I buy VHS storage towers when they go on sale. Since they are meant to hold VHS movies, they typically have about 7-8 shelves which each hold two stacks of 6-7 carts nicely. They display well and it's easy to purchase another as my collection grows. Each one holds about 100 carts.

How Many of You Guys Own Mangia, is it PAL or NTSC
cvga replied to Joel D. Park's topic in Atari 2600
I have one that is PAL. -
I have the cart, box, instructions, record, book, and a coupon for $1 off (the record I think). I had to pay a hefty sum of $2 but I think it was worth it.

I received mine today also. I saw the cool levels at CGE and instantly knew I wanted one.

Final Fantasy 2 - Brand New/Factory Sealed
cvga replied to Nintendo Penguin's topic in Auction Central
Wow! That's a really cool avatar!!! I have no reason to doubt the factory seal but why didn't you say that you know the seller back in your first or second post instead of saying that you just happened to see auction? -
Barnstorming - Game #1 - 32.04 - What the...?!?!!
cvga replied to Jeffy Arensmeyer's topic in Atari 2600
This was one of the things I really wanted to see at CGE but didn't get to. Was anyone able to see Todd duplicate (or come close) to his record? I saw a bunch of people playing dragster for a $25 prize but I didn't see Todd play any games -
Scariest (home console) video games of all time?
cvga replied to Scot from S.C.'s topic in Atari 2600
I don't know if it counts as scary but my heart always starts to beat faster when I can hear but can't see the dragon (or the troll or the bear) while playing Intellivision AD&D (Cloudy Mountain). For other systems not mentioned yet, I'd include: TG 16 - Splatterhouse NES - Chiller -
I was just looking through the new Digital Press game guide and some new game ideas popped into my mind that you guys might want to use. How about these? 3D Tic Tac Toe II Adventure II - I think someone might be doing this one already though Adventures of Tron II Air Raid II Air Raiders II Airlock II Air-Sea Battle II Alien II Alpha Beam with Ernie II Amidar II stay tuned. Maybe I'll have some more ideas later (after I've turned the first page).

Talking about consoles here leads to nice find!
cvga replied to Atari2600Lives's topic in Atari 2600
Wow! Nice score. I hate when they write on the boxes. At a thrift near me, they not only write on the box but seal it with packing tape that they wrap around the box several times. -
Got my Atari for Christmas of 1980. It came with Combat and I also received Breakout. The first game I actually bought (about a month later) was Basketball. I remember looking through the catalog that came with the games and trying to decide which to get next. For some reason, I thought Street Racer sounded like great fun but I was really disappointed after I finally got it.

Doh! I circled the wrong letter in MASH.

BEAMRIDER!

The Donkey Kong is gone. I stopped by today and saw the Pengo but there was only an empty space where DK must have been sitting. Hopefully, someone on the board picked it up

I think it's good that you guys waited until you saved some money. Most small businesses fail due to a lack of funding. How is this company going to be run differently than the one you proposed in June? If I recall correctly, you gave up after about a week. Also, we're near the end of summer. Will you be able to commit the time needed to run a potentially large corporation once school starts? I'm assuming that you're still in school based on your previous strategies of trying to get more kids involved in Atari.

Holy moley-Yet another Sniderman 2600 Mystery Cart Giveaway!
cvga replied to Snider-man's topic in Contests
Glad this is over since I would have guessed Private Eye next since Eye is a palindrome (I caught that after I figured out that Otto wasn't a character) and Tim was giving everyone another "crack" at it after each post. I thought crack was a clue to cracking the case like a private eye. I went with Elevator Action the first time since Otto is the somewhat obscure name of the main character of the game and we were told that it wasn't a CGE release (at least this time). Funny how you can find unintended clues that lead you to a bunch of different games -
Holy moley-Yet another Sniderman 2600 Mystery Cart Giveaway!

Elevator Action? -
Hey AtariFreak, I have one that I'll give you for free. It doesn't have the box or manual but the price is right I've been away from AtariAge for a long time so to celebrate my return, I'll even pay for the shipping. Just send me a note with the address you want it sent to and I'll get it out.

For me it was Gopher. We bought that game at the grocery store for $5 when I was a little kid. I thought it was hilarious hitting that little guy over the head with my shovel.

Ironically if you look at jahfish's picture and the one in the link, Imagic used two different thumbs. The German thumb is the right thumb while the American thumb is the left thumb. With joysticks, the left thumb makes sense because it's the one you would use to push the fire button. Jahfish, did your atari have joysticks or the joypads? If it had joypads, are the fire buttons on the left-hand or right-hand side? I'm wondering if the thumbs are random or if Imagic really put some thought into it.

Did anyone else ever join Imagic's Numb Thumb Club (there's an ad in the back of most of their catalogs)? I remember sending in my $2 and waiting and waiting without them sending me my membership card or poster. We wrote back to them and nothing happened. Finally my mother talked someone from the Better Business Bureau into helping us. I did end up receiving the card and poster but I don't know what happened to them. I can't even remember which poster I asked for How many different posters did they release? I would love to have one of each!

My rarest item would either have to be my boxed Coke Wins or boxed Music Machine. Someday I'll get them both scanned and sent to AtariAge.

I also got 100% but I'll admit that I guessed on the Rampage question

Albert said: quote: "I bet if Paperboy was attempted on the Atari 2600, it would scroll vertically as opposed to horizontally. This would probably make it easier to show more sprites, as my understanding is that it's difficult to get many on row horizontally, at least without horrible flicker. " Excellent point. If you look at MNetwork catalogs you can see that they completely changed the look of international soccer from a horizontal to a vertically scrolling game.

Count me in. I'd definitely be interested.
