finding someone with the resources (funds, time, and space) and desire to purchase this lot.
  7. Time for an update... I think everyone had at least two right and lots of people have 3 correct answers in the correct position. In addition, two of you correctly guessed Front Line which is the prize. It does have a tear on the end label but it is free and shipping is free! Instead of making you type in all of the characters, I think it's pretty safe to conclude that everyone can figure out this much of the puzzle now: Yorgle Quickclaw ________ Mad Bomber All you need to do from this point on is fill in the blank. Good luck Also: - I really liked Jeffrey's picture answers. Cool idea - Someone guessed "dragon from Adventure" earlier and I debated stating that I needed more detail but that would have given it away. - thanks for the positive remarks.
  8. Update time... Inextremis staple, Fretwobbler, MegaManFan, StanJr, Xot, SmileyDude, Osmeroid, jahfish - 2 correct and in the correct position DuckandCover - 3 correct and in the correct position!!!! No one has guessed the prize yet. I wish I had a Quadrun or Atlantis II to give out since it would mean that I also have one. To give you an idea of the rarity, I saw one sell for $7.25 on eBay recently. Good luck!
  9. Oh man, that was too funny. Thanks for the link.
  10. Update Time: One Correct Character in the correct position thelen Two Correct Characters w/ one in the correct position StanJr Scooterb23 DuckandCover Two Correct Characters w/ both in the correct position cap5750 Fretwobbler MegamanFan Turnspike No one has guessed the prize correctly yet.
  11. Time for an update Scooterb23 - one correct character w/ zero in the right order StanJr - one correct character w/ zero in the right order DuckandCover - one correct w/ zero in the right order Fretwobbler - two correct characters w/ one in the right order MegaManFan - one correct character and in the right order Turnspike - one correct w/ zero in the right order Even though Stan may win H.E.R.O., he still has to correctly guess the original prize to win. Good luck!!
  12. Stan pleaded Alright Stan, if you win and I have an extra HERO cart, it's yours. However, you have to make a decision with your next guess and let me know if you're choosing the HERO over whatever prize I'm giving out. The catch is since you won't know what the prize is at that point yet, you have to take the risk of missing out on something you may have wanted even more. BAWAAAHAHAHAH
  13. More good guesses. Now, I'm going to have to look up some of the characters mentioned just to find out which game they came from. Anyhow, here are the results from the last set of guesses: Scooterb23 - one correct character with zero in the correct position Moycon - one correct character with zero in the correct position Remember, you have to have the characters lined up correctly also to win! No one has guessed the prize correctly yet. Everyone is free to guess again.
  14. Seems reasonable to me. Plus unless you would have been able to find all of them locally, you would have had to pay multiple shipping charges! My wife's pretty cool about the money I spend (or I've successfully desensitized her to it by now).
  15. At a buck a game, it sounds like a good deal to me. Especially if you need 40 of them. Even when my collection was small, I didn't have many opportunities to add 40 carts that I needed in one shot!

    commercials

Wow! That Atlantis commercial is a classic. I also got a laugh watching/listening to the "Merry-o Brothers" commercial Thanks for the link.
  17. OK, good guesses but none of the characters guessed so far are correct. I will admit though that Frostbite Bailey and Roderick HERO were on the list of candidates and just missed the final cut Also, don't forget to guess the prize! It's not a common. Everyone is free to guess again.
  18. I learned how to play Euchre at Ohio State also!! I was a math TA in 1991 and since no one ever came to visit us during office hours, I spent that time productively learning how to play Euchre.
  19. Atari2600Lives - I only have one Music Machine now since I traded the other away a long time ago. I've also promised to let Marco know if I ever decide to part with it. He's only interested in the box though
  20. This contest is like the game mastermind. I'm thinking of 4 characters from various Atari 2600 games. You have to guess the characters and get them in the correct order. In order to win, you also have to guess the prize (which is also an atari cart). I will pay shipping costs for mailing the prize. Like the snider-man contests, you can only make one guess after each of my posts. When I post I will announce how many characters you have correct and how many you have in the correct position. Here's an example of a beginning guess: Q*bert, Popeye, E.T., Evil Otto Prize: Combat The actual prize is more rare than Combat If it takes too long, I will post hints to help identify the characters. Good luck! Hopefully this will be fun.[/img]
  21. I used to find great things in the wild but not so much anymore. Of course, I don't get to "hunt" as often as I used to so that's probably part of the reason why also. Anyhow, some of my best finds were: Music Machine (loose) - $1 Color Bar Generator - $3 I didn't have any idea that either one of these were rare at the time. Later I found a Music Machine complete in the box for $2. I traded the loose one for a Boing, Video Jogger, Video Reflex and one other game that I can't remember right now. Once when I was flea marketing with one of my best friends (who I also got into collecting) we found two Coke Wins. One of them (mine ) was even in the box! The guy who had them knew that they were collectible so we had to pay $10 for the loose one and $25 for the boxed one Oddly, one day I found a loose Chase the Chuckwagon at a flea market and later found the instructions to the game but no cart at a booth on the complete other side! My guess is that whoever sold me the cart bought it at the booth where I found the instructions (their carts were only $1) and resold at a profit (I paid $4 for the cart). Even though they didn't have the cart where I got the instructions, I had to buy a cart for them to let me take a set of instructions. I think I bought a Pacman. I wish I would have kept a log of where I went and what I found from the time I started collecting. It would be fun to be able to read through it now!
  22. Ron wrote: Maybe I'm missing something here but I thought you had to send in a video tape to get your score listed in the Book of World Records.
  23. I have a Waterworld shirt (along with Earthworld and Fireworld) but they are all in poor condition. The guy who had them before me told me that he used them to wax his car before he knew that they were collectible
  24. That does sound cool. Any pictures?
  25. I don't know but I like Stan Jr. much better than the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer for some reason. Maybe it's the avatar.
