  1. Actually, quite a few of them made it as far as being full machines, although that is a relative term. I have read that the total was in the range of 150 fully assembled machines, and my two fit into that range--I have serial number 80 and serial number 135. Both have the pSystem installed, although there is a problem with the copy installed on S/N 80 that I haven't tracked down yet. I also have the pSystem disks for the 99/8. It used V4.11, not V4.0 as in the /4A. I've scanned most of the documentation for it and put it up on WHTech, I'm still missing a few of the internal engineering documents, but not many. Several interesting 99/8 only PEB cards exist as well: 128K memory cards, 512K memory cards (I have one of each), and an RS232 card with a modified DSR. It was a nice machine, but it never made it into full production before they pulled the plug. I've also got a couple of partially populated motherboards with serial numbers in the 250-350 range, though these were never installed in cases, and most of the daughter boards are missing. They appear to have been used as parts mines over the years. . .as several 99/8 chips exist only on those boards.
  2. Here is some fun for the day, as I finally got a chance to finish assembly on the rest of the cards from the original batch made before we moved on to the design with the GAL instead of the 74LS379. . .
  3. Actually, you might want to take the code from one of the old Funware carts apart and see how they got around the issue--they didn't have GROMs, but they did work on a V2.2 console. . .much to TI's dismay.
  4. An Editor Assembler with 8K of RAM, possibly more. There were kits to do this modification available for a long time--or you could buy one ready-made from DataBioTics (Super Space) or Pilgrim's Pride (6000+ Module).
  5. I'm waiting semi-patiently for the boards to show up from ExpressPCB. . .then the real fun will begin
  6. The boards were manually routed, Willsy. I put the basic design elements into my head and do the auto-routing there, as I seem to be able to do a reasonably good job of it that way. I did put in an order for a small number of boards using the revision 8J template Jon put up, as it is pretty much the final revision unless we discover any problems with this proto run. I'll have the boards in hand by the end of the month, though I may not be able to do much with them until September, as August is pretty busy for me this year due to work/family commitments.
  7. I like this thread/game concept. Thanks for taking the time to program it!
  8. My ex would sit and play MunchMobile for days on end. Video Vegas was probably the worst game I ever saw for the TI. Not because it was a bad implementation, but because it just didn't do all that much.
  9. I like the second style better--it brings more of the game flair with it. . .
  10. I did get a good deal on the "F" chips--I got about 2500 of them for less than a quarter each. That should be enough to make a LOT of cartridges. <LOL> I've also made a lot of updates to the board itself in response to suggestions and requests from Jon and Tursi. I still need to know whether or not the position I moved one of Tursi's caps to is good though--as that will let me do a short run of boards with all of his needs incorporated. I also have a goodly number of the necessary GALs on their way. Now I just have to figure out if my hardware will let me program the 1284s. . .
  11. Excellent thread here. I had a lot of fun making those parts fit on the cart board--and changing out the 74LS379 with a GAL is a really good idea which I will now incorporate in the next board revision. It also clears up some more real estate on the board to make routing easier by using the PLCC version, so I plan to go with that. More to follow as I get the changes incorporated.
