I thought Flip and Flop was actually a conversion.

It may be; I've been waiting for confirmation on Flip & Flop and Rent Wars for a while now (in a different thread), but haven't gotten an answer.

I think it's a conversion, and that Rent Wars is a homebrew.

    Can anyone confirm?

Also, I'm missing some Atari, Corp re-releases, so I'll add those as well.

    Thanks,

    Orri~

Rent Wars was an un-released 8-bit game converted to the 5200. They had it stored on disk some where since it was done back in the eighties.

    Allan

Thanks for the info guys - I'll move Rent Wars to the Conversion section then.

  3.

Although these include hacks and conversions. SSj Gogito asked for just prototypes and regular releases. Pitfalljones' site is great to. I think he has a list also with what each game is.

I'm not sure if the other Atari systems are complete though. I know of at least one that isn't.

  4. Got my hands on the "aluminum box" versions of Galaxian and Super Breakout in a crappy boxed lot I won.

The interesting thing is that the cart labels are different than the "non-aluminum" counterpart carts.

The "ATARI 5200" at the top is definitely bigger, and there is no "TM" to the left of the last "0" in the 5200.

    Just wanted to mention.

  5. This thread really puts things into perspective for me. I mean, are some Atari 2600 games really worth hounding some guy on his deathbed for? There are things more important in life and everyone should be happy with what they have and the minute you feel let down because some Atari collection goes into the dump or someone else's collection and not yours, you should get out of the hobby. I'm only speaking for myself when I say this but, I don't want people in the hobby that get emotional when things don't go as planned with a trade or sale, its just not worth it. Someone else beat you to the punch, oh well... I mean it has happened to all of us in our lives. Go out and make a difference. I have devoted my collecting to focus on instruction variations for the Atari 2600. It will take the strength of all the collectors in this hobby if it is to continue on past our own generations.

I agree with you......if I do not get this collection, that is fine with me. My thing is that I invested a lot of time talking to this guy and promises were made. Now t seems that there is a change of heart or something. All I ask is that you be straight with me and I will move on....that's it.....I don't like pressuring people into selling items.....I gave my offer and it was accepted.....now "things suddenly came up"....... So, it is like buying a car, the price was accepted and then when the paperwork is about to be signed, something suddenly came up????

Something I have learned in this hobby is to be PATIENT.....eventually you will get what you want (of course for the right price). Besides, I have better things to worry about, like my family. I spent most of my free time with my family and just go on the boards to buy items and answer PM's.

I think that you should be spending some of that free time of yours to finally show us some pics of your collection.

After all, we have ALL been PATIENT (as you say)... ;)

Thought that would get a laugh - but seriously, let's see it baby!

  6. While I agree that "mums the word" should have been the strategy, of course I can understand being excited and wanting to tell someone.

It's too bad that this kind of thing has happened to you Jose, it's pretty despicable in my opinion, since a simple (serious) pm to you could have worked things out in both of your favors.

What I'm most curious about, to be honest, is how did anyone find the seller in the first place? That's the part that I'm most interested in. If you were contacted by a "middle man", then I would be upset with that person if they contacted someone else.

Don't know the story, but would be interested. If you don't want to share that small part of it, I totally understand.

I wish you the best on the deal Jose - you're a super nice guy to deal with, and this would be a shame.

Everyone should stop with the "I'm interested in this title or that title", since it's irrelevant at this point.

    Best of luck!

    Orri~

  7. WIZ - I'm a little surprised, given some of our conversations.

LOL, no, you didn't get the joke. PBJ always goes around correcting people, I was correcting him. :P

    Okay - you're right, I didn't get it. :)

All I know is that he's made snide comments about my posts in three different threads.

Either I wronged him some time that I'm not aware of, or...

    I suppose he's just a douche. ;)

    I'm going with option B.

  8. What the hell is wrong with you guys?

This is the kind of crap that pisses people off.

I'm not some retard that just joined the forums yesterday.

The reason I posted "Anyone?" less than two hours (like that should matter), is because the item was sold, and I feared the thread would fade into obscurity.

God, does it really matter if it was a one word post or if it was less than two hours?

My main point is still valid. If you don't want to answer, then don't.

Pretentiousness is not helpful to anyone, and it ended up ruining the thread.

All three of you should know better, for as long as you've been here.

Be helpful, or just don't stick your nose in. It would have been easier that way.

Osbo - thanks for the info.

WIZ - I'm a little surprised, given some of our conversations.

PBJ & Niner - why even comment? Too much time on your hands?

    Jesus.

  9. Personally speaking, I tend to think that most American collectors are "list" driven. Not just for Atari, but most things.

There's a list of what's available, and that list has an "end" (irony is, there really isn't one.) So, with an end goal in mind, the typical US collector works to achieve the goal. In conjunction with this, there are many accessible lists of what is considered to have a "complete" collection. Also, for many systems, the number of games available in PAL format far exceeds the number available in NTSC format (or sold within the US, to further define a subset.)

I would imagine that most PAL collectors start with PAL games, and then incorporate games from other countries.

In contrast, many PAL collectors (for various systems) seem to just enjoy collecting for the sake of collecting; not necessarily driven by the list. So, it's not unusual to see non-US collectors incorporating everything into their collections.

This is just my opinion, but I think its a cultural thing.

I think this actually could be a GREAT explanation! Isn't it the same reason why you are so damn good in sports, economics, science etc. ?

    Cheers,

    Marco

Tough to tell just how much sarcasm is in your reply Marco...

All I meant is that my impression is that collectors from outside the US (including those who now live in the US) seem to be more laid back about collecting. US collectors tend to be more uptight about it; more retentive. I'm one of them, so I don't feel bad in saying that.

I didn't mean to say that "we're good because we have goals", and PAL collectors are bad because they don't.

The cultural component is just different, and it results in different approaches to collecting.

    Peace,

    Orri~

  10. Been awhile since I posted anything for sale, but here's what I have to offer for now

    Misc items:

4 Music Mate cubes $5 each

You'll probably want to PM orrimarrko about the Music Mates if you already haven't. He's looking for these in quantity.

I LOVE that people are looking out for me!

Yep, pm coming your way Ghost!

  11. Where in the production lifespan were the AV Computer System boxes released?

What was the progression of the boxes? (I'm sure someone knows.)

    Thanks,

    Steve

    1) Black banner boxes (1st ten games, Dragster - Kaboom!)

-Type 1: Evelyn Ave. address on back (Dragster has 2 versions, possibly Fishing Derby as well)

-Type 2: Scott Blvd. address on back

    2) ...Video Game System boxes

    3) ...Video Computer System boxes

    4) Barcode/alternate color (with or without barcode) boxes

Also, be sure that the address printed on the instruction book cooresponds with the address on the box.

    Aye Carumba!

Okay, so at least I know that the "colored" tv labels came in the 3rd generation boxes. Weird that they would do that, don't you think?

I would have assumed that they were 1st generation releases, considering the extra cost involved with the printing.

    Thanks again!

    Go Steelers!

    Go Pens! :)

Yeah its a bit confusing to say the least, hey what about the Pirates? :ahoy: :pirate:

LOL - just not a baseball fan. However, if I was... ;)

  12. I think the nationalism / patriotism thing has guided this thread in the wrong direction.

Let's forget that and let's see if we can get behind the fact that there appears to be an interesting distinction between people who primarily collect from their own country and people who collect from all over the world. Coincidentally (?), many US collectors belong to the former, and many European and Australian belong to the latter. While I can understand all arguments that have been raised for collecting stuff "that's around you" (familiarity, compatibility, shipping cost), they don't appear to count for many of the Euro and OZ collectors (save a couple that only collect PAL, beit from other PAL continents as well).

    I find that intriguing :)

    Cheers,

    Marco

I don't want to get flambéed for saying these things, again, it's just my observation.

  14. LOL! sorry Steve that you missed out on both of these...

I never got one, but I can't really complain because the person who made these didn't have to, so he is really generous for taking the time and effort to do so for those that did get one.

Yep, WIZ is the one that told me these were up for sale. I didn't get online until later this evening and missed them.

No worries. Just a bummer, that's all. ;)
