Has anyone tried a source based Linux distro like Gento or its forks yet? (I use Calculate Linux which is a fork of Gentoo. There I have a choice of using precompiled apps, using the install scripts to compile the apps, or a mixture of both)
-
1. Do you use Linux?
2. If you do, what distro?
3. Do you emulate the TI under Linux?
My answers:
1. Yes
2. Gentoo (mainly) and Ubuntu.
3. Yes, the java based v9t9 and dosbox for pc99. Havent used MESS under Linux as yet.

A couple of questions....
1. Do you use your TI for "real" world applications? (do you use it in your work?)
2. What computers do you use in your work? (Mac or PC?)
3. Desktop, laptop/notebook or tablet?
My answers:
1. Do not have a TI
2. Mac and PC
3. Desktop for serious GIS and Image analysis, MacBook for lighter GIS work, Laptop for Linux experimentation, and tablet for mobility.

It's a pity that ipboard doesnt have the functionality of showing an ip address. Would have been fun to see which country TI-Sissy comes from. By the way the rollercoaster pic is also all over the net

We were three kids that owned TI's. I had Mini Memory, TEII, Munchman, Parsec, the Speech Synth and a lot of books. The one other kid had XB and the Expansion Box and Joysticks. A lot of kids had ZX81's and a couple had Spectrums. A couple had VIC20's and the rich kids hat C64's.
A friend of mine's father worked at one of the first Computer companies in South Africa that had access to mainframes, and minis. The father worked on a 990, and gave me a mini computer that dated from the 70's that had a master unit, which you loaded the OS from a tape. It had a 10MB hard drive (one of those old disc pack things that looked like a washing machine). There was only a database on it. (Was used for customer records in a clothing franchise). There was also a slave terminal that was attached to the Master. This father also gave me training material for the 990, that included some tapes, and four books that covered 990 assembly language, and high level languages like COBOL and BASIC AND PASCAL, as well as how to program the front panel of the 990, as well as to how to type your code on a punch card. These I still have (31 years later).
I liked to use the C64, but did not like programming on the Spectrum due to your inability to "type" in a program, but had to use combinations of keys to get a command in your program.
The only thing I liked about the Speccy was the "waftertape"
Our church had a Spectrum QL, which I also liked.

Much obliged!!

Gee Dano!!!!
What a nice post to read first thing in the morning!! I will pm you later if thats ok!! I have looked on whtech for a power supply manual, but could only find an addendum. Does anyone have technical specs? If I take up Dano's offer, I probably would have to get a step-up transformer as well. Dano, where are you located?

Thanks guys, now I only have to source a TI, and preferably someone that will ship to South Africa

Hi guys
Need some help here.
I live in South Africa, and got my beige TI in 82/83. Our systems had a sort of adapter that let you plug in the machine into an tv using coax. You could also plug in a VCR into the same adapter. Was this an RF modulator? I know we could also plug in the TI in a monitor, but cant remember if we had an adapter for it. How was conversion to PAL done? I think I have read here that there was a different chip in the TI.
As we are using 220V I know we used different power adapters. These were TI branded.
Were these likely European models?
What would the revision number most likely be? 2.2?
Any help would be appreciated.
PS, I shouldnt have sold my machine in 1993....DAMN. It is hard to find them here (make that impossible!!!!!!)

Point taken. I actually enjoyed the vids. Was just nitpicking

The best is this:
"About the shipments, i think that ship all those items is a great task, and right now I don’t know how much it will cost, but I have a parent that send container all over the world frequently, so I can use his experience to do a proper work..."
How old do you yhink he/she is?
I wonder how long this was on ebay before the auction ended.
-
Nevermind the cost, I wonder how much everything weighs.
-
Look at this!!!!!
Anyone want this?
Attached is the games list.
