  1. They always seemed to be mixed together in the stores too, back in the day, so the fact that these are mixed is no surprise. PEBs didn't sell all that well at first, so stocks built up until TI came out with a really nice deal that got you a PEB with 32K, RS-232, Disk Controller+Disk, and a Logo, E/A, TI Writer, or Microsoft Multiplan set for something like $300 or $400. It was one of the last pre-Black Friday attempts to jump start the market. That was when I switched from sidecar peripherals to my first PEB. I bought it at a K-Mart. . .
  2. Mr Gonker, you might just want to open up your console and remove the gunk-filled felt in the cartridge port if you haven't already--it is probably the cause of your problem. . .
  3. Unicorn Electronics is your friend when it comes to small-volume orders. They have a low minimum order size ($25 before shipping) and a very wide selection of parts at more-or-less reasonable prices. I only say more-or-less due to the fact that the prices are higher for low-volume stuff--their quantity prices are usually pretty good.
  4. Which package was it? I have bought a number of things from him (and the guy who bought the other half of the old Dhein's trove) and the only package that was missing anything was the Myarc Extended BASIC IV package. That one listed the EPROM for the 128K card as part of the package, but it wasn't in the box because the ones shipped to Dhein's had the memory card as part of the package, so the chip was already installed in one of the cards. I resolved that one by buying a complete set from the other seller (Fiftiesfanfromiowa), since that was where I originally bought the XB IV package. The seller didn't know that the chip wouldn't be in the box, so it was no foul on their part.
  5. That is one beautiful label there--many thanks for taking it on, OLD CS1!!! I will definitely make some of these. . .
  6. I like the purplish one too. . .
  7. But it is beautiful--the muted orange is a perfect counterpoint to the TI black. Thank you for doing it--I may have to make a page of these just to see what they end up looking like!
  8. I actually like the mutant orange one a lot, Gazoo. Switch to a solid black version of the solid white TI Emblem you had on the red label and it would be outstanding. . .
  9. I like it--but in following the update on an older theme, wouldn't it be more appropriate as a blue square on the left? Red was for the games. Once I get the finished labels back, I'll have a bunch of additional files to add to this thread as well (I want to make sure they come out right before uploading them).
  10. BTW, if you look at the little square plate next to the power cable on the newer PEBs, you will find out something interesting if you actually open it up--it is also the fuse holder. . .so there is an external fuse in addition to that fusible link in the middle of the transformer. Its normal function is to change the input voltage, but it is also the fuse.
  11. Is it possible: yes. Is it really easy: no. TI tended to go into overdesign mode when they engineered things--they tended to default to something that would pass MILSPEC requirements. . .
  12. Try Catlib, Jean Louis. That one will make a master catalog of as many disks as you feed it, and gives you the option of adding comments for each program.
  13. UberGROM boards have a pair of jumpers on the cartridge Reset line to make it really easy to put a reset switch in place--there are also pads there to hard wire one if that is how you want to go about it. . .
  14. Wasn't there a whole thread on this one a couple of years ago? Infernal Keith was trying to get a functional copy of it, IIRC. . .
  15. I got one of Acadiel's cartridge shells printed at Shapeways (top and bottom together come to about $50). Now I'll need to try to make a set of molds with it. This one is the one with the necessary reinforcement on the protective strip in the cartridge bay. I'll try and put up a picture sometime this weekend.
  16. Welcome to the forum! I'm always happy to see another TI owner here! We keep pretty busy here, with lots of software and hardware in active development--so your skills will be welcome wherever you want to apply them.
  17. And once the tests on the HyperAMS boards are done (assuming they work right), an AMS board will be available again. If that design doesn't pan out, I'll still make a run of the regular AMS boards. . .
  18. Any program for the Supercart should load itself into that space, similar to what 4A DOS did. To load things into any bank, select it with the switches and load--then it will be there if it is for the Supercart. The switches are the bank selectors--you will only see a bank if it is selected.
  19. That is only the second cartridge I have ever seen with that type of circuit card. It is a very good find. This was the direction TI was moving with their cartridges at the end--the other cartridge board I've seen assembled this way was The Attack. Bryan Ropollo has that one. IIRC, his was on a standard-sized board, so this board is interesting in that right too, as it looks like it was designed for a different case. . .possibly one shaped a bit like the Atarisoft cases, based on the three case cutouts.
  20. Rich, the odd thing is, it IS reading the whole line, otherwise it wouldn't come up with the correct result of all of the addition that is going on in that line. The only way for it to come up with 106 for the answer is if it reads all 106 instances of A=A+1 There is something fishy going on with the crunch buffer here. . .as it isn't responding the way you would expect it to.
  21. Gazoo is the only one other than Tursi with the skills to build an UberGROM image at the moment. Tursi's been working on a loader that makes the process a lot easier, but life has been getting in the way on completing that project--something that often happens to all of us.
  22. And here's a copy of the UberGROM manual, which still needs to be updated with all of the interesting tidbits in the 512K cartridge threads. 512K ROM-GROM Cartridge Board Manual V0.8.doc
  23. As soon as I build some more of them, Gary. I've got enough boards to last me a while--and all of the parts needed to populate a few hundred of the boards as pictured. My personal goal is to make sure that a wide range of TI hardware remains in stock and available to the community for as long as I can reasonably keep it going (from an economical standpoint).
  24. Correct, it is a tantalum capacitor. Here's a tutorial on the type being used: http://www.learningaboutelectronics.com/Articles/How-to-read-a-tantalum-capacitor.php Some of them really do have positive leads. . . Note that any 104-type capacitor of 50V or less will do in the .1uF slot for the other capacitor. . .
