  1. Yep - definitely the best one in California Games (Surfing is good too though, BMX OK, and Footbag, well...). Can almost hum the Halfpipe theme music just thinking of it...
  2. Vindicators used to be one of my favourite games. Would be fantastic if they had made it, although fitting it all onto a small screen would have been tricky....
  3. Batman Returns is the worst game I have IMO. I don't actually think Hard Drivin' is that bad once you adjust for the control mechanism... but then I always liked the arcade. Find the bugs in Sweek very irritating BTW. And for some reason I never found Turbo Sub particularly enjoyable, although it isn't directly bad.
  4. So what's the game like? How does it compare to, say, California Games?
  5. I really like Warbirds and Slimworld. Xenophobe and Checkered Flag aren't bad either, and all these 4 games are great networked :-)
  6. ..Has to be said though, even though Batman was written in 1992, it was still pretty shite. Just compare it to previous Lynx classics like Slimeworld or Xenophone.... And I remember playing fantastic sideways scrolling action games on my 8-bit home PC in the 1980's (remember "Gryzor" or "Renegade" on the 8-bit PC's like the Spectrum , Amstrad and C64? Or Hewson's "Nebulous"... hmm... ..and Codemasters' "Dizzy" series..)? Many of the later Lynx games were very disappointing IMHO. Of course there were the ocassional exceptions, like Warbirds, and Lemmings, and much of the stuff from Handmade Software. And Steel Talons isn't that bad either. But on the whole the later games just do not feel as polished as first couple of years' titles... like Slimeworld, Xenophobe, California Games, Chips Challenge, Gauntlet, Klax, Checkered Flag, Rygar, Roadblasters etc. It may just be an impression of course. But even if the early games disappointed they still felt like something that was worked at, or even crafted. I still haven't gotten past the first level in Batman and simply have no ambition too... I was trying out Switchblade 2, and thats pretty poor too (better than Batman though). And I just tried out World Class Soccer on the "Handy" emulator and couldn't believe quite how bad it was. What's the frame rate on that meant to be?
  7. My Lynx's seem to be showing me the "Insert Game" screen quite frequently now, especially with some of my older games like APB and Zarlor Mercenary, and some of my copies of Slimeworld and Warbirds. As the problem seems to be related to certain cartridges, how do I clean the copper connectors on them without ruining the cart? Is Brasso a good idea? Thank you! PS I've taken to storing most of my games in an airt tight container now - although the copper still looks orange and shiny, there must I suppose be a thin film of oxidised copper that has formed over the top (no green yet though!) :-)
  8. So this game is defnitiely comlynx-able? Any idea how many players it supports? Thank you!
  9. What's Joust like as a multiplayer game? Thank you!
  10. I want Vindicators too... Must be Comlynx-able though. Put me down for 2 carts... :-)
  11. There are usually a few broken Lynx's on ebay.... i.e. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=38597
  12. Cheer up and spend the next $10 more wisely. Chips Challenge, Warbirds, Klax, Slimeworld, Lemmings are all excellent IMO. And California Games is rather amusing too - that intro music always brings back old memories of the Lynx for me. Maybe I'll record it and use it as a ring tone.....
  13. I must be a little weird in actually quite liking Hard Drivin' - I like the way it allows you to screw up in so many different ways. And you need to concentrate very hard on your speed, steering etc. but its not too bad - I can get a couple of laps in on the speed track before the time runs out. The stunt track is *very* hard indeed because it requires even more precision. But I do agree Batman is utter rubbish. Very dull sideways scrolling game - never even completed the first level it was so dull. Think I have a couple of carts of it, people keep giving it away free with things, its that good....
  14. Was just day-dreaming.. If Atari want a positive economic return, I'm sure a small co like Songbird has much smaller operating costs and a larger Lynx following than Atari, and being one of the few outfits in the world still able to produce Lynx games, could make it profitable. Surely Songbird (or similar) could licence the game from Atari, obtain the code and offer to publish the games with a $5-$10 profit share per game sold to Atari - hence no risk for Atari, and they're likely to make a small amount of money - it may only be a couple $1000, but it would be very little effort for them (signing over the licence) and beyond that no cost, and no risk. Surely that would sound like an attractive proposition for Atari? But would Songbird etc. be in a position to make that kind of offer?
