This whole affair is a distortion of what the average person thinks. How many people have you seen complaining who mention that they've even played the game? I'm sure there is a large amount of people amplifying the anger online who haven't even bothered to try it. Probably just discouraged from buying/playing from the negative buzz, and feeling dismayed about it.
It was all probably started by some kids disappointed that the game didn't live up to the impossible hype. The internet is very good at finding drama where there isn't any.

I find it very ironic that Cyberpunk 2077 fans are defending CDPR to the teeth despite the entire franchise being about the dangers of unethical corporations. CDPR deliberately hid the poor performance of the PS4 and XBONE versions via review embargos and lack of screenshots and videos before release. No amount of forum shilling and desperate coping is going to take back the fact that their stock has lost almost half of it's value since the start of the month and investors have started a class action lawsuit over the lies and misrepresentation.
Gamers aren't mad about the buggy performance as much as they are mad about the fact that CDPR overpromised and wayyyy underdelivered. And then tried to keep that fact a secret until after people forked their cash over.
If they were trying to hide the problems with the last gen versions, then how does this article acknowledging the issue exist from before the game was released?

In my PS2 days I originally had a Japanese console, then later replaced with a chipped US slim console, which I bought on ebay pre-modded new in the box. A chipped console can't cost that much now, can it?

You meant SMB2, right? SMB3 wasn't out in the West until 1990.
I rented Zelda 2 in '89, and bought it probably in 1990. I always regarded it as a worthy sequel. The NES sequels that were different from the first (SMB2, Castlevania 2) were truly special.

Also, this wiki is a great resource for general hardware info.

You're blaming an online forum and not the quality of the product?

The only reason it's not there now is that I haven't seen if they ruin the story yet, since I'm sticking more to the wide range of side-quests. It's a shame that I'm hearing negative things about some of the console versions. I'm hearing very good things from pc and ps5 players, despite it being pulled from psn..
Throw Series X on the pile of issue-free platforms too. I haven't played it real far into the Keanu part yet (playing AC Valhalla now instead) but I've had no issues.

And them ban them from their forums for poking fun at their irrational hatred of the new SNK device.
Old SNK fans are 40+ years old. Most of them have better things to do than start a mob on Twitter. Most of them aren't millenials. But if you ask one, yeah, who gives a crap about all these new attempts to cash in on games that have already been milked to death?

Thanks for the compliments! So happy everyone seems to be enjoying this one. Yes, it was a lot of work!
Nothing fancy needed, really. Just got footage of two people who know Japanese playing through each of the modes. Once you have the footage, freeze-framing isn't an issue. As usual, no emulation was used.
My brother (who hasn't made a video for the channel in over a year, but may be headed for a comeback) has lived in Japan over a decade, and put in overtime on this one. I put together the final script, but really most of the credit for this one goes to him

This is the most whiney, entitled generation of gamers I've ever seen. More evidence the internet brings out the worst of humanity.

It walked a very thin line between "fun" and "I wish this didn't take so long/This is tedious." OCD saw me through this time I guess. The amount of friction for progression is fairly low.

We aren't talking about new flashy games coming out exclusive to the next gen, we're talking about games you can buy on either generation, and getting a patch on the newer one to make it work faster and look nicer. Even the current exclusives are unlikely to stay exclusive forever. The pc market is too strong to be competed against.
Think that way if it makes you feel better, I guess. It's clear to me that last gen games that have a backward compatibility patch on next gen are very different things than games that have a native PS5 or Series X version.

AC Odyssey took me 200 hours because I did everything, including DLC. Still, I wish doing everything took maybe 80 hours max. I spent more than half a year on that. I doubt that the main story takes as little as 50 hours on that one. It's longer than Origins. I miss pre-RPG Assassin's Creed.
I just started Valhalla, and so far my impressions are pretty good. Can't wait to see what fiddly mechanic they introduce to ruin it.

6 hours ago, youxia said:I must say, I don't get the problem here. There are zillions of games available, all kinds and styles. If somebody does not like, or have time for long games, they perhaps could avoid them and play just the short ones, no?
I guess. But I like to keep up with the new AAA releases when I can, and they take too long. I'm still not ready to turn into one of those on this forum who hasn't bought a big game since PS3.
I liked the first few Assassin's Creeds. Why do the new ones have to be 200 hours? That's restrictive for folks who play plenty of games but still have to be on an adult schedule.

Mine is still 2-days late from Fedex. Looks like it's back to store pickup only from Best Buy for me. I ended up having to go to the store anyway to pickup the bonus steel book, so I could've just picked the game up on Thursday. We live right next to it. I was only shipping 'cuz covid'.

I've often wondered what all goes into cranking out so many AC games. There must be a department that just does side quests, right? So it's somebody's job to just lay out side quests all day. How creative are they allowed to be? Ubisoft games have so many of them, it must get really tedious coming up with all of them. It must get really paint-by-numbers. Who is demanding this many side quests in a game? I'd be in favor of cutting that department's budget by 2/3 and just giving them the resources to do only the best side quests they can come up with. These games really start to drag if you try to do everything.

Well, debut two boxes that can basically "do Xbox," which is apparently a service now, and that's what you get.
The Series S is also a poor proposition for consumers, and if anything, just dilutes their marketing for Series X. Look at Sony and you can see how to promote a new console right -- Even though they have two SKU's, the public is going crazy over one monolithic must-have brand, and that's PS5. I'd be happy to never hear anything about Series S ever again, honestly.

You pre-ordered it for Xbox One. There is no Series X version.

I've got the game coming today. So far from everything I'm reading, it sounds like my idea of waiting for the nextgen version was a good plan. I may sell this and wait. Maybe I shouldn't open it and just return it instead.

Yeah, one would hope for something more general and less biased from a mainstream, non-gaming news source like Forbes.
You don't think Altered Beast on the Genesis was at least a decent arcade port for it's time?

If I didn't have one and wanted one that much, I'd follow twitter accounts with stock updates, not pay double on ebay. It's the thrill of the hunt anyway.

I'm actually surprised how many consoles they've been able to ship this fast, considering the level of technology being delivered, and the pandemic.

Forbes: Why The Xbox Series X Is 2020’s Biggest Gaming Disappointment
While I agree it doesn't feel like a big leap, this author is mostly just personal nitpicking. He said no one in their right mind would buy an Xbox for exclusives, but there are plenty of people who buy Xbox to play Halo, Gears and Forza. I mean, I guess you can play them on PC now, if you count PC.

My Xbox One pack died. I was playing on Series X and it suddenly just stopped working. Ordered the new official Series X version. Yeah, rechargeable AA's work fine, but I just like to plug it in to charge it like with real consoles for some reason.
