  1.

I have an idea for a game... but I don't know anything about 2600 programming :(

But do you have any programming knowledge at all? If you already have solid knowledge of any other kind of programming (game programming would be even better, of course), learning a new language for a new platform is much easier, because you already know the basic concepts.

If you don't have any programming knowledge, I have to tell you that starting with the 2600 will be tough, even with batari Basic. But if you are really up for the task, that would probably be the best way to start.

I have a Mac OSX and a Windows XP on Parralels Desktop, so do atari 2600 programming tools exist on mac?

I'm not sure how you can run batari Basic on a Mac, but if you decide to program in good old assembly, all you need is a 6502 assembler and a 2600 emulator, and I'm sure you can find something that will work on a Mac.

  3. Kool-Aid Man has two issues that I know of:

A pause control that's *always* active (not just during play) on the left difficulty switch, which makes the game freeze with scrambled sprites at power-on if paused, and

A bug that makes it not work right on some consoles (constantly detecting collisions during play when there are none).

it's the second glitch that is happening to me

  4. I just got a pair of Keyboard Controllers (In their box) for a great deal on eBay.

Right know, I don't have any games that are compatible with them. How can I be sure they work?

None of the used game stores near me stock Keyboard games, except for a store called Dusty Pixels that sells Star Raiders. (I think you can substitute the Keyboards with the Touchpads)

If you have any compatible games you can sell or contribute, tell me.

You can get Keyboard games easily on EBay.

You should get a copy of codebreaker, it's one of the better Keyboard Games

  5. Here's a zip with NTSC to PAL Conversions of the follwing games:

    - The A-Team

    - Bloody Human Freeway

    - Cakewalk

    - Cat Trax

    - Cosmic Commuter

    - Crash Dive

    - Ixion

    - Kool-Aid Man

    - Krull

    - Montezuma's Revenge

    - Quadrun

    - Shootin' Arcade

    - Unkown Activision game 1+2

There should be more out there but that's all i found on my HD so far...

Thanks, but Kool aid man doesn't work

  6. I guess NTSC games do not work on a PAL TV that is not able to sync to 60 Hz meaning all 80s old PAL TVs?

And yes, colours are wrong so you have to hack the game and change the values or even the code itself depending on how the colour are generated - sometimes not an easy task for a person without practical skills.

Can you tell me how to hack them?
