AEMS (and its descendent, SAMS) used 4K banks when switching. This follows the memory management concept TI intended to be used for the 74LS612. The 1M board has 256 4K banks (using the 8 standard selection bits). To extend beyond that, one has to build in support for one or more of the four high-order bits in the 74LS612, allowing expansion to a maximum of 16M (4,000 4K banks). Note that the 74LS612 mapper only allows visibility to a total of 32K at any one point in time (8 Banks).

For a more complete note on VDPs and the TI computers: The TI-99/4 (1979-1981) used the TMS9918, and was only released as an NTSC machine. The TI-99/4A (1981-1984) used the TMS9918A in NTSC land and the 9928A/9929A pretty much everywhere else. There were also mods for the NTSC machines to replace the video chip with a 9928A to get RGB capability. The TI-99/8 used the TMS9118, as did the Tomy Pyuuta/Tutor line. The Powertran Cortex could use the 9918A, 9928A, or the 9929A, IIRC.

Looks like I missed the invasion of the stupid person. . .but I did have a lot of fun for the two hours that I was able to be present. -
Hmmmmmmm. . [email protected] using ROS 8.38. Coincidence? LOLOL

I like the idea of a boxed three-fer set!

Here you go, not too pricey either. I think I may even have bought from this seller once or twice. . .

Keyboard cats can be a good thing. All we need to do is teach them to code. . . -
Oooohhhh! More SAMS software. . .I like it.

"Sleeper" TI-Games (already in .BIN format)

The file here probably has the loader and code added to make the program run out of the 32K space. . . -
There is a version ported to the Atari 2600 as well. . .I bought one of the cartridges as soon as they became available to add to @iliketurtles collection of console games.

Has there been any additional progress on this one? Everything so far is looking interesting. . .

Have you asked Mr. Ferluga what commands he was using to try and print? He noted that his Centronics interface works. . .it could be something as simple as LIST "PIO". Centronics interfaces are basically dumb. They have parallel data lines and a few control lines to manage data flow and that's it. The printer takes the input characters and processes them (prints printable characters and executes control characters). When printing graphics, the printer switches to graphics mode based on the control code and goes from there. If the software sending the data doesn't use the right codes, data ends up looking like garbage in the printout, but that's about all that can happen.

That one is Michael Becker's work, Dan. His Hex-Bus interface is just as clean! About the only other person I've seen that makes wire-wrap look that beautiful is @fabrice montupet

My wife keeps trying to make all of them disappear--she has no sense when it comes to having plenty of research and recreational reading material handy. . .

I am pretty sure I still have a manual for the card, as I bought a card NOS from the Dhein's hoard a few years ago (along with a copy of Myarc XB-II). I'll try to pull it out and scan it in.

There are several TI-99 bumper stickers out there, and I think I've seen at least one pen. I also have a fantastic TI keychain (made of titanium). For those who go a bit further afield, there are also the longevity pins TI presented to employees. They make great starter conversation pieces when attached to the lapel of a suit.

You obviously haven't seen my basement--now that is an enormous quantity of books (I think I have about 20-25 thousand of them).

IIRC, a lot of the Scott Foresman cartridges were made that way, as were a lot of the earlier TI application cartridges. -
You might want to talk to Richard Bell (Swim). He might still have a few of the boards, as he is the current owner of the Myarc IP.

Here's a nice, crispy label for you. . .

I hadn't ever seen a parallel version of the interface in the wild. Have you tried to connect it to any other Centronics printers? Most of them used identical signalling (there were sometimes minor differences, but most of them fit into one or two broadly compatible groups). Then you can just try to print and see what happens. . .

Nice!

Those masks would be perfect if this year's Chicago Faire comes to pass. . .

I resemble that remark. . .and now to find the store that has a fire sale selling all of those "damaged" dice. A good gamer NEVER has too many d6. . .
