IEEE-488 card with TMS9914A controller
Ksarul replied to FarmerPotato's topic in TI-99/4A Development
The main differences between the two versions were the type of EPROM chip used, IIRC from my work to redo the schematics, both are in the schematics thread, but here they are again. A3-IEEE-488-P1b.pdf A3-IEEE-488-P2b.pdf -
TI-99 - DOCs, Manuals, eBooks, Lost & Found
Ksarul replied to Schmitzi's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I have to look--I may have it, as I bought most of the Asgard catalog BITD. -
GATB was always an interesting idea. Unfortunately, it never went too far (and the current compiler from @senior_falcon goes a lot farther than it ever did).

I have only seen one or two of the display cases that survived. ISellHomesZach tried to sell me the one that came from the Dhein's True Value Hardware Store a few years ago, but his price was about ten times what I was willing to pay.

Here's a nice set of HCM magazines--and it does include the somewhat HTF V5N6.

As 2020 comes to a close what were your TI highlights?
Ksarul replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
That looks like fun. . .my highlight of the year was getting the HRD4000B production ready and into production. Well, getting the Dimension 4 back in January was really good too. . . -
One wonders if any of those cartridges or laser discs survive. . .but the fact that recruitment centers had them actually helps explain the somewhat large (relative to the p-Code box) number of survivors. The military doesn't always just trash stuff when they are done with it, they sell it as surplus, so the survival rate is higher. Businesses often just write things off and drop it into a dumpster.

Does anyone have the three Atronic DSR ROMS that were pointed to early in this thread? I don't seem to have archived them and the links are dead now. I do have the schematics that @Schmitzi provided though. I will add them to the list of schematics I need to update to an editable format. . .

The Stackpole keyboards are actually quite reliable--and it is a snap to clean the contacts in them if they do get dirty and start to double trip or not trip at all. If you find one with all the key caps, it will last a very long time. . .

It can definitely be dangerous, such services were pivotal in my quest to complete a collection of Tomy Pyuuta items (and are still really handy in my attempts to complete a collection of 99/4 items released in Japan). I have found a few items there (some literature and a monitor with Japanese text for the controls), but the hunt definitely continues.

TI-99 - DOCs, Manuals, eBooks, Lost & Found
Ksarul replied to Schmitzi's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Note that @FALCOR4 recently updated this program to turn it into a 32K cartridge image. He can chime in to identify which of the other issues may have been eliminated by the update. -
I've never seen a p-Code PEB card without the switch, but the sidecar version always grabs the system on startup (you then have to eXit to get to normal TI mode).

Take care of those family needs first. This is a hobby--it can wait. You have friends here rooting for you and we are generally patient folks, so however long you need to delay is fine by me. Please be careful! Your family needs your strength.

Here is a link to the socket. . .these are live-bug sockets (put chip in just like you would on the board) as opposed to these (which also work) but which are dead-bug (chip is upside down).

I may still have some older MDOS disks lurking about. I think my machine was delivered with 1.04, I had a copy of 1.00 at one point in time, and I had several other variants between 1.04 and 1.14. I also have 0.97H floating around, as that was the first version that supported hard disks. . .

Eprom simulator and the Tutor
Ksarul replied to Mobsie's topic in Tomy Tutor, CC40, 99/2, 99/8, Cortex, 990 mini
I like this. . .does it work with the 3D cartridge ROMs as well? Note that they use an address line that is only present on the rear port, so one of the game adaptors (or a homebrew equivalent) is needed. -
Go to the second tab--you can download each of the thing files individually from there. I just did that about five minutes ago. The zip with all of them in it seems to have issues. . .

I'll look in my box-o-chips to see if I have any of these. . .

TI BASIC/TI EXTENDED BASIC Games that are worth to be compiled...
Ksarul replied to tmop69's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
That makes sense, as the compiler is expecting to use Integer math. . .not Floating Point. -
I use Buyee for things like this. They have been very reliable over the eight years or so that I've used their services.

Note, the shipping on this auction is from Japan, so it is still over there. This is more someone trying to make a serious profit on an item he bought (or failed to sell in Japan). The Yahoo! price is 15000 yen, as it is still in an ongoing auction there. That's less than $150, $225 if you add worst case shipping, which is way below his $499 ask on eBay. . .so the seller is definitely trying to make a seriously quick buck on something that isn't selling too fast in Japan.
-
That definitely looks like the one from Yahoo! Japan. Confirmed from my serial number archive.

Thanks for the heads-up!

im having problems getting atlantis basic game to work
Ksarul replied to xxx's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
There was a lot of discussion on this one a few years back. The game uses so much memory that it won't run from a disk system at all IIRC, at least not with some serious modifications. I believe that the guys who were working to change that dependency did finally get a working version, but I'm not sure. I think the thread was called "Raising Atlantis"
