I put Pitfall ahead of Pitfall 2 for a couple of reasons. I like the limited lives aspect much better than being transported back to the last "cross"; I like the combination of the above ground/underground mechanics. It adds a strategy element that Pitfall 2 doesn't have. There's more of a sense of urgency with the 20 minute limit Although I don't mind the Pitfall 2 music, it becomes tiring after awhile I probably also subconsciously give Pitfall a little more credit because it was first and blew my mind when it was initially released

Someone was asking $190 for one about two weeks ago. You could probably do a search to find out who and ask if it's still available.

That's become the most popular time for me to go these days. The lobby is open, the self service machine is usually working, and no one else is ever there.

Also, I'm assuming it's just coincidental that we had a Fred Meyer back then and today there's a large department store named Meijer (pronounced the same way) that was started by Fred Meijer.

Those are awesome on multiple levels. It's fascinating to watch the price of the system decrease. It's also interesting that they are showing Air-Sea Battle on the television in the first ad but I'm sure the pack-in game, that they don't identify, is Combat. Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I don't understand this on multiple levels. Income (earnings) and revenue (sales) are not the same thing. How do they know that we aren't selling items at a loss that would generate no income? I'm also not sure how eBay can view sellers as independent contractors. We're using their platform, we're not working for them nor did they contract us to provide a service. I'm glad I haven't sold all that much. I should send eBay a 1099 for the amount that I've purchased on their site.

All the Atlantis 2 carts have the "night scene" I'd say $100 to $150 sounds right as a package deal. I'd recommend including a coax adapter so they won't have to mess with a switchbox.

Definitely not. I think Best Electronics sold some of those games (Frog Pond, Dukes of Hazzard, etc) for $12-20 a long long time ago. They probably go for $60-$100 today. Malagai and Gauntlet are really really rare but I don't think those prices are unreasonable. My opinion is that you may have overpaid a touch for Dukes but none of those games are available very often so enjoy your purchase.

Not odd but I remember buying a cheaper printer and then having to search for an interface that would work with it. By the time I found one and paid for it, I had wished I just bought the more expensive printer.

@Cmherndon79 is installing a McWill screen in my Lynx right now. Not sure what he charges (I traded him some games for the labor) but he's fixed other things for me and does a fantastic job.

I've been watching and enjoying the videos. The Christmas picture at the end was pretty cool, not only for the Colecovision but also for that time period in general. You mentioned Oil's Well. It's one of my favorite games from back in the day. I used to play it on my Commodore 64. It's quite a bit different than the game you described (I know you weren't describing Oil's Well). Oil's Well is more of an action game, very similar to the Aardvark game released for the 2600 in the Atari Age store. Also, just out of curiosity, my wife wants to know what type of room you're in (she watched less than 30 seconds of one episode lol). She thought it was a basement because of the air register in the ceiling and what she's assuming is a utility/sump pump/etc closet at what she thinks is the bottom of your basement stairs. I pointed out that there's what appears to be access to storage or something in the ceiling and that I've seen background light in other videos that makes me think you're not in a basement. Clearly you're in a basement, upstairs or somewhere inbetween lol. Keep the videos coming. Really enjoying them.

Looks like there are 6 different games on the standee between them. Boxing on the left and Skiing in the middle. I can't make out the others but I'd guess maybe Bridge in the middle behind Skiing, Checkers in the upper right corner andFishing Derby in the upper left corner. The game in the front on the right is a mystery to me which is odd since we can see the front of the (blurry) box. Based on the artwork, I would think it's Laser Blast but Laser Blast was released in an orangish box. Maybe the color of the box was changed or it's a different game.

Fun read. Thanks for sharing. I remember my mother taking me literally everywhere to try and buy Donkey Kong when it was released. After going to sold-out after sold-out store, I spotted Atari games for sale in the window of a Lowery's Music Center and we snagged their last copy. Pianos, sheet music and Donkey Kong. Makes total sense. BTW - I loved it then and still love it now. Reading Mr. Kitchen's story just makes it that much better.

It certainly appears that market date is release date. I would have been pretty disappointed to pay $31.95 for Racquetball! Looks like they even had trouble hyping it for the description.
