  1. No reason to wreck a vintage game for a converter that costs $18 on tototek.com.
  2. New video about the officially published dojin game Final Crisis.
  3. The FM Towns Marty has that nice generic quintessential 90's CD console look. Nothing stands out but it's not poorly designed either. It harkens back to a time I feel very familiar with. I love that, and that's why the console is the background of our logo for our Youtube channel and Twitter feed.
  4. Component just isn't good enough for an HDTV because it's still a basic SD signal. You need an upscaler.
  5. Flat screens are picky. I don't know how well it performs on a non-CRT. It's not a matter of watts. You just need a stable power source of the correct voltage. I modded mine for 5v by ripping out the voltage regulator. If I can get my Trinitron modded for RGB, then this is all moot.
  6. You should only use this converter for a CRT. Flat screens need an RGB upscaler. You also must replace the power supply with it, as the one that comes with it is utter garbage.
  7. The Duo. It's flimsy and wears out easily. The lens, not to mention the caps.
  8. Sure PC Engine can do that. And what size card were they planning to release this on in 1992? The realities of the game market at the time matter.
  9. I think all the carts got pulled from ebay now. Have to go on etsy. Thanks NE146. The soldering isn't quite as bad as it looks in the video. I tried to give just a broad overview, because there seems to be more differences than I can mention. The Cutting Room Floor or someone will probably come up with a more comprehensive list eventually.
  10. Thanks to the SNES Classic I just went through the process of updating my Star Fox 2 repro cart and documented the video below. I also show the differences between the beta and final versions. I think the final version of the game is really nice!

    My 7800 HDMI mod

Can we say this is a true HDMI mod? It's a built-in upscaler using the S-video signal, correct?
  12. Not likely, but the Switch will do well regardless. The Switch has a real chance of selling more software than the Wii (since less units will be bought by seniors with no intention of buying more games).
  13. Not only is this cute, you pack the videos with information too. You got a subscriber.
  14. Scart is the way to go. Use a Scart to component converter for consumer CRT's. And a Framemeister for modern TV's. I currently don't use any switcher.
  15. If I'd watched more of the videos before the game was released, then I'd have known not to expect new stages. Instead I watched only a couple of the early reveal videos, and decided to keep the rest of the game a surprise. When I played the game, I was disappointed each time a I reached another reused stage. I would have liked to see more Press Gardens, etc. I know the stages are rearranged, and there are new spins on everything, but I mean if I really want to play Chemical Plant again, I'll get out Sonic 2. This game cashes in on nostalgia without providing enough freshness.
  16. My brother has been making a new Youtube series this summer focusing on the PC-88 computer series. Each episode a different game is the focus, with an upcoming hardware profile episode planned. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_W1EM66_BrsEBTR_3j88uozi1xP_kLYz
  17. I played a lot of 2000 and Space Giraffe, but not 3000. I should give 4000 a go.
  18. Too many of the initial reviews were nerdgasms. So we made this video as our answer to those:
  19. So "retro personality" is causing all of the SNES preorder and Sonic Mania vids. Makes sense the way you put it.
  20. You'll get an AV mod. I reccomend RGB. You might also want to mod in control ports.
