  1. I've been thinking about ordering from that site, but need to save up, I always find more stuff every time I look
  2. Here is a fun thing to do, go to this guys listings and search his video games listings for the word "rare", make sure to click in title and description. When I just did it, guess how many of his 147 video game listings came up with "rare" in them?? Even his listing for 2 RF to coaxial TV adapters are "rare" Answer== all of them 147 out of 147
  3. I bought one awhile back and mine won't work down I think? Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. Yurkie gave me a set of instructions for taking them apart and cleaning them... When I find the time to do it, I plan to do a photo shoot of step by step along with the instructions...
  4. It sure is a pretty whole lot of nothing If you have a friend on your Live account who has played it too, it is supposed to unlock something...
  5. Honestly I don't know how many extra lives you can accumulate on Galaga. As Nukey mentioned pinball, last year I played Demolition Man for well over an hour on 50 cents, I kept getting free games. I had to turn it over to my friends boy friend as it was time to bowl and he lost all the credits in about 5 mins
  6. About 10 years ago I was taking some classes at a local community college, between classes a friend and I would go hang out in the Rec Center. Playing Pool, and some of the cabs they had. There was a Galaga cocktail near a bunch of couches and the pool table. We would see this one guy playing it from time to time always for long periods, normally from across the room. This time we were playing pool, gave him the normal nod, he gets up and leaves. We continue playing pool, yet we are hearing Galaga, which is weird as none of the games had attract mode turned on. We walked over to see what was up. The guy was at like level 60 and had tons of guys stacked up, so the game continued to play. One of us tried to play his game and we just died and died and died...
  7. They basically did the same crap with Battlefield Bad Company 2...
  8. I downloaded this as soon as I saw it was available. It is a nice mash up between old school NFS and Burnout, I think this will be pretty bad ass with multiple friends playing Cops and Robbers
  9. Agreed, I do what I can for my Little Brother, my single mom did what she could for me. So I feel the need to help
  10. I'll have to check with my cousin, I just remember meeting the guy and learning that he had worked at Atari. After doing some googling I found this http://www.atariprotos.com/5200/software/blackbelt/blackbelt.htm and an AA thread that says he did 5200 Super Breakout...
  11. Besides, there are some pretty nice Coleco games out there for the 2600. Venture is good, and so is DK Junior. Hell, 2600 DK isn't nearly as bad as a lot of 2600 games. Back in the day it was a bona fide hit. Oh I totally agree I only had a 2600 and played the crap out of DK, but I was also an arcade rat so it was a huge disappointment to me as were most arcade ports.
  12. No GroovBee I had not, but now I have... No love for Alan Moss Sr? I met him once, he moved to Oregon in the mid 80's, my cousin was friends with his kids.
  13. Silly question, in this day and age is there any database of the Atari, Coleco, INTV programmers?? I know that the INTV guys are pretty vocal and open online. I have seen a few sites that list some games and the programmers. I have not seen a definitive list that is accurate and proven to be the truth. It is 30 years and counting, memories are fading, documents are gone. Something needs to be done to clear up these urban legends, and give proper credit while it can still be established
  14. Tempest are you referring to the 8bit computer versions or the gawd awful NES version, that Nintendo in their infinite wisdom continues to churn out, even though they are not arcade accurate. I understand at the time the NES could not handle all the screens, but common the GB DK had what 101 levels? Why can't Nintendo give us decent home ports of DK and DK Jr all ready?? As far as Coleco sandbagging other ports to the 2600 and INTV I agree with Scogey, why would they care if it sucked on the other systems, they made money from the 2600 and INTV sales. Plus with the CV being the superior version at the time, it would in my opinion help CV sales. Rumors I have came across say Nintendo programmers in Japan, actually programmed the DK games so who knows. I wouldn't think they would intentionally put out crappy ports no matter which system...
  15. This weekend I finally played the INTV version of DK, looks like hell, but plays ok until you have to jump a barrel, I tried and tried unless I was standing still. The timing to jump one on the run is impossible
  16. So I am dying to know, what became of this? I am almost ready to call the guy and I live clear across the country. Did you take a look?
  17. I took the shell off, and using aerosol DexoIT(found it at the local mom and pop electronics supply store) sprayed the cart slot, let it sit a few minutes. Then took a business card folded in half and stuck it in the slot repeatedly. When the card was coming out dry, I then used a q-tip and ClassiClean to clean up the area and get any excess. Now every game fires up and plays, except 2 Boxing, and NASL Soccer. I have taken both carts apart after multiple cleanings, the circuit boards both look brand spanking new. I have even cleaned the contacts while apart. Both start up and show the Mattel copyright screen, sometimes Boxing will get to fighter selection(I got to play it once or twice if I wait long enough between attempts, but it always crashes) most of the time it just goes black?? NASL when you hit the button it goes solid green then orange then black. Anybody got any ideas on these two carts? Thanks

    Power Supply Help

Ok so I have a universal 800ma, multi Volt, but I can't find the strip of tips you USED to get with the universal wall warts at Radio Shack. FYI Radio Shack is now charging $7 a piece for individual tips. Anyhow I went to my local mom and pop electronics store and got a new strip of tips. I just fired up this light sixer. Works and plays fine, but all the switches are sticky. No biggie as this system is FILTHY so it needs to be torn down and cleaned. I just wanted to test it before I bothered Thanks for the help

    Power Supply Help

Simple question, I got a light sixer from a box of retro gaming stuff, but no power supply. I want to test the system. What is my best option? I know 9v dc 500ma, with 3.5mm + tip. I am not having any luck locally finding a 500ma power supply. Radio Shack has 800ma but I have read this will damage the 2600, they have 300ma and I have heard this will work? I looked at Best Electronics for an OEM, but they have a $20 minimum. I just want to test it, if it works I will probably display it on a shelf, but it would be nice to be able to play it. All the universal power supplies I have are 1000ma. What would my best option be? Thanks
  20. On my system, which was filthy when I got it, I had to clean the reset several times and then lube it with some graphite, otherwise it would only move slightly. It was stuck so far down that it was holding the reset. Now it moves freely and works great. Give that a try?
  21. I use ClassiClean and so far have only 2 games that I have not been able to get to work after cleaning, they were Coleco games for what it is worth... I like ClassiClean because you can use it on the carts, on the system, on the joysticks, everything. I have even used it to get sticker price gunk off a label and it did a pretty good job removing some sharpie on a label of a pretty valuable Genesis cart.
  22. Hi everyone, I recently got a Sears SVA in a box of misc retro gaming stuff and a bunch of carts(about 2 dozen). Only one or two of the carts worked after minor clean up. After about 3 hours of deep cleaning and testing and fussing, I got all the games working. Now that everything is back together, when I try to play games, some work, others I have to jiggle and slightly pull out to get to work. I even got the Intellivoice to work. I used ClassiClean to clean the carts and the cart slot. I've got some CAIG DeoxIT coming in the mail. Anyone got any suggestions? Is the cart slot busted? Is this typical for the Sears version? Will DeoxIT help? Thanks
  23. Umm I have only used craiglist once, but isn't he listing that for $1?? I have seen the up right once or twice in movie lobbies, probably the same one, just shuffled around. My concern would be that all of them I have played or seen the monitors are messed up, washed out colours and slight burn in.
  24. A couple of things, if you sell or list on GameGavel, you are more likely to sell to a collector, who will cherish the CIB stuff you mentioned. It hopefully won't go to someone who will hold it for awhile and relist it as !!!!RARE!!!! Also if you post in the forums here and at GG that you have the items up you will get people in the know, and whom probably frequent other forums and spread the word that way. Last Mike is a great guy, so let's help him out and grow GameGavel to be a great site for gamers to buy and sell, since we all have eBay nightmares
  25. Digital colour TV's even!! No more tuning with the dial
