  1. post-7074-1173681912_thumb.jpg

... filled with 12 (6x2) Mystique single enders, new in box...

    Cheers,

    Marco

    :lust:

What games are inside Marco? That looks like a display box more then a shipping box. Details? :)

It is a dealer display box indeed. All known Mystique / Playaround titles (except General Retreat / Westward Ho) are represented as single enders in there.

    Cheers,

    Marco

I thought that Playaround titles were all double-enders...

Are the single enders PAL only or something?

  2. I was thinking that it would be nice to know how many copies were numbered or released for these games published/sold outside the official releases for the 5200.

If you know how many, please chime in.

If I'm mistaken, of course, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  3. Hi Steve,

gambler172 made a limited run of 10 Travi carts (with a possible 2nd batch later). The first batch money was donated to IIRC some monks during gambler's last trip to Thailand. :)

And it is a bit misleading but, yes, the game is a hack of Gosub for the 2600, but with new mazes. It works like many 2600 games work on a 7800, but was programmed with batariBASIC originally. Here is the thread about it in the 7800 forum:

    http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=110303

As for a complete list of homebrews, hacks, etc. I am planning to make such a list and/or archive on my Globetrotter site, but I won't get to this until I get the next update of maps, photos, etc. uploaded for Trotter's latest travels. I am trying to get done by the end of February. Also, this will depend on how much space I still have on my webserver.

P.S. You can add Silver Trotter LE to said homebrew list, that I released last year. :)

So the Travi carts wouldn't be added to the homebrew list, as it's a hack. We'll put them there.

We'll add the Silver Trotter LE to the list - can you tell me what was included? Cart? Manual? Box? Were they limited, numbered, up to what number?

    Thanks,

    Steve

  4. This is not really lose to what you are looking for but here was my best attempt at a master homebrew list

    http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...l=homebrew+list

Dude - excellent start. Great work for sure. I knew this had to have been talked about before.

I've been working on a similar list in the 5200 thread, and it dawned on me to see about the 2600, but I figured I couldn't be the only one.

Are we pretty sure that the list is mostly complete?

I know there are a few new items missing from the list. Perhaps you can assist with filling in the gaps?

I agree that a hack list would be difficult, but like I said in my first post - if we limit it to those released in cart form, it could work.

Also, if it was released to ONE cart - that would be kind of stupid to include. There are a lot of people who could make a single cart, but that doesn't count.

I'm looking for games available in cart form, and made available to the public, even if it was only for a short time.

Like you, I'm also looking forward to working on a reproduction list of the carts made from prototypes (Bugs Bunny, Polo, etc.)

I think that lists like these would be great to have, especially since collecting for either (or both) would be a fun subset.

Conversions would be about as tough to do as reproductions, but can still be done.

    Let's do it!

I'm going to use your list as a starting point, and refine it, and add to it.

Anyone who can help fill in some blanks after I post, that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  5. Since I don't do roms (wouldn't even know where to start), I was curious about this.

The AA database is a great place to start for sure, but I have to believe that there are some folks here who already have this information. So, I thought I'd ask.

Is there a list which identifies all of the known US/NTSC released homebrews, including:

    1. What they originally came with (box, manual, etc)

    2. If they're still available for sale

    3. If they are still available for sale, how are they sold now (cart only?)

I just think that for those who are interested in collecting homebrews in cart form, that this would be extremely helpful.

    Especially #2.

I'm certainly not looking for people to start listing every homebrew they're aware of, rather I'm hoping some retentive collector (like myself) already has this information handy, and would be willing to post it here, for everyone to see.

If I had my way, I'd break it down like this:

    1. Reproductions

    2. Conversions

    3. Homebrews

    4. Hacks

Again, starting to make this from scratch would be quite daunting. So, hopefully some of the veterans would be willing to contribute.

I know that there are some here who have them all (or close enough), so please help out.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  6. *cough*Pac-Man Plus*cough*

    :D

This is why I've started the thread... :)

Was it just the cart, or did it come with anything?

Is it a hack or homebrew, or a conversion?

(And, where can I get one? :))

    Thanks,

    Steve

    :)

There was a small run of it a few years ago - cart only. Hack of Pac-Man. Rom is available in this thread

Also (don't know if this counts) I made a 'fixed' version of Pac-Man fixing the three bugs: 1) Speed increase on first apple instead of second (when starting on an earlier fruit), 2) correct number of flashes before turning back, and 3) The boards where the monsters are not supposed to turn blue at all, they stay blue forever. That was fixed. Rom is available in this thread

    Thanks!

    Bob :)

    Hmm...interesting.

I'll add the Pac-Man Plus to the Hacks section. It's a bummer that there aren't anymore carts for sale. I don't do emulators, so the roms don't help me much. :(

I don't know if I should include the 'fix' version of Pac-Man; but I will if it was available in cart form.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  7. Okay folks - thanks to some members with these lying around, and one insightful ebay link...

    I've gone from 5 to 63.

I need a lot more, but so far, appreciate the response!

    Keep 'em coming!!

    Thanks,

    Steve

  8. MULE is a conversion from the 400/800 version isn't it? And there was a black Boulderdash... 25 copies of each of the four colours.

I don't know about M.U.L.E. for sure, though I suspected it was a conversion.

Had no idea about the BoulderDash being available in black. Thanks for the info.

By the way, are the First Star Software releases considered conversions or homebrews?

    Thanks Mayhem!

    Steve

  9. Thanks to Allan for three new scans of Rally Speedway, Burtied Bucks and The Analog Collection.

  10. Atari2600.com sells Bristles for the 5200, and you can get Crystal Castles, Super Pac Man, Xevious, Jr Pac Man, Atlantis, Caverns of Mars, and Gateway to Apshai on cart as well from various places.

Adventure II came with a box, a key, a set of maps, a manual, and a manual.

Since you included Boulderdash in your list, I'm assuming you want the ports too? Not sure about anything else. Hope that helps.

Oops! I'll take those Boulder Dash carts out - they're not homebrews, but they're the only conversions I know of to get the "five star treatment" - label, box, manual...

    I'll remove them though.

Also, I believe that Crystal Castles, Super Pac-Man, Xevious and Jr. Pac-Man are reproductions (from 5200 prototypes.)

Atlantis, Caverns of Mars, and Gateway to Apshai are conversions from games available on other systems, but never intended for release on the 5200.

What I'm looking for are games strictly made by individuals for the 5200, long after it's production stopped.

I guarantee there are multiple people out there who have them all - so let's hear it!

    Thanks,

    Steve

  11. What I was looking for, was a complete list of the current carts made available for the 5200.

I've basically tried to identify them for a master list, and have broken them down like this:

    Official Releases

Test Carts (carts that aren't games, but exist anyway - diagnostic cart, Pete's test cart)

Reproductions (carts made from prototype roms)

Conversions (from games designed for other systems)

Homebrews (new games designed after the system stopped production)

Hacks (games made by altering original code)

Furthermore, it would be helpful to know what came with the game when it was released (box, manual, overlays, extras, etc).

    For example...

Haunted House II 3-D is a homebrew, and as far as I can tell came out in three iterations:

    1. Original black label, with manual only.

    2. Revised silver label, with box and manual.

    3. Revised black label, with name changed to "Scary Mansion II 3-D".

(BTW - if I'm incorrect on that, please let me know. I'm coming into this late in the game.)

Adventure II is a homebrew, and as far as I can tell, has 1 cart, but was sold in two ways:

    1. Cart only.

    2. Limited Edition - came with box, cart, manual, sticker, key...(not sure what else)

I believe that there are some knowledgeable people out there who can accurately answer these questions, and correct my lists if they have inaccuracies.

I've developed the lists from a "quilt" of infomation, but I don't know how accurate it is.

    All help is appreciated.

I'm not going to list the official releases or test carts, because those lists are already available here at atariage.com.

PLEASE DON'T GET UPSET OR OFFENDED (OR FLAME ME) IF I HAVE ANY OF THESE MISCLASSIFIED - THAT'S WHY I'M DOING THIS, SO I CAN GET THE LISTS RIGHT. :)

However, here are my lists, from what I can gather, for the other sections:

Reproductions (carts made from prototype roms):

  12. The reason I wanted the 4 port is because there are a few games that can't be played on the 2-port system.

    Otherwise, I wouldn't care.

It doesn't have to be new necessarily, as long as cosmetically, and useage-wise, it's in like new condition.

I just want one that is clean, not banged up at all, includes everything, and everything works.

    That's all.
