1. From a gamers point of view I like consoles better due to the following reason: (Also I was born in 1982)

    1. Takes 15 seconds to turn on the console and TV vs 3-4 min for computer to boot.

    2. Don't have to worry about patches for the older systems vs Emulators where OS patches and software patches and hardware patches that can leave the emulator dead or not working till patch can be made.

    3. Reliability . I own a Wii and PS3 for the newer systems but most system I own are10-20 years old with no system patches or OS changes or updated softwear hadrware ect.

    4. Actural seeing games and consoles/owning vs a list with pictures. I personal like to see games that my friends can actraul browse through and say lets play this or cool you have that.

    5. Saving energy average console use's about 9 volt AC/DC converter and about 15 watts with a crt of around 100-175 watts this is from my Sony trintron GDW FW 9000 VGA monitor 24"(94 pounds of pure viewing pleasure) . Computers use about 250-450 watts common HP and Dell computers. My computer uses about 800 watts and LCD of 80 watts for 22"

    6. You can only emulate so much. You lose man and mechine relationship like a man and his car.

7.Senses like stated above but a little different. If you have ever turned on a old monitor or been at a arcade you can actrual smell the mechines.

8.Controllers you can not emulate the Steel battlion controller

9.Playing games as they where made to be played. Save states and other emulator options due change the game play insted of the loses it all feeling or I can't belive I won feeling

    10. Human interactions like Atariage or video game stores or arcades or even at you own house and reason to get out of the house and blow some time.

I also use emulators for acrade game's and ect do to the fact I don't have room for acrtaul arcade machines : ( I think both have there use's

I also own a Dos/win9X/winxp computer that I have a bunch of game's for and you can't really emlutate the mouse and keyboard on video game consoles.

RANT: I hate how things have become now a days where consumer get ripped off by interactual property vs actraul owning property. Example of this is World of war carft where you actraul don't own anything and have no say on anything but you still have to pay to play or if an online sure there some free online games but if that game changes to the extreme like Star Wars galaxies you have no say. If they ever go offline you can't play it anymore Also I hate how everone talks online now vs being at the arcade and actraul have human interactions.

  2. Cool thanks for the heads up. I also noticed on couple of boot leg games that above the pins of the cart it will not say nintendo on the PCB or have the pressure markings on it on the game label like in this picture.

  4. There may have been tons and tons of copies produced, but when you are talking about the 2600 the question isn't how many were made but how many are still around in good shape. The fact that we collect them is the only reason they have value at all. If no one wanted them they would be trash.

The "shape" metric really should only be:

Does it still work in a console? Yes? No? Done.

Anything beyond that is superficial nuttiness. To a huge majority of the population they are trash. The only people who get all picky about the labels, or the condition of the case, or whether it has the box and manual, and the condition of those as well, etc. are people who've let their OCD and nostalgia compulsions create a self perceived "value".

I don't care how rare a video game is to find in the wild. These are NOT art pieces. There's no intrinsic value in their uniqueness, or creative output. They're cheaply mass produced consumer products that have been mostly destroyed or trashed by uninterested people who've moved on in their lives to other, newer forms of entertainment. They're only rare to find because they're disposable to most people.

This is why I love things like the Harmony cart, emulations software, and the Flashback consoles. Preserve the games of the past, without forcing normal consumers to have to compete with eBay addicts and rich nutballs with too much time and disposable cash on their hands.

Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings. The meaning of art is explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics, and even disciplines such as history and psychology analyze its relationship with humans and generations.

Fade to Black cover art (1995)
Panzer Dragoon (1995)
Pilgrim: Faith as a Weapon (1998)

  5. If I had a working SegaCD, I'd certainly be up for gyp, err... trading you for just about anything you have to trade.

Really Save? There is no way I would let my Sega CD go for any of those. Of coarse the Sega CD means more to me than most I guess. I do love my Sega CD.

I hope you get one Itchy, they are really pretty cool, don't let the downers bring you down man. They are very a very interesting part of gaming history and you can burn games for them, so you can play them without having to invest a crap top of cash.

Lol that was a x-mas gift from me ROFMAO atleast you have the Genny 2 and 32x : )

  8. Some cool info:

NAOMI (New Arcade Operation Machine Idea) also Japanese for beauty above all else.

Naomi has twice the amount of main memory and graphics memory that Dreamcast has, so ports from Naomi

to DC may involve more conversion time. Also note that the Naomi board has four times the sound memory of the Dreamcast,

    Youtube video:

    http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

I think there was something for everone on this system. Also the opions in the video's are not mine I really like all the dreamcast shooters.

  9. It's simply the best console to collect for with near perfect arcade ports do to the affordablity of the games and it being based off the Naomi hardwear that was used in many arcade machines at the time. Capcom vs games also used the Noami hardwear and CPS2 so there near perfect ports.

I personaly own over 100 dreacast games and its one of the few systems that still only offer great shooters like Mars matrix,Giga wing 1&2, Ikaruga and more. I think if your a guy looking for a mark up on the system in like 2 years your looking at the wrong system but if your more worried about actrual being able to find games and have fun with it than this systems for you. Still to this day I play my Dreamcast over any other system I own.

Rant: It's stupid that everyone thinks of rarity or value instead of having fun with the system. Whats the point of value if you enjoy it?

  10. On hold pending payment.

I think it said Windows CE.

Yeah I have one they are Windows CE but you can also run Android on it mine came with CE and I changed it to Android

I thought the biggest problem with these was the OS was intergrated with the system bios and finding a why to flash them.
