Machintosh IIc Memory Expansion Modules?
else replied to A2600's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There was no such computer as the Macintosh IIc. There was the Apple IIc, and a number of Macintosh II models (II, IIx, IIsi, IIcx, etc). -
I have a silver-label era Atari calendar. Not sure if that is the one they are refering to?

Apple /// with profile, drives, monitor and more
else replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Auction Central
GEOS can run on an Apple III in emulation mode? I thought that it required double-hi res graphics which were only present on the Apple IIe and IIc (not the Apple II+ that the Apple III emulates). I also thought only later version of AppleWorks supported the mouse, but those required 128k IIe's and IIc also.... I still don't get how that mouse can hook up and work with that Apple III. I used to own an Apple III and my understanding is that it would only work if you installed the Apple IIe mouse card in it and got a special SOS driver for it. I don't remember a mouse port on the back of the III. Anyhow, I guess my memory is apparently slipping on this... 979157 -

Nice! Is the Apple III actually capable of using that mouse? I thought it was discontinued before the invention of the mouse.... -
I like the hat and scarf too. I bet they are nearly impossible to find now, even with eBay, since they don't indicate that they are "Atari" products anywhere on them....

the new coleco hardware (technosource USA)
else replied to christianscott27's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Coleco DID release an enhanced machine!!! It was called the ADAM (and it started life as the Super Game Module). -
So in other words we're supposed to do your homework for you?

I have all three boxed, but unfortunatley don't own a scanner....

The INTV 2's controllers are.. ermm.. cheaper than standard INTV controllers. They're not as reponsive (at least IMO) and the buttons are stiffer than a standard model 1s. 964977 It is amazing that Mattel didn't opt for a joystick and better buttons on the controllers when they re-did them for the Intellivision II. Instead, they managed to do the impossible -- make EVEN WORSE controllers....

Actually, some people would argue that there are 32 bits missing from the Jaguar

Excellent Jay! Thanks for the update. I was just kinda suprised when I saw the eBay auctions....

So is the Fight for Life beta version going to be for sale to the general public or not? I thought it was, but I haven't seen anything mentioned around here lately. And now there are two of these beta's for sale on eBay that also say no more are going to be made. That's too bad if it is true -- I was really patiently looking forward to it..... eBay 1 eBay 2

Very nice!

What do you mean -- it's a great way to sign your name! Sure beats writing out all those other boring letters and stuff....

Wow, that's quite an interesting read. I never knew that the Atari 7800 contained a lot of intellectual property that was stolen -- er, borrowed -- from Coleco. It is amazing that a few guys on the east coast created this whole thing by themselves (with the borrowed IP). What were the hundreds or thousands of Atari employees on the west coast doing the whole time -- just taking long lunches and collecting a paycheck? It kills me that Atari wasn't able develop the 7800 internally -- they must have had a huge amount of resources at their disposal and yet they totally blew it....

So it's basically a cardboard box with a sticker on it that makes this auction "special"? Eh, doesn't do anything for me....
-
Yea, I suppose. I just can't see say, Nintendo, licensing Mario to Sony or Microsoft. Then again, maybe that's why Nintendo is still in business and Atari isn't. A minor screwup in a long list of screwups....

I'm always been confused how Coleco ended up releasing a Dukes of Hazzard game for the Colecovision. I mean, back in the day... Dukes of Hazzard = Warner Bros property, right? Warner Bros = Atari's owner, right? Seems like a natural the Dukes would end up as an exclusive on the Atari, not the Colecovision. Anybody have a theory on this?

Please.... Wages. Average Walmart salary is like $12/hr. More then twice minimum wage. You want to talk about evil companies, start with the ones that will only pay minimum wage. Lets look at my last two jobs. Asst Mgr at Goodwill for $6.50/hr. Then my tech job at MTV/Viacom. it took 4 years there before I was making $12.50/hr. Lets repeat that one: tech job, multimedia mega conglomorate, 4 years, $12.50/hr. Health coverage. A lot of companies don't provide coverage for all their people. Hell, alot don't provide coverage at all. God forbid you are eligible because then you HAVE to accept coverage at whatever cost they determine. Personaly, I don't even want coverage and wish I could deny it altogether instead of being forced to pay $30-50 a month for crap I don't want. Employee treatment. They are one of the single biggest employer's around. I'm sure if you gave enought people the job of laying in bed watching tv while being hand fed pealed grapes, atleast one person would find something to complain about. With 1.3 million employees, do you honestly think or expect that they would be able to keep every single person estaticly happy. Even companies with only 100 people can't do that. Granted, there have been legimiate cases rasied in isolated events. There is no accounting for how the management of an individual store will act, and shouldn't automaticly reflect on the company on a whole. ALL companies have these problems. In the end, when you compare percentages, you find that Wal-Mart is no worse then most anyone else out there. Are they the best, no. Very few are. And most of them are in totaly different industries. There are many WORSE moral offenders out there then Wal-Mart. Take Tire's Plus. The one by me, all but the one person at the counter is an non-english speaking mexican. You honestly going to tell me there are no english speaking American's in this state that know how to change a tire? Of course there are. The problem is finding one that will work for minimum wage with no insurance. On the otherhand, everyone in my local Wal-Mart seems to be an english speaking American. Wouldn't be suprized if the tire guys in the autoshop there were the ones that used to work at Tire's Plus before they got replaced with cheap mexican labor. I guess Wal-mart is bad for that too, hiring Americans living in America to work in an America store located in America. And it's Wal-Mart's fault gas costs 8 zillion dollars a gallon, and why your brother Bobby broke his foot. And wasn't it Wal-Mart that hid your car keys in the couch. Simple truth is that Wal-Mart is an easy target because they are successfull, which saves everyone the trouble and effort of actually trying to make a difference by addressing the real problem companies out there that really are screwing over people. It's for this reason most people are tired of the groundless Wal-Mart bashing BS. Not that I'm any great fan of Wal-Mart. But like it or not, they simply arn't doing anything wrong. And before this gets any further off topic. Yes, EA sucks. 961309 The real issue isn't with Walmart. You have to peel a layer off the onion. Because Walmart is the largest business in this country, it is THE poster child for entire U.S. economy. So when we people say Walmart this or Walmart that, what they're really saying is the economy this or the economy that. Everyone knows that Walmart (and by Walmart, I really mean the U.S. economy) isn't breaking any laws. However whether "they" (i.e. the economy), as you say, are "doing anything wrong" or not is a moral issue which gets back to my previous post....

And still others believe in capitalism. From what I hear, China has room for those who don't. 961271 It's not about capitalism. It's about a level playing field. We here have little things like environmental regulations, anti-piracy regulations, etc, which FORCE us to produce things at a higher cost. From what I hear, China isn't too concerned about these types of things. So should we throw out our environmental laws and just say the hell with the environment? Have you seen pictures of Bejing? I have, and the people over there wear masks over their faces because the polution is so bad. Is this really what you want? The issue is way, way more complex than you make it out to be...

Neat idea. I think this must be an all time record for a controller made "on the cheap"!

Anyone know if Atari made a new batch of ROMs for these games, or did they just buy up Coleco's and Parker Bros' existing inventory and repackage them?

I think this question is much too ambiguous. The bottom line is ANY system can be hacked in to a handheld system given enough time and money. You could spin new PC boards, move logic in to FPGAs (or heck, even an ASIC if you just won the lottery!), etc, etc. I think you need to qualify the question with the amount of time and money you are willing to invest in it....
