Gamehut on how hard it was to code for Saturn
DJ Clae replied to deepthaw's topic in Classic Console Discussion
You had to use every part of the hardware. Just like how Native Americans on the plains used every part of the buffalo. -
Yeah, I know. The Foundry's scattered goals feel old school for me though. I searched online for other people who hate the level, but couldn't really find anything. After trying twice to make progress on that stage I knew the game was not for me. The level is a show-stopper.

I play modern FPSes. I like Halo and the like. Wasn't a PC gamer back in the day, so I have little nostalgia for Doom or Wolfenstein as franchises. I had Doom on 32X and hated that version.

Rogue Remastered looks great compared to the original. I won't get it because I got the 360 version for $3.00 last year and all but finished it. I had been waiting for a while for a 1080p remaster though. So glad the Xbox One standard version runs in 1080p this time, unlike AC4 on Xbox One (which was a launch title).

Which Game is The Worst DLC Offender?
DJ Clae replied to Classic Pac's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Me too. I usually get the season pass for Horizon, but I've stopped buying anything beyond the core game for Motorsport. I just don't play them enough each year, and people online kick my ass in Motorsport despite playing on a high difficulty level in 1-player. Actually, I probably won't even buy the next Motorsport on the release date. I'm just drifting away and falling behind on this series. -
I finally tried my copy of Doom that I got black Friday, and I don't like it. The Foundry is the kind of level that makes me dizzy and very annoyed. It was moving along okay until I got there. I will avoid the Doom series from now on. It's never been for me. (Have 3 on the original Xbox. Similar situation -- fun for a while until getting stuck.)

Yeah, installing your own HD is a sorely lacking feature. I used my original Xbone as a primary bluray player for rentals for a while, but we quickly lost interest and started just streaming on PC. The S is nice.

People seem to like Zen Studios. I never enjoyed any of their custom tables so far. Fantasy pinball is so boring compared to real tables for some reason. I'm guessing people will end up loving the real tables from Zen once they get the kinks out. Now I'm wondering if I should've wasted all my money on the TPA packs in June. My wife and I are saving and I had to ask special permission from her to buy all of them.

I have Forza Horizon 4 and Mega Man 11 pre-ordered. I'd still like to try Hellblade. I finally tried my copy of Doom that I got black Friday, and I don't like it. Wow, what happened to your consoles? MS did "get their hardware right" for the Xbox One. I haven't heard of many issues. I still have my launch Xbone and launch X. And I keep them in an entertainment center with a back, so they aren't that well ventilated. Of course, I don't play more than a few hours a week though. The blu ray drive should only get used when installing a game or booting one up.

For 3 I stopped playing the demos because I know I'm buying the game anyway. Don't have time to play the beginning of the game twice. I've been hearing only good things. I'm in the minority here, but I wish they would fill the map with less junk to do. 3 was so cluttered I could never get a handle on all the activities.

What the heck are these carts?
DJ Clae replied to marc.teeters's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Kaeliko is the Korean version then. -
The tastemakers at your middle school and the people with the purchasing power cared more about the Japanese blockbusters I mentioned. Spyro and Tony Hawk sales were driven by kids. I'm not talking about raw sales. I mean games that raised the platform's prestige in the industry, which in turned fueld sales of other titles.

So what the Saturn needed was more Mr. Bones, Three Dirty Dwarves, and Bug! Clearly the brilliance of these Western developers would have saved the Saturn if given the backing they deserved. It's not because the Saturn's third place position caused it to miss out on blockbusters like FF7 and Metal Gear Solid.

Best Mascot game of 6th gen?
DJ Clae replied to Atari Pogostick's topic in Classic Console Discussion
One of the best Sonics ever made. An epic soundtrack. I imported it with the console back in the day. Credit to Halo. It had a lot of diehard fans. -
If you have an Xbox Live Gold account you can transfer your game saves to the cloud. Not only does this allow you to pick up your game on the Xbox One for supported games, but it also backs up your saves in case your HDD dies.

Questions About Xbox 360 Region Lockout
DJ Clae replied to Games Retrospect's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
The 360 has three regions. Whether or not they're enforced depends on the game. That's why I still own a US system and an Asia system. Back in the day, Play Asia used to keep a decent compatibility list. A list can now be found here: http://gaming.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_region-free_Xbox_360_video_games -
Do you find yourself drifting away from the scene?
DJ Clae replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Capcom, Konami, Sega, SNK. For modern gaming I mostly stick to AAA titles and the occasional retro revival download. -

I'm genuinely curious what you're playing. And there's no doubt these devices are capable. I don't mean to be biased. I am simply not interested in it as a gaming platform.
